There's nowhere else I'd rather be for watching the IT equivalent of watching paint dry - my awesome tech support people doing best to install Windows 11 on my laptop through a remote connection. I thought I was here for a quick stop-over between work meetings downtown Albany, but a quick email check turned into a "hey maybe I should use their WiFi" and unexpectedly and quite fortuitously for me turned into a gift of two and a half hours all to myself of people-watching. My travel companion told a couple next to us that they looked really cute and they shared that it's the love that's found towards the greater age in life that's more carefree. An environmental specialist who was sitting next to me and generously passed on the Wi-Fi password (it was all lowercase just as she remembered but had a couple extra words after the key one) is now a LinkedIn connection. The matcha latte is amazing. Definitely considering getting a large bag of loose leaf Earl Gray to take home with me - perhaps before the download spinning wheel reaches the magic 75%. Whenever I roll into a new town, I always look for a local coffee roaster and cafe that also serves some simple coffee centric food, AND has tables outside for my dog and I to enjoy. In Albany Oregon, that place was Margin (Downtown on 2nd). Really nice, homey and welcoming interior. Feels like inside someone's home to me. Lots of tables and some comfy chairs to sit and chat and enjoy your tea and coffee drinks and a pastry or piece of quiche or pre-made sandwich. 2 outside tables right in front that were clean each of the 4 times I stopped. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a welcome and the barista service is efficient and well made. I had both just coffee and coffee with a blueberry muffin, and coffee with a piece of spinach and cheddar quiche. Everything is excellent and delivered so quickly, you'll find yourself saying "thank you so much" even if you don't usually do this. You're gonna get back a "thanks for coming in", or "our pleasure" in return ... and it's heartfelt. This is a lost art in my opinion and so glad to see it alive and well at so many of the places I stopped in Oregon, but none more than here. Parking is on the street and I never had a problem in downtown Albany, even in my RV van ... and it's free! Thanks Margin for making my few day stay in Albany such a pleasure read more

The orange spice roll was delicate, fluffy, not too sweet, and very well balanced with my evening tea. Music is not too loud and a great temperature. Waiting for a rental car and craving something warm I walked into Margin. I am glad I did. First was the bright and open atmosphere. Pleasant music and conversation were calming and inviting. Coffee here is excellent. I always try the americano as a baseline. If it's weak and watery I don't go back. This one was rich and robust. My barista was friendly and professional. Made the coffee quickly and served it up hot. I sat for 20 or so minutes and found the whole experience to be calming and relaxing. Will be back! read more

We love this place. Their lox and bagels have a secret ingredient that makes them irresistable. It's probably just cultured cream cheese, who knows. The baristas have always been nothing but friendly to me. They're really excited to chat roasts and coffee flavor profiles/notes. Because I've been a few times, I've also had the opportunity to see them engage with other customers and have only ever seen them express genuine interest in chatting with others who come through the shop. Most importantly, they're serious about crafting good brews. At this point, I've been enough times that I've had their espresso-based drinks, espresso shots, drip coffee, and pourovers. What a great find! A friend recommended this stop, who makes the trip over from Albany just for their coffee. As soon as I parked I could tell this place was it! It was the business storefront on the block and had a line inside with folks studying, chatting, meeting and hanging out in the airy, modern coffee shop inside. The wait in line on a Saturday was certainly worth it, I ordered the Honey and the Vanilla lattes to try and was not disappointed. The smaller size was perfect, the drinks were not too sugary or syrupy. They roast their own beans, which are for sale as well. I noticed some great breakfast options that I will have to scope out another day, most they make in house, but they also work with another local bakery for some sweets that were for sale. Plus, staff were super helpful with my questions and general new-ness. I always ask for recommendations when going to a new shop, which is how I ended up with the Honey and Vanilla Lattes. This will definitely be my go-top hang out and coffee shop in the future. read more

Probably the best coffeeshop and cafe in Albany. Great coffee quality, ample seating, nice inside setup/vibes, friendly staff, wifi, and bathrooms. Their coffee was good. They even have traditional cappuccinos as an option (6oz) in addition to the 12oz. They also have a small selection of pastries (few gluten free and/or vegan though, there's a bakery next door that does lots of GF and V options). Came in on MLK day around 11am. There was ample amount of street parking 1 block down. There was a decent amount of people inside the coffee shop, but the tables seem around 6' apart so it didn't feel cramped! No line to get my coffee and the cashier was super nice! We always look for a local coffee shop when visiting a different town and Margin did not disappoint. It has a great vibe, and clearly a local favorite based on the number of people hanging out there. The coffee was excellent. I had an oat milk latte. Their roast is exceptional. My sons chai latte was very good, although a little spicier than he likes, so if you are a low spice person you might ask for it toned down a bit.
