It's a lobby bar/game room and the bartender also serves as the person who checks you in. Rooms are bare minimum: thin mattress, no comforter just a blanket. No rugs or couch or any furniture and the walls were thin, making it hard to enjoy a quiet stay. The blackout curtains worked well. There was a huge beanbag chair which was fun. I didn't mind the lack of a closet. I thought the concept of hangers on the wall itself was funky, functional, and a better use of space in most cases. The "ironing room" -- a supposed area stocked with towels, toiletries, and other amenities. Unfortunately, it was completely understocked, for basic supplies like towels. It's clear there's a lack of attention to detail when it comes to maintaining the hotel's resources. There was a hotel restaurant but free breakfast is limited (parfait, fruit, muffin) not like other hotels in Marriott Bonvoy hotel chain offer. And overall this hotel is in a great location. Close to downtown Tempe as well as quick freeway access. Location is the only redeeming quality. The location is ideal, with a CVS right next door for any quick needs, and it's incredibly easy to catch an Uber, Lyft, or even a Waymo to explore different areas around the city.

The fourth floor looks terrible -- there are empty, broken-down rooms and the hallways feel neglected. The carpet on both the fourth floor and first floor is in very bad shape and looks like it hasn't been maintained in a long time. Inside the rooms, the flooring is actually popping up in areas, which makes the whole place feel worn out and poorly maintained. Overall, the hotel just looks very old and neglected now. The elevators are another concern. They make loud noises and honestly sound like they could break at any moment. There is also an unpleasant smell in parts of the building. When you get off the elevator and walk toward the lobby, you can see construction going on, which only adds to the messy and rundown feeling of the property. This place used to be a great stay when we first came here, but now it's honestly pretty shameful to see how much it has deteriorated. The location and concept are great, but the hotel clearly needs serious maintenance and attention.

My event was for an audience of 60 who watched a presentation. The audience sat at decorated tables, and additional chairs were set up as the audience grew. The beverage bar was beautiful with coffee pods, teas, punches, and lots of fruit garnish, lemons, blackberries, and raspberries arranged in a lovely display. Luke attended to our every need throughout the day and never flinched at any request. Always responded with a smile. We had two seniors (my parents), and three adults. It's $11.57 for adults, $8.41 for seniors, and $5.73 for children under 15. The Queen Creek Botanical Garden is a fully functional, edible landscape, a sacred garden, and an event venue. Guests can explore the hidden alcoves, English Gardens, grassy meadows, Japanese terraced gardens, legend falls, a turn-of-the-century water wheel, hillside gardens, scavenger hunt for kids, and so much more. However, the garden is very small. We were probably there for 30-45 minutes, but we played the lawn games, sat down, and took lots of photos. You can easily explore the whole garden in 15 minutes or less. Guests can rent a canoe for an additional charge but I believe you can fish for no additional charge. The garden is beautiful, serene, and well maintained. It's worth visiting at least once.

I attended the Devo concert on 4/13/26 at The Van Buren, and unfortunately, the experience was very…read moredisappointing. The venue felt significantly oversold, to the point where it was nearly impossible to move comfortably. From where I was standing, I couldn't see the stage at all, which made it hard to enjoy the performance I came to see. Beyond just being crowded, it felt unsafe. The number of people packed into the space seemed excessive, and I genuinely question whether it exceeded fire code limits. People were standing all the way back into the bar area. Navigating through the crowd was difficult, and there didn't appear to be enough room for people to exit easily if needed. I've been to this venue since its 2017 opening and had much better experiences, but this event felt poorly managed. I hope they take crowd capacity and guest safety more seriously in the future.
