The Beaver Hut is an iconic OSU food spot - great amongst the college students and really everyone else that is looking for an inexpensive place for a quick bite. It's fast, friendly and offers and variety of comfort foods. I ordered a single burger with mushrooms, a single burger with cheddar cheese and my son ordered the munchie mess. The Beaver Hut is a really solid little place with an affordable burger combo and an impressive menu ranging from BLTs to chicken gizzards. This little burger and brew joint is open from morning until night, and serves breakfast and lunch all day. Dam Growlers (located inside) refills growlers from a variety of beer/cider they have on tap. The food is reliably good, though I admit I haven't been too adventurous with the menu. Because of the eatery's small size, there are no places to sit and eat inside. Thus, the Beaver Hut is really a takeout restaurant, unless the weather is nice and you're able to snag a picnic bench outside. But even if those seats are taken, OSU is right across the street, and you're bound to find some seating there. read more

I would rate this a 4.5 if I could. What can you expect? The owner is such a straight forward cool dude and gets your food out asap. I love the environment a quick and cheap burger/ skillet place that cooks up that good ol soul food. From biscuits and gravy to burgers to loaded tater tots. You don't go here for the best burger in town you go here for a quick snack or lunch or brunch or after a late night out. If you need some food you will find something that you'll like. I typically don't like big menus but this guy knows how to arrange his ingredients into many different and unique creations that I love trying new things when I go. This was my favorite breakfast burrito in town for the past 4 years! It was always a 10/10 bacon burrito with salsa. I would regularly come grab one between classes and before work. I've frequented it much less recently, and the one time I grabbed a burrito this summer, it was a completely different quality, with some mid hash browns and mid salsa. The food was amazing! The shake had a funny taste to it like the ice cream was turning. The lady working was rude and was rushing us through our order. Being first timers we had questions but she sighed after each one. Then stated she didn't have time. Stepped in for a late lunch as part of my son's move-in to OSU and to watch the football game. This place is a pure college dive hole-in-the-wall...and that is a great compliment. We ordered a couple basic burgers and tots, and I had a local draft beer. $3 for a small dive burger. Yes, because it tasted better than the McBurger on the edge of downtown. Good flavor. And the size was correct for the price. My only comment would be the toppings. It comes with shredded lettuce, diced white onions and sliced pickles (we opted to hold the house sauce). Fair amount of onions and pickles, but the lettuce was lacking. Moving to the tots - perfect! Crispy. Crunchy. Slight oily taste. Just the way they should be served. As I stated, this is a hole-in-the-wall and they have three picnic tables outside, so plan on taking your order to go. The servers were very nice and the order came out quickly. First off, if you have never stopped by this joint not only are you not a true Beaver fan but also you haven't experienced Corvallis. This tiny little shop offers big time flavors and portions for unbeatable prices. Along with their huge menu depth they have a wide variety of local brand ciders and beers. We went with our usual favorite. 2 singles(each) and a large portion of the tater tot's. I must say that I have NEVER been a fan of tater tot's, but I never will say no to a tray from this venue. I loved coming here, and did so very regularly. Decent cheap burger, at least it was for a while. but I would also sometimes stop in to just grab a drink or ask for a water cup if i was walking nearby and was thirsty and always tipped even if it was just a cup. I guess asking for a water cup 2 days in a row really did a number on their bottom line. old guy with beard behind the counter says "These things cost me money, ya know? get a water bottle or something" and looks at me like i'm a complete idiot. Sure, fair point i guess, i should get one. So i did buy one immediately after leaving and i haven't returned to the Beaver Hut since. I went for the first time with my boyfriend, and I asked for a dipping sauce when I grabbed my food. The brunette cashier rolled her eyes at me and called me a "b*tch" to her blonde coworker. In what world, would this be okay to call a customer a b word for asking for a sauce!? Before this too, she didn't want to take my order, and her animosity from earlier made me uncomfortable even being in the shop. Then, being called the b word was plain mean and uncalled for. The breakfast burrito is delicious if they cook the egg right, once my egg was so over cooked it was dark brown and rubber. Yummy basic soft serve too. It is like all the food you wish your high school cafeteria made, but far better tasting, with beer, and with a weed shop across the street if you're into that kinda thing. Do not expect protein packed vegan black bean quinoa mumbo jumbo, expect deep fried slices of heaven delivered to you in the form of crisp, golden tots -fried to absolute perfection. And you had better expect to spend at least $4-8 to fill you up on $2 singles. One isn't enough, but those little things are their specialty. I like their food. Although their burgers are pretty simple they're worth the 2 bucks. Their fry sauce is also really good. It's mostly the reason I end up craving their food. Fries are pretty good too, but I've noticed they have cut back on the amount they give you relative to what it used to be. A large size now used to be the size of a small. The quality of food is not high but they manage to present a fresh flavor in all food options that is lost in most franchised companies. I rated this location a four star because. The 5th star is always reserved for those restaurants that I will go out of my way to visit. 1) the service is above what is expected for the ambiance. 2) the taste exceeds expectations 3) the price is incredibly affordable. There's not a single seat in the place, or even a barstool for the "bar". So I went based on idea that they'll put gravy on anything. And what I can only call a brilliant menu for a fat guy who may be visiting after a trip to the smoke shop across the street. But there seems to be a good, bad, and an ugly. Growler selection looks pretty good, if not a little heavy on the ipa's. Price is average, as are the food prices. I ordered up the combo which was bacon cheesburger and fries. I got gravy on the side because gravy. My roomie got a cheeseburger and chili fries because chili. Shortly it was placed in front of me with the statement that "seasonings are over there. We don't season anything." What? I checked it out and sure enough no salt on the fries. Aww shit, everyone knows salt won't stick to a fry unless applied directly out of the fryer. That being said I watched as the salt I shook on them tumbled off to line the bottom of the take-away box. That made the sysco food-service crinkle cuts even sadder. Strike one IMHO. Got it all home and we both cracked a tall boy and went to work. Burger was looking good right away, but I couldn't help but notice it was one of those really perfect looking food service patties. Or at least I think it was, but given the somewhat firm texture and eerily perfect edges it seemed like a pre-formed. The bacon on the thing was the highlight, in between soft and crunchy and really good tasting. Roommate complained of his cheese sweating instead of melting, but I didn't notice. I dipped the bland crinkles in some of the white gravy and gave them a whirl. She didn't lie when she said they don't season. It kinda tasted like nothing. I dipped more and more onto each fry hoping for something, anything. But got nothing. Roomie furrowed his brow at his chili fries and proclaimed them "too sweet". I ate one, thought a moment, and gave my best opinion. Manwich. The chili sauce tasted just like Manwich. Not bad, just not really chili. Hrm. Then it happened. My friend ordered the same without cheese and liked it for its flavor. Full sized beef patty was juicy and flavorful. Grilled bun, was pleasantly toasted to produce a slight crisp. Fresh veggies, tomato, pickles, lettuce and thin fresh onion rings and a special sauce made for a surprising delicious burger. I would say it is as good if not tastier than an In n Out burger for taste and price. Tasted fresh. Burgers are cooked to order. So expect about a 4 to 5 minute wait. I do not understand how this establishment can make burgers 10x better than Carls Jr., and still sell it for less. I do not write yelp reviews often, but I felt I needed to because this business has earned far better than three stars. Each time I go here (which is more often than I'd ever like to admit), I have a wonderful customer service experience from some short blonde guy who you can instantly tell is genuinely a nice person. They always make my food fresh on the spot, and it is very consistent. By all means, it is no $15 brewery burger, but this is the best cheap burger I have had in Corvallis. If you go to this tiny restaurant next to a giant college during the peak hours of the day and you complain about it taking a little while, then you are pretentious and Beaverhut is too good for your business. read more

I mainly get the single burger which is $2 all day everyday (I'm cheap). For the deal, you can't really complain. It fills you up and is in my opinion pretty decent. It taste like a fair $2 dollar burger. Root beer float on the other hand, holy Jesus yes this place does it justice. The small is $3 and its definitely not a small. Its put in a medium size soda cup which I'm all game for. Mug root beer with soft serve vanilla ice cream on top. Plenty of ice cream to soda ratio.
