    Skinny marg no salt
    Olivia R.

I came for dinner with my husband, friends and our two boys during their all day happy hour on Sunday. We started with their chips and queso, my favorite. Their queso is good! My boys got the $7 happy hour cheese quesadilla. Their quesadillas are pretty large so my boys were able to split 1 meal. If you order a cheese quesadilla from the kids menu, the quesadilla is smaller but you get a side of fries with it. My husband, our friends and I split their carne asada quesadilla, carnitas quesadilla and the chicken tinga quesadilla. They all were large and nicely stuffed with cheese and meats. I loved the flavor of the chicken tinga quesadilla. For drinks, we all ordered a margarita. I always prefer a skinny margarita, no salt. I appreciate them having a skinny margarita on their happy hour menu, not a lot of restaurants do that. Usually, restaurants offer only their original margarita on happy hour. Since we live close by and it's a good place to bring the kids, we have been here many times. We will be back soon!

They have a new breakfast weekend menu. The $10 breakfast burrito was big and excellent. It was a bit spicy with the Chipotle aioli, but nothing crazy. It contains has Browns, eggs and cheese. Not too crowded on sunday at noon, but nice bartenders.

Prettiest margarita flight I've ever seen

This is the place to go for some awesome margaritas and food. I got the margarita flight and the watermelon was my favorite- also got coconut and prickly pear flavors. Very cute display for the flight too. Service was good especially with our big group. Food was bomb - I had shrimp tacos and a mahi taco and yummm, I could eat 10 of them. They were on top of chip and salsa refill, and food came out relatively quick and hot. Very busy restaurant. They also had a taco flight the table next to us got. It's like 20 tacos and looked super good to munch down and split with a few friends. Located in an upcoming- development area in Phoenix.

It was a team party at the Modern Margarita. Since it was a big group, we all decided to sit outside. The service was quick and very friendly. We ordered a lot of things from the menu. For the drink we ordered the margarita flight, hot mango and the Cadillac. We loved all the drinks, it was delicious, strong and really good! For the food I loved the shrimp lettuce wraps, I am a fan. We also enjoyed the fried shrimp taco, lettuce chicken bowl, chicken nachos, wings. The salsa with the nachos was spot on. The disappointment was the cheese quesadilla, zucchini fries. I would skip them the next time around. Overall, had a great time and would definitely be back for the yummy margaritas.

    Cold nachos!! Gross

Ordered nachos and they came out cold!! Sent them back and they came back still cold. So disappointing!!

My friends decided to meet at Modern Margarita yesterday! We typically don't choose this restaurant because Hulas is next-door and it's usually far better with the food selection and service is usually better! That said... I wanted to change it up because why not, when I arrived to the bar before my friends arrived. I sat there for a good 5 or 7 minutes before anyone even acknowledged I was there. That's always frustrating for me when the bar is pretty slow which it was at the time... No worries I ordered my vodka. It was good and the cheery bartender was very personable when she finally arrived. My friends showed up we continued to visit and they ordered some more drinks... bartender was great! We decided that we wanted to move to a table so we can all talk because our last friend showed up and we were excited to catch up. We haven't seen each other for a while, so we asked the bartender and proceeded to move to a table. This is where our experience at this restaurant completely turned around! Our waitress finally arrived to our table, believe it was almost 10 minutes later, and mind you they were not busy at all! The servers name was Dani, and she, ironically was training a new employee! I found that to be very cute. The young kid was very eager and very helpful. It's a shame that he was paired up with Dani and it was a shame that she is a trainer because the example that she said was absolutely horrible and I hope the kid is a better server than his trainer! From the moment she arrived to the table, she was very put out! We are all very low maintenance people, even if we weren't we didn't need to be treated like we were a complete inconvenience and annoying! A friend of mine had questions because she has food allergies so she had several questions more than an average person. They were all met with an annoyance and a face that wasn't very nice! I felt so bad for my friend! Just sitting there witnessing it and feeling it was not a good experience! In fact, when my friend ordered a drink, the drink was wrong and she had mentioned it to the server and this server pretty much said the drink was made right and you're wrong in her own words! And the kicker to that is, she charged my friend for that drink that she didn't even drink that was made wrong! I had anxiety when she would come to the table because she was clearly so bothered and annoyed being our server! I am sorry that we were there to catch up with our friends and have a good evening, we did order drinks and myself, and my friend ordered food that we ate and somewhat enjoyed... Modern Margarita, please train your staff to give a welcoming experience and maybe if the server would've been interactive and try to talk to us about t bye menu or something maybe we would've gotten some more food or dessert or something. It's not cool to be served by a jaded, tired board, overworked waiter! I honestly didn't want to give a tip, I did tip a custom tip... And I did put a thumbs down for service, which I don't think she was very happy about because she made a snide comments about it... I didn't appreciate that and again, I hope that young kid she was training gets paired up with somebody else so he has a chance at being a good server! Next time I meet my friends again we probably won't be choosing this restaurant, we will be choosing the Humble Bistro across the street or Hula's or any place else, but Modern!

Happy hour salsa duo and frozen margaritas

My coworkers and I really enjoyed the happy hour at Modern Margarita! The prices were really fair - $7 margarita, $7 chips and salsa duo, and $7 two tacos - they were all really tasty! I had the chicken and veggie tacos and I loved the veggie taco! It was so flavorful and had mushrooms in it! Our waitress was attentive, however she seemed quick to try and turn our table really quickly. We loved the restaurant though - great bar and spacious booths! I'll be back!

Service was great! Very personable and knowledgeable with menu and drinks. The weekly specials were very reasonable and affordable.

Modern Margarita definitely has a good spin on Mexican food! Was craving tacos for lunch & wanted to try something new, our server Aaron seemed very familiar with the menu & gave amazing suggestions! We had the Elote Dip to start which was light & delicious then the tacos in order from favorite to least favorite would be Miso Carne, Nashville Hot Chicken, & the Korean Beef (but all were super good & just the right amount of flavor).. even the most simple things like the side of rice was tasty! We sat outside because it was a nice day out, but there's also plenty of TVs if you're trying to catch a game & grab some good food! Definitely plan on coming back soon..

Modern Margaritas was suggested by a friend so I thought I would check it out. Went on a Friday night, it was busy but not excessively crowded. I was able to get a seat at the bar. The bartenders were hustling and very attentive. They brought a menu and they had several interesting items. Unfortunately all I had tome for was chips and salsa. They brought out a basket of chips and two salsa, one mild and the other hot. I do like hot salsa and this had a good kick but I mixed it with the mild to bring it down just a bit. The chips were a little gritty and half the basket were was broken into small pieces. I tried a couple margaritas, the hot mango and spicy prickly pear. Both pretty good but a little sweet but in fairness, they were two of the sweetest according to the bartenders. The service was very good and the ambiance and vibe was good. I would like to go back and try something on the menu and look forward to it.

    Nashville hot chicken sandwich

First time eating at Modern Margarita and the service was great. Sunday has happy hour all day which is nice. $7 nachos and $7 frozen margaritas. The nachos had a little kick to them but were good. I got the lettuce bowl with shrimp and my husband got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. We will definitely come back. Inside was cute too.

Small on the inside, but had a classy but casual feel. Since we did the murder mystery there was also a preset menu which was cool. The food was okay, but will be returning back for the drinks more than the food. The murder mystery game was a nice way to get everyone in the bar involved. Essential a real like clue or who done it game. Very interesting but also can be a bit distracting if your goal was to come out and have some drinks and peace out at your leisure. While it is a very cool idea, I feel that more customers would be able to come and go on these days and not be turned out because a reservation was not made. I've been to The Mighty Axe twice. Ambiance (4/5): This is part of what I love about The Mighty Axe. It has a cabin feel to it. Despite being in Phoenix, you feel like you've been transported to the mountains. There's some seating at the bar as well as some comfortable seating close to a fireplace. The barstools at the bar don't have back support (which is always a con in my book). The music tends to be solid. All in all, a cool spot. And a casual one at that. Service (4/5): The service tends to be friendly, laidback, and efficient. Just like I like it. Food (N/A): I've been on a liquid diet both times, and to be honest, I'm not even sure if they have food. Drinks (3.5/5): Everyone likes different flavor profiles when it comes to cocktails. The Mighty Axe has a solid list, though one that is not super appealing to my taste. Outside of their cocktail list, they have a full bar. The Mighty Axe, if the name didn't give it away, is both a bar and an axe throwing place. While I haven't done any axe throwing, I've checked out the area where it's located (the back of the bar). And there's even one outside on the small patio. Overall, one of my favorite bars on High Street (I live in Desert Ridge so I've frequented pretty much everywhere in the area).

I've passed by Blue Martini many of times. It always seems to be the most hype spot on High Street, a nice entertainment district in Desert Ridge. I finally took the plunge and checked it out on a Thursday night around 9:30 p.m. Parking is easy (and free) on the street, in the surface lots, or the garage on High Street. Ambiance (3.5/5): Blue Martini is definitely a bit bougie and caters to that audience. There's a nice outdoor patio which is where we sat since the weather was beautiful. There's a bar outside and waiter service. I briefly looked inside and there's a bar inside too, lounge sitting, and a dance floor. Blue Martini often has live music or a DJ. Definitely a spot where you can break it down on the dance floor. There's bottle service too if that's your thing. Service (2/5): Talk about slow service! It took our waitress longer than it should have for us to greet us. After placing an order for drinks, we received them promptly. After that we didn't see her again for quite a while. I wanted to order a second cocktail and she was nowhere to be found. Eventually she came around and I placed my order. I decided to close out right then and there knowing that it would take a long time to track her down to close out if I didn't do it right then and there. They also charge two fees amounting to 5%. Not sure what that's all about. Food (N/A): While they do have food, I just had drinks since I was there pretty late. I view Blue Martini as more of a drinks spot, but I can't comment on the food. They have a daily happy hour with discounts on select food items. Drinks (3.5/5): If the name isn't a dead giveaway, Blue Martini specializes in martinis. Beyond martinis, they have a large cocktail list. Plus everything else you'd find with a full bar. The drinks are a bit pricey (it is a see and be seen type of spot after all and you're likely to see old geezers pulling up in Lambos and Ferraris), but I liked the selection. I started off with the Blue Martini, their namesake. It's served with a blue glow stick. From there, I had the strawberry basil martini. Both were pretty good. Not speakeasy quality cocktails but better than your average bar for sure. While Blue Martini isn't really my scene, I can have a good time anywhere. If you're looking to turn up and dance, it's a good spot for that. And it's also elite for people watching.

Whatever. But then they brought out the pasta and shrimp and we waited quite some time, at least 10 minutes for the halibut. Reminded 2 servers that we also ordered potatoes and those came 5 minutes after the pasta. This was just not good. Since we waited, though we at half the pasta, the reminder was lukewarm at best. It's one of the few seats that have back support (which is important to me due to my old man back). Outside of that, it's all barstool seating with no back support inside. Unlike most beer spots, they also have wine and several cocktails. But when in Rome, so I went with a beer flight. You can choose five beers of your choosing from a list of 40 beers or so. While they don't brew their own beer, they have an interesting selection of local craft beers and European ones. Flights are always my go-to when they're offered as they allow you to try out a nice variety. Once you locate it though you find yourself inside this cool bar with tons of beer, ipa, cider & wine options on a chalkboard wall in color coordination to make it easy to choose. If you still can't decide the friendly bar staff will help you out, there are a lot of options. They do have some things on happy hour. Food wise they have a charcuterie board, grilled cheese sandwiches& potato chips. Menu items from Pigtails are also available at the bar. There is a big bar top area and other indoor table seating, patio is shady during the day. I'd recommend this spot if you're out shopping and need a break or if you just want a cool bar to hang out at. If you like ciders the Black Widow -Original Sin cider is very delicious.

Service was just as good: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. The whole place has that easy, tropical vibe that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. After a couple visits, we've already decided this is going to be a regular stop for us every time we come to visit.

Hula's does have happy hour deals every day, but the weekend deals are limited to drinks only (weekdays include some food options). Some of our group ordered discounted drinks, and between the 9 of us, we got a solid assortment of items, ranging from mai tais and longboards to potstickers and loco moco, and even a teriyaki chicken kids meal. Understandably, the food took a bit with our party size, but everything was coordinated came out pretty much at the same time. The loco moco was definitely a group favorite (good burger patty) while the mac salad was probably our least favorite component (lacking in salt and flavor). To zhush up my loco moco a bit, I asked our server for some hot sauce, and was brought their Madagascar hot sauce. Woooo-wee that was hot! But it was fun to pass the sauce cup around the table so we could all try some. It was definitely on the spicy side, even for us spice lovers, but tasty. Overall, we had a nice experience at Hula's and we're glad to have had a comfortable place for us all to catch up!

I'm gonna give three stars because the service was great at the bar and the server was attentive outside and quick although she didn't know the menu well. I ordered the cheese plate to split with my children and no one knew what was on it when I asked, but I was later informed that I got a tomato jelly and honey mustard as the sauces. To me a $30 cheese plate would not come with a container of honey mustard so I was not impressed. When I asked what cheeses were on it they told me there was 2 different cheddars. There was no way it was a cheddar it was a very soft cheese. I believe it was a goat cheese. The almonds were probably the best part of the whole platter. My husband got wings, which were very big. He enjoyed those and the sauce, and my other daughter got meatballs, which she enjoyed, but thought they were a little spicy, I find that usually when kids order things that are spicy servers will say just so you know that has a little bit of heat to it to which the waitress did not again, I don't think she was very knowledgeable on the menu in general . For the type of hotel twenty6 was kinda of major let down. Definitely will pass on the next visit.

We each enjoyed a couple of drinks while chatting about life. Sitting at the bar was quick service and quiet, but you can also relax in a plush patio chair out in the courtyard. Next time, we will plan better and be sure to play some arcade games in the new space before it closes at 9!
