Belgian waffle

We were driving through and stopped after reading the great reviews. It ended up being a pretty straightforward brunch spot. The food was fine, but felt mass-produced. They weren't trying to dazzle the taste buds or wow you with inventive flavors, just getting orders out. I can't blame them because the place was packed with a 30 minute waitlist. They ran out of pancake batter and came back to re-take our orders, so it felt like double the wait to get our food. They reimbursed us with an 8 dollar discount, which was a nice gesture. Decent spot, but the hullabaloo didn't live up to the experience. I would look for somewhere smaller and more personal nearby.

Crispy chicken Sandwich

Stopped in for a little food while out for a drive. Always a lively friendly place. Took a seat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the bar tender. She mentioned the special of the day, crispy chicken sandwich which sounded good. Order came out promptly with a side of house fries. Very tasty sandwich. Fries were excellent. Overall a great meal

Bloody Mary

Brick & Mortar absolutely impressed me. The energy in this place felt positive the moment I walked in, relaxed, inviting, and genuinely warm. The customer service was top notch, every interaction felt thoughtful and attentive without being overbearing. And the Bloody Mary, Superb. Perfectly balanced, bold, and easily one of the best I've had in a long time. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. Overall, an excellent experience. Great vibes, great drinks, great people. I'll definitely be back.

Breakfast power bowl and prickly pear mojito...

Food is always delicious here and they have so many options- love the wide variety of breakfast and lunch foods available. Drinks are fantastic as well. The prickly pear mojito is my favorite. Service was excellent. Ambiance of restaurant is very nice too. Love the older part of Albany.

Chicken fried steak, hash browns were cooked perfectly, steak had a crispy buttermilk coating and the gravy was elevated and flavorful.

The food had amazing flavor and generous portions at an extremely reasonable cost. Highly recommend easy stop for a nice sit down breakfast/lunch. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Located in a nice old building, seating was comfortable with plenty of elbow room.

My husband and I had a lovely breakfast at Brick and Mortar Cafe. They were very busy but we were able to be seated right away at the bar top. Our seating was comfortable and the restaurant was so cute! Very intimate feel. We LOVED the Mexican mocha, it was the perfect amount of spice! I did mine with oat milk and it was amazing, I compared it with the regular milk my husband got and they were both so good. I had the fried chicken Benedict and my husband and had the Carnitas Benedict. I preferred the Carnitas but they were both delicious! Can't wait to try more of their menu.

Brick & Mortar is located 20 minutes outside of Corvallis and we chose it with the hopes that it would be less of a wait than the few other restaurants located within the college town. We arrived around 11am and it was a 45 minute wait, which isn't terrible considering it was the Sunday after a home game. Once seated, it did take a while to order and get our food but the staff was very friendly. The food was your typical American breakfast and lunch, I got the club sandwich and it was pretty yummy. However, the French dip was underwhelming and the Buffalo & Liege was a little odd. The concept of a chicken and waffle sandwich sounded good but the waffles were too soggy. Overall, this is a good choice if you are in need of a breakfast spot in the Albany/Corvallis area but I have had better food elsewhere.

Salted Caramel Latte

Such an amazing breakfast !!! The menu has a variety of different unique things to choose from, they have an amazing coffee menu too. To start off, I ordered a Salted Caramel Latte, it was delicious !!!!! My husband ordered The Black & Blue Omelette, with Hash Browns, Mortar style ( gravy with fresh bacon & shredded cheese). I ordered the Carnitas Benedict, with Hash Browns, Mortar style. It was delicious, the hash browns were probably the best I've had. The Benedict has the perfect poached egg, and was so good. The portions are huge, I could only finish half or less, My husband must have loved his omelette, cause his plate was empty when we left. Definitely recommend !!!!

Lemon Ricotta Pancake

Good breakfast. Had the lemon ricotta pancakes. Yum! For a heavier meal my son had the chicken and waffles. Friendly staff and nice sit down restaurant. We were traveling from Corvallis to Portland. Would go back and try again.

If you've ever rolled into Albany late in the evening and thought, "Now where in the world am I…read moregonna get a decent bite?" allow me to point you toward an old standby: Pop's Branding Iron. This place has been holding down the fort for what feels like forever, and walking in feels a bit like stepping into a time capsule where the coffee's hot, the plates are big, and nobody's in a hurry to reinvent the diner. One of my personal favorites is the patty melt simple, classic, and exactly what a patty melt ought to be. My daughter has her own favorite on the menu Monte-Cristo with fries that could probably feed a small ranch crew, That's kind of part of the charm here. The portions are big, the prices are fair, and when a lot of places in town have already shut their lights off for the night, Pop's is still there doing its thing. Now, I'll be honest it shows its age a little. A bit of cleaning and polishing here and there wouldn't hurt. But honestly, that worn-in feel is part of the story. If you're looking for something affordable, old-fashioned, and dependable especially later in the evening Pop's Branding Iron is definitely worth a stop. Four stars from me, and a tip of the hat to a place that's been feeding folks for generations.

Bodhi Cafe is the kind of neighborhood spot you hope every town has--comfortable, unpretentious,…read moreand consistently good. The menu leans into classic American comfort food, and everything feels like it's made with care rather than rushed out of a kitchen. The standout for me is the turkey Reuben. It's one of those sandwiches you think about later in the day. The turkey is tender, the sauerkraut adds just the right amount of tang, and everything comes together perfectly on grilled rye. This Reuben is dressed with a smoked pepper spread instead of mustard and this is what absolutely turns it up compared to your usual turkey Reuben. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the kind of place where you can sit with a cup of coffee and take your time. If you're in Salem and looking for a solid comfort-food café, Bodhi Cafe--and especially that turkey Reuben--is well worth the stop.

I'm so glad Bodhi has opened this spot in Albany. I've been in twice and the food is quality,…read moreportions are generous, and service is quick. The prices are reasonable and give folks in town another breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot. Because they're gaining in popularity (you go, Bodhi!), I really hope they put up signage, like Ba's did, that tells people to order before sitting. When I was there on Friday, I managed to grab the last available spot after I ordered. There were many people who were holding spots while they waited for others to join and others who had ordered but were looking around for a place to sit. People don't seem to get the concept of sit after you order, so I hope the shop can help remind/teach folks.
