This place was a hit for brunch. From the service to the food I was very impressed. My waiter Gavin was so great with making sure I had everything and answered my questions. The manager was even helpful to inquire of what I was thinking of ordering then took my order once I was ready. While waiting I munched on the chips and salsa. The salsa was amazing. Flavors were on point. I never ordered biscuits with sausage gravy, but reading the ingredients on the menu sounded so good. I ordered the spicy chicken biscuits with sausage gravy and I was not disappointed. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a light batter and not too spicy. The sausage gravy was so savory and full of flavor. The biscuits were light and fluffy. Everything tasted so good together. Brunch Entrees come with a drink for $17. Either a mimosa, house margarita, or beer. I opted for the house margarita which was your basic house margarita. This was a really good deal. The portion of food was just right. The inside is beautifully decorated and same with the outside patio. There is plenty of seating outside with some picnic games too. I'll be back for Taco Tuesday! read more

I really want to see this neighborhood restaurant do well. The interior and décor are beautiful, and the service was attentive, friendly, and welcoming. I was dining alone, so I ordered the Adobada from the specials section. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the lovely atmosphere. The tortillas and beans were good, and the pork had nice flavor, but some of the meat was a little gamey and dry. The rice was the biggest challenge--it was somehow crunchy and mushy at the same time! The texture was very inconsistent. I'm sharing this with kindness because I genuinely want this local restaurant to succeed. Good food speaks louder than anything, and I think the restaurant has a lot of potential. I'll definitely come back and try something simpler next time. I'm rooting for you! read more

I am a face value type of person even down to my friends. A coffee, friend versus dinner friend vacation friend, et... now with that said this place is at best a beer on the patio establishment. Cool atmosphere and solid service but food was pretty underwhelming overall for us. We tried the Diego's Mexican Cigars, Baja Seafood Enchiladas, Pollo Fundido, and Carne Asada Tacos. Food kinda sucks. I'm sure it's really hit or miss given if they are busy or not. read more

The menu has a great variety with decent happy hour options for a local spot. On good weather days the patios is packed and the vibes are great! Service was excellent. Honestly, my husband was tempted to hand her his business card to recommend she apply for sales at the company he works for. Also, love OHSO and their support of teachers! This New Mexican concept next door was our choice for date night tonight. Got the fancy pineapple guacamole. Was bland and pineapple chunks were too large. B- Chips and salsa. Chips B, salsa, A. Veggie taco, A Veggie enchilada, B (no cheese?) Cilantro rice, B for bland All were spicy and we love that! My husband had 3 tacos and liked them all (shrimp, beef, chicken). Margarita pitcher was fine but not the best ever. Vibes, A. read more

Finally made it to OHSOs "Funky Fridas". It's a nicely decorated place! Great patio with misters and TVs and outside bar. The food was good. I'd say the amount of meat you get for the price of the fajitas, was skimpy. The enchilada were great and I preferred the black beans over refried after trying both. Cilantro rice was yummy, and the three dip appetizer was worth it. Our server was really friendly but service was slow and it wasn't that busy for a Friday night. read more

3/26/2026 First visit thx to Yelp Friends @Diane M and @Beth B who did a great job showing the vibe with great photos and reviews months ago. Added it to my must visit folder for my next visit to my old stopping grounds. Parking 4/5 We arrived about 1pm. Parking here requires patience because the parking lot is small for a popular hangout shared by its mothership OSHO next door. We weaved and Zig Zagged through one lap and caught a break near the door. Atmosphere 5++ I really enjoyed the vibe set by the unique spaces and full spectrum of colors from artwork, artistic pieces, fixtures. Eye candy for the soul. It's worth taking a few minutes to take the spaces in. Creative idea for a Latin inspired eatery and adult beverage happy spaces. Service 10/5' Every staff member was friendly, welcoming from the check-in station, bar area, and multiple dining spaces indoors and in their expansive patio that connects to OSHO. Our server today was Maximiliano, an ASU Civil Engineering student from Alabama. Forks-up Maximiliano! Great attentive service and a good sport. He was patient while we struggled to make up our minds with the numerous enticing dishes. Food 5/5 A team member brought us chips and salsa. We ordered a crispy cheese crisp. Entrees were steak fajitas for my wife and I picked the Carne Asada bowl. Both were tender and flavorful steak, my bowl had a delicious rice, beans, sliced Avocado and an amazing splash of deviled egg salad relish. Desert was a decadent Flan with sliced strawberry. Everything was delicious. There are many reasons Funky Frida's is a favorite stop for Arcadia visitors. Ps- Who remembers the Bobs Big Boy standing tall on top of the Arcadia High Clock Tower? Yum!! Funky Frida's is the best! The decor is so fun and *funky*, the employees are so kind, friendly, and accommodating, and the food is bomb! I got the Camelback Bowl and it was full of so many delicious veggies, marinated chicken, cilantro lime rice. It was HUGE and so generous/inviting. It was perfect after a long day. But also I need to shout out the salsa. The salsa was REALLY good. It's probably some of the best salsa I have ever had. The spiciness, seasoning, texture of the salsa truly took my mouth to a different dimension. I was tempted to drink the salsa that's how delicious it was! It was a really nice experience at Funky Frida's and I definitely will be back next time I'm in Scottsdale! read more

Stepping into Funky Fridas felt like stepping straight into Mexico. It actually reminded me a lot of my time in Cabo..vibrant, colorful, and festive! Unfortunately, the food didn't match the vibe and it was a big disappointment. The empanada was mostly fluff with barely any filling. The rice was mushy and beans lacked flavor. The taco was the most decent thing on the plate and still was not great. The margaritas were not strong but tasty. Overall, the atmosphere was great, but the food didn't deliver. read more

Will be back!! Didn't realize this place opened only four months ago! It took the place of little O's and is still part of OHSO. Super cool decor inside, lots of colors and lights and yes, funky. Indoor outdoor vibes, there are both heaters and misters. We came at 7:30 on a Saturday and it was still busy! We were sat right away still which was so nice. You get warm chips and salsa with a slight kick when you first sit down. Love it. My boyfriend got the boom dynamite IPA which is on tap from OHSO And got two so he liked it! Mango notes for sure. The menu is extensive with a lot of gluten free options!! I got the Baja enchiladas which had creamy shrimp, lobster, and lump crab with gobs of cheese and a super delicious creamy sauce on top -- lots of sauce, my favorite. I want my enchiladas to be drenched in sauce. Good hefty portion of seafood, super nice. It also came with cilantro rice and black beans, I could only have half my meal and had the rest the next day, and just as yummy! The beans were savory and just so good. My boyfriend got the chicken fundido which was like a chimichanga and burrito?? It's their most popular dish and it was massive! Super cheesy and lots of chicken. My boyfriend ate it all somehow, even the rice and beans. He also wants to go back!! Shoutout to Grace the GM!! Really took care of us and is very welcoming read more

Had some of the worst food ever at Funky Frida's. The salsa was good, so there's that, but the quesadilla was inedible. Luckily they were kind enough to take it off the bill. Margs were good but nothing special. My friends have been back since and said the food is still bad. It's really unfortunate because the space is very cool! It reminds me of Mexico. Great location right off the canal as well. Service was also very odd with some tables able to order off the full menu but our server made us order of the brunch menu only. The folks right next to us were able to get tacos. They also did not eat them. FF opened recently so hopefully they can get it together with the food, would still come for cocktails though. read more

Funky, colorful and fun! There is so much to look at once you walk in the door. I loved the disco ball at the entrance. My friend and I sat on the patio, started with complimentary chips and salsa. I ordered their coconut lime margarita. I was totally obsessed with this marg. So so good! They had a great taco Tuesday lunch special, $9.99 for 3 tacos with a side of rice and beans. I tried their crispy fish, carne asada and shrimp on flour tortillas. The crispy fish was my favorite, it was large, and very flavorful. I liked the shrimp taco but it was on the small side. I would have liked more shrimp in the taco. The carne asada taco was ok, I was expecting the meat to be prepared a different way. I'm use to the meat being cut into strips instead of a soft saucy meat. I first thought they gave me the wrong taco. It was not a terrible taco, just in my opinion, not my favorite. The service was good but towards the end we hadn't seen our waitress for a while. Fun fact, you can bring a little trinket- such as a toy, a charm, or something totally random to put on their shelves. I spotted someone's dog collar on their gold monkey by the outside bar. I look forward to trying other items on their menu. Funky Friday is next door to OHSO and the German deli, which I visit often. read more

We sat on the patio, zero wait Our server, Michelle, took great care of us, and answered all our questions about food and drinks I was brought a Monster Margarita, even tho I swear I asked for a mimosa, but no big deal, tho, because I thought I was ordering a mimosa when she asked if I wanted a rim I said no Good flavor, not overly salty I also had a Baja Beach Boi; peach tea mezcal, lemon, tamarind, and agave I took a big swig from the straw and almost immediately sent it back, but then I remembered to stir it up and tried again; MUCH better, very delicious The salsa for the chips was super fresh, with good heat Michelle asked if we'd like to try their other salsas, which, of course, so she brought a chiltepin salsa , which was nice, but nothing special, and a habanero which, I need to learn how to take smaller portions of My wife and I shared the Hangover Special: carne adovada, a green chile tamale with chile verde sauce, Monterey Jack, two fried eggs, warm tortilla, black beans The pork was super tender and the heat and flavor from the New Mexico chilies was amazing, the black beans were cooked well, and the tamale, which is locally sourced, was so damn good, with amazing green Chile flavor and tender chicken 5/5, would absolutely recommend, will definitely return read more

We had a very disappointing experience. We stopped in around 3 PM on a Saturday expecting a relaxed atmosphere for drinks and appetizers, and while the restaurant was fairly empty, the service did not reflect that at all. We had to repeatedly flag down our server just to place a drink order, then again to order food, and yet again when the wrong appetizer was brought out. When we pointed out the mistake, instead of resolving it, the bartender insisted we had ordered it--which we had not--and we hadn't even touched the dish. The service felt inattentive and unnecessarily dismissive throughout our visit. As for the drinks, the margaritas tasted premade and seemed to come straight from a tap--more in line with a basic sports bar than what we were expecting. Overall, the experience and the product were highly disappointing, I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Funky Frida's was definitely funky! Similar concept to Starving Artist, this place has lots of over the top decor, very colorful and Mexican inspired! They offer brunch on the weekends and lunch/dinner all other days. Indoor/outdoor seating here and they offer complimentary valet parking on the weekends and evenings! We walked in on a Saturday around 12pm with a party of 6 and were able to get seated quickly. They do offer reservations. Our server Coco was fine. I think it was pretty busy at the time so they were trying their best. The chips and salsa were good, and I tried a strawberry margarita which was awesome, I loved the basil flavor added to it. For food I ordered the Hippie Bowl and added chicken. It cost an extra $6 to add the chicken and I don't think the amount of chicken I received was worth that much. The bowl itself wasn't as good as it sounded on the menu so that was kind of disappointing. Some people ordered the tacos and weren't impressed. My husband ordered the torta which was good. Overall, I wish the food would have been a bit better. But the decor helped make up for it, such a fun dine in experience. I would probably come back and try other things. read more

Funky Frida's is exactly what the name promises, cool, colorful, and funky enough that I'm pretty sure Frida Kahlo herself would walk in, look around, and say, "Yeah... this checks out," before ordering something strong and judging everyone quietly. From the moment we sat down, we were taken care of. The staff was super attentive and somehow patient enough to answer our 800 questions without even a hint of panic behind the eyes. Michelle was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and the kind of server who actually knows the menu instead of pretending while sweating. Hubs kicked things off with the Monster Margarita, which lived up to its name without tasting like an assault. Nicely balanced, no sour mix crime scene going on. He followed it with the Pablito's Paloma: blanco tequila, fresh grapefruit, ruby red grapefruit, soda, bright, refreshing, and very "I pay my bills on time" energy. Then came the Baja Beach Boi (yes, spelled like that), with peach tea mezcal, lemon, tamarind, and agave. The first sip was... questionable. But sip two? Peach came through, everything clicked, and suddenly he was a believer. Growth! Meanwhile, because I'm an adult and no one can stop me, I had to try all three of their house specialty shots: Piña Upside Dawn: orange tequila, pineapple juice, OJ, grenadine. Fruity and fun, a little sweet, but perfect as a one-and-done shot. Adios Pants: grapefruit & hibiscus tequila, lime juice, prickly pear syrup. My absolute favorite! Balanced, not too sweet, and the name is a warning I chose to ignore. Coffee and a Cigarette: coffee vodka, Licor 43, mezcal, chocolate bitters. Shockingly great balance. Not too creamy, not too bitter, and definitely something Frida would've taken before painting another self-portrait of her looking over it. Chips and salsa came first; fresh, flavorful, and that perfect level of heat that reminds you you're alive. Our waitress brought out two bonus salsas: a chiltepin I didn't care for (not tragic, just vibing wrong), and a habanero I loved but also absolutely tried to sear the lining of my mouth. The regular salsa? Perfect balance with a quick kick. The habanero? Also , sweet, fruity, and aggressive. Like being kissed and slapped at the same time. For food, we split the Hangover Special: carne adovada, a green chile tamale with chile verde sauce, Monterey Jack, two fried eggs, warm tortilla. The pork was incredibly tender with great spice, the black beans were perfectly cooked, and the tamale, though not made in-house, is from a local company and ridiculously good. Perfect masa, great flavor, zero complaints. Overall? Funky Frida's is fun, flavorful, attentive, and just weird enough to be memorable. The food's legit, the drinks are strong, and the shots are a whole journey. Frida would approve... or at least raise one eyebrow and order another round. read more

First time here and was blown away by the hospitality! Everyone made sure that we had the best dining experience. We sat outside, it was gloomy but the heaters were turned on so it was cozy. They have complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect amount of spice. I paired it with the famous queso dip, I love pimento cheese so this was real tasty. I got two margaritas, the Carolina reaper (lightly spicy) and a cucumber cilantro margarita (refreshing). Both are great options! I had the pollo fundido it was delicious. Funky Frida's has a great atmosphere and the decor is really fantastic and definitely on theme. It recently opened and they still need to work out some service kinks. But overall I enjoyed my evening at Funky Frida's. I went on a Friday evening around 7pm and was worried we would need to wait because I didn't see that there were reservations available. Luckily no wait and no reservations required. I had the hippie bowl which the waitress told me did not come with rice so I ordered rice in the side but then turns out it was served over rice. It was good but kinda cold in places. Wasn't sure if it was supposed to be. My dad had the smash burger and he said it was delicious and you need a fork to eat it. Chips and salsa were good and so was the skinny marg. I might have had too many chips while waiting for my meal, lol. There was an issue with the final check and it took a little bit for them to figure out what happened but they did and also they removed the charge for the extra rice which was appreciated since I didn't eat it. Overall I was impressed with this new spot and think it will be a great once they work out some of the service issues. read more

Such a cool place! Frida's is full of fun vibes, both inside and out. The interior has a playful, upbeat feel with unique decor. The patio and outdoor bar are perfect for hanging out and enjoying the atmosphere. The menu has a lot of options, but I couldn't resist the Taco Tuesday special, three tacos of your choice with rice and beans for just $9.99. I went with the crispy fish, grilled fish, and shrimp tacos. The crispy fish and grilled fish tacos were my favorites, super flavorful. The shrimp taco was good too, though I wished it had a little more shrimp. This is such a great deal!!! They bring you complimentary chips and salsa. I really liked their salsa. I ordered the coconut lime margarita and it was delicious. It was refreshing, tropical, and not too sweet. Overall, Funky Frida's is a fun, vibrant place with great food, drinks, and energy. We went to the soft opening and everything was amazing from the food to the service! For drinks we got a corona which was a corona with a lime, as good as any corona with a lime. And we got the raspberry mojito mocktail. The mocktail was very fruity and very fresh! If you're not an alcohol drinker I'd recommend this drink. The salsa (especially the green salsa) was SO good. I would come here again just for the salsa! For entrees we got the big taco, which is half pictured because we got a little too excited before we snagged a photo. The size was intimidating but the flavor was amazing! And even though the chicken was so juicy the crispy taco shell never got soggy which is always a plus. We also had the fajitas, I would highly recommend the fajitas to anyone who isn't sure what to get! The meat was cooked perfectly, the sides were fresh and the tortillas were really good. No dessert at the soft opening but they did have dessert options on the menu that sounded so good! We'll have to try those next time we're there. As far as service, phenomenal! Even though they were extremely busy, and even more so with the pouring rain changing some patio plans, we felt like the server, Madi, and a guy who appeared to maybe be the manager or owner, were super attentive! Madi did a great job explaining all of our food to us and getting us drinks, refills, more salsa etc. And the people who were bringing out our food were really nice as well. The patio was perfect! Spacious, mostly covered from the rain other than the seats along the edge and had the perfect lighting. Looked like they had misters or maybe heaters as well so it seems like it'll be great all year. We will definitely be back! read more

Arcadia just got a new cantina in the spot that used to be Little O's, and it's quite the vibe. The decor is perfect - so colorful, bold and beautiful, especially those lights. Speaking of the lights, I've heard the outdoor area looks magical at night. Service was excellent. The food tasted good. I had the cheese enchiladas, which was a generous amount of food and came with cilantro rice and beans. Parking was easy at lunchtime on a weekday, but I do know from experience that the parking lot can get pretty congested during peak hours. The music was good and not so loud that I couldn't hold a conversation. The prices are a bit on the higher side, which might make me think twice about coming back. However, they do have a nice happy hour menu with very reasonable prices. Overall, a great spot with good vibes by the OHSO team. read more

We started with the chips and salsa which was really tasty. Then, for an appetizer they brought us Frida's Threesome which was a series of dips- and also tasty. I came to Fridas on a Tuesday afternoon to meet a friend for Taco Tuesday. This spot used to be Little O's, which I absolutely loved, so I'll admit I came in with some nostalgia and curiosity. Little O's always had such a strong local vibe, was super dog friendly, and honestly had better food than OHSO next door, even though it's owned by them. I was sad to see it go, but excited to see what they'd do with the space. First impressions: the remodel is cute. Very kitschy, intentionally Mexican-themed, and well done. Opening up the bar to create more outdoor seating was a smart move, especially since it's still dog friendly. I also liked that they swapped out the large communal tables for more smaller tables, which makes the space feel more flexible and less crowded. I got there early, around 3:30 pm, and it was quiet, just a handful of people at the outside bar and no one inside. Parking is easy unless it's a busy weekend, and then there's valet. The location is super easy to find, right off Indian School across from JT's. Service is where things were a little inconsistent. When I sat down at the bar, the bartender clearly saw me, but didn't acknowledge me for a while. No hello, no quick check-in, even though it wasn't busy. Eventually he came over to take a drink order. I asked about the wine, but he didn't know when it had been opened, which made me pass. I ordered the skinny margarita instead, and honestly, it was fantastic. Perfect balance, not too sweet, not too strong. One of the better skinny margaritas I've had. They brought out chips and salsa and asked if I wanted spicy. I love spice and can handle a lot, but fair warning, the spicy salsa is no joke. It's very hot. Delicious, but if you don't already have water or a high spice tolerance, stick with the regular. A second bartender came on shift and was a bit more personable, but still felt slightly disconnected. When I asked about the concept and rebrand, the answer was basically that it's owned by OHSO and they wanted to try something new. Nothing wrong with that, but it didn't feel like the staff was really selling or excited about the concept yet. I ordered the $9.99 Taco Tuesday special, which comes with three tacos, rice, and your choice of beans. There was actually some confusion between the bartenders about whether they even had refried beans, which felt odd for a Mexican spot and definitely points to a training gap. That said, the tacos were really good. I ordered shrimp, carne asada, and fried fish. The carne asada was my least favorite and a little overcooked, but the shrimp and fish tacos were phenomenal. I was genuinely surprised how good they were, especially since I'm not a huge taco person. For the price, the Taco Tuesday deal is absolutely worth it, and I will 100% be back for that. Overall, I liked Fridas, but I was a bit underwhelmed. The space looks nice, the food is solid, and the Taco Tuesday deal is a win. I just expected a little more polish given that OHSO already had a successful restaurant here before. There's a lot of potential, and I'd love to see it tighten up as it settles in. I'll be back, but mostly for tacos and the patio. read more

Fun atmosphere! Always great food! Service is always great! Much better than the prior establishment!

This was our second visit to Funky Frida's, and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We attended one of their soft openings about a month ago and loved the food and staff, and knew we wanted to come back. They are a sister restaurant to O.S.H.O. and located right next door to the Arcadia location. Everything is super flavorful and fresh. The chips are homemade, and the salsa is just right. Not too bland and not too spicy! The standout dish so far for us has been their Carne Adovada!! It's a slow-roasted carne adovada pork with a side of cilantro lime rice and a tortilla. You also get a choice of pinto or black beans! They also have a large outdoor patio that's perfect for the AZ winters... so make sure to check them out! read more

I read that this place was opening, so we decided to head there this weekend. It was only their third day of being open. It is located in the former Little O's, which is located in what appears to be an old convenience store. They take care of this place is pretty funky and cool. It is very colorful with bright printed curtains and framed pictures covering the entire ceiling. There were cute Mexican puppets above the bar and, of course, pictures of Frida Kahlo. The lighting fixtures are very cool - - there are some with big feathers, and some there are glass butterflies, and even a pair of stained glass parrot lights. Across the way are a string of colorful glass lamps. Very pretty. There is a dog-friendly patio with a bar and several tables. When we walked in, there was somebody in front of us at the hostess, and all of the tables were full inside. It was very weird because when the host is greeted us, she asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. I said I preferred inside but outside would be okay so she told me to see the outside hostess to see how long we'll wait would be. I asked her if they kept two separate lists and she said no it was one list, but each person had their own iPad. I'm not really sure why she couldn't add me to the list and I'd have to see the outside hostess if it was one list. we finally decided to get on the list to sit inside and she told us the wait would be 40 minutes. We stepped outside for just a minute, and then I stepped back inside the door to take a picture. As soon as I stepped in, the hostess said they were clearing my table and I should be seated in a couple of minutes. This was only a couple minutes after she said the weight was 40 minutes. I don't understand it, but I took it. We were seated and our server came almost immediately. He was a nice guy very helpful. We started with a Frida's Margarita and and Uno Mas Cerveza (an Ohso beer). The margarita was pretty standard. There were more specialized margaritas on the menu. I ended up ordering the monster taco, which is an 8-inch fried flour tortilla with shredded chicken and all the toppings. It was fine. Nothing to write home about. Son ordered a carne asada Bowl. He said it was good but I didn't try it. All in all, the food was fine. Our server was great and the atmosphere is fantastic. One huge downfall is the terrible parking situation. This place is part of oh say next door, and there is very little parking. There's valet parking, but cars were waiting for five deep. Yeah he's a gift we actually parked a couple buildings down in an office parking lot. It was a Saturday and the offices were closed, so we did fine. read more

I meet some friends of mine from out of town and we ordered our margaritas and guacamole dip which in our opinions it was the bomb and then I ordered the nachos with chicken we didn't order an entree because we were full. I also ordered a margarita with cucumber and cilantro oh my gosh it was so refreshing and I am afraid if I would have ordered a 2nd one no telling what kind of trouble I would've gotten into. Funky Frida's is a place I could go by myself and and have a meal and a drink and feel safe in our Arcadia Hood. read more
