I met my Cousin, and Aunt for lunch before the Holidays, and what a great choice. I drove from Eugene, and they drove from Salem for our lunch. I had never been to this side of Albany before, so it was great. Heads up for those of you that have never been here, there is parking on the street, or some parking lots I believe. It's an older building with character. It was really busy, but they fit us right in. I don't quite remember everything on the menu, I do remember they had a wide variety of breakfast, and lunch. There were some salads calling my name, but ultimately there was a French dip that won me over. I must say, I am happy with my choice. It was very flavorful, and I also added a cup of chili. We were driving through and stopped after reading the great reviews. It ended up being a pretty straightforward brunch spot. The food was fine, but felt mass-produced. They weren't trying to dazzle the taste buds or wow you with inventive flavors, just getting orders out. I can't blame them because the place was packed with a 30 minute waitlist. They ran out of pancake batter and came back to re-take our orders, so it felt like double the wait to get our food. They reimbursed us with an 8 dollar discount, which was a nice gesture. All of us were happy with the flavor of our food--the veggie omelette, the bacon and blue omelette, the chicken fried steak, and the sweet cream pancake. There were some issues with temperature and texture. The food was room temperature, which was disappointing. You know it's bad when butter doesn't even begin to melt on toast or a pancake. Also, my boyfriend had difficulty cutting into his chicken fried steak, which he described as rubbery. Service was friendly and fast enough. My husband and I had a lovely breakfast at Brick and Mortar Cafe. They were very busy but we were able to be seated right away at the bar top. Our seating was comfortable and the restaurant was so cute! Very intimate feel. We LOVED the Mexican mocha, it was the perfect amount of spice! I did mine with oat milk and it was amazing, I compared it with the regular milk my husband got and they were both so good. I had the fried chicken Benedict and my husband and had the Carnitas Benedict. I preferred the Carnitas but they were both delicious! Can't wait to try more of their menu. read more

Brick & Mortar is located 20 minutes outside of Corvallis and we chose it with the hopes that it would be less of a wait than the few other restaurants located within the college town. We arrived around 11am and it was a 45 minute wait, which isn't terrible considering it was the Sunday after a home game. Once seated, it did take a while to order and get our food but the staff was very friendly. The food was your typical American breakfast and lunch, I got the club sandwich and it was pretty yummy. However, the French dip was underwhelming and the Buffalo & Liege was a little odd. The concept of a chicken and waffle sandwich sounded good but the waffles were too soggy. Overall, this is a good choice if you are in need of a breakfast spot in the Albany/Corvallis area but I have had better food elsewhere. read more

To start off, I ordered a Salted Caramel Latte, it was delicious !!!!! My husband ordered The Black & Blue Omelette, with Hash Browns, Mortar style ( gravy with fresh bacon & shredded cheese). We had to get up early this morning to run some errands and ended up driving through Albany when we found this place on Yelp. We decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did. It was very busy when we walked in, but the wait was short. We were starving and didn't want to wait for a table, so we sat at the bar instead. Best decision ever. The service was incredible. The girls were so sweet, Casey is amazing! and the hostess was incredibly accommodating. The food was hands down the best breakfast my husband and I have ever had. Awesome breakfast! Had Huevos Rancheros, which was delicious and nicely plated and my wife had the cinnamon role which she always has when we breakfast out and ranks this one her number 4 favorite. She would have ranked it higher but it is a bit too small for a breakfast roll. We would have given it 5 stars except for the coffee. Good coffee is a must for breakfast but this was bitter and tasted burned, more like Starbucks burned Sumatran crap. I roast and grind my own coffee and I know B&M can do better than this. There are over 70 countries in the world that grow coffee. I suggest trying coffee beans from Haiti, Bali, Ethiopia, or Guatamala. Any of those properly roasted will result in a cup 100 times better than the burned beans B&M are currently serving. read more

I have been here a handful of times. My first time here the food was amazing but the past few times it's really gone downhill. It's very inconsistent and the food isn't up to par as previously. My last visit on Thursday I got a biscuit instead of bread for a $2 substitute which is fine with me. It was probably the worst biscuit that I've ever had in my life. Their prices have gone up at least twice but there is a hit and miss in the quality of the food. Most recently, when the bill arrived, we had been charged for ranch sauce for our fries as a "side". It's a pretty popular place so if you have to wait you can have a seat, order from the cafe, or go on a walk and check out the nearby shops. The interior is so cute - industrial yet rustic and cozy. I got their homemade granola with a side of Greek yogurt and 5-grain toast which came w what tasted like the best homemade jam. They gave me a full cereal bowl (2 cups?) of granola! I ate a ton and still had granola left over to take home. It was delicious! My wife had the Belgium waffle w bacon and eggs. My daughter got the Liege waffle which has sugar cooked into the batter (per the waiter) taste like a funnel cake. If you don't like sweet, stick with the Belgium waffle. I went with my family and between us, we tried biscuits and gravy, lemon ricotta pancakes, bacon burger, waffles, salmon hash, and hash browns. The food all TASTED excellent, but as soon as we got it, it was slightly cooler than lukewarm. Almost room temperature for every single dish which was disappointing but we were hungry and the taste was good so we ate up. Drip coffee was also not warm but the mocha was yummy. I would definitely go back if I could have warm food but unless I'm super hungry again, I don't know if a plate of cold food is going to thrill me. The way it was presented, was appealing, however as I consumed the huevos, there was very few black beans and and veggies. Over half of the volume of food was shredded potatoes, way too much starch. The meal was over priced with so few veggies and too many potatoes.
