Small business that is trying to grow. Friendly people, good tasting coffee and they put a lot of work and pride into their product.

It was very busy when we walked in, but the wait was short. We were starving and didn't want to wait for a table, so we sat at the bar instead. Best decision ever. The service was incredible. The girls were so sweet, Casey is amazing! and the hostess was incredibly accommodating. The food was hands down the best breakfast my husband and I have ever had. If you haven't been here yet, you absolutely need to try it, you won't be sorry. The only regret you'll have is not coming in sooner. Even the coffee was fire!

I had never been to this side of Albany before, so it was great. Heads up for those of you that have never been here, there is parking on the street, or some parking lots I believe. It's an older building with character. It was really busy, but they fit us right in. I don't quite remember everything on the menu, I do remember they had a wide variety of breakfast, and lunch. There were some salads calling my name, but ultimately there was a French dip that won me over. I must say, I am happy with my choice. It was very flavorful, and I also added a cup of chili. I would recommend both. Service was fast, and the staff were all really nice. Sorry, I didn't get any pics. I was too excited to see my family.

The lamb with chimichurri sauce and tapenade was absolutely amazing!!! The wine pairing suggested was perfect! Jesse did a fantastic job throughout the meal. He warned there were reservations we could be worked into and we reassured that we could be patient, but we felt very well attended to at all points. The roulade appetizer was wonderful! We definitely will work Sybaris into our regular date night.

It is always a big deal for me when I get to tell my wife that we are going to Sybaris. Tonight was going to be even more memorable because we brought our daughter along to celebrate Mother's Day. Our problem began when we ran into traffic and were 15 minutes late. At the door, our waiter informed us that the restaurant seats people every half hour. I apologized and we were seated. If I had known what was coming I would have turned around at the door and left. What followed was two hours of some of the rudest service I have ever experienced. I spent much of my youth working in restaurants in Upstate NY. I know that customers can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but our only mistake was that we were 15 minutes late. We spent the whole meal being polite while this guy continuously made us feel uncomfortable. It's difficult to describe the way this guy was acting. The food came out and it was good, but the waiter was coming off like wise ass. At the end of the meal there were hardly any people in the restaurant. The waiter gave me the bill then waited 15 minutes to pick up my card. I guess he got his satisfaction. If there was any doubt about his intentions, when we were getting ready to leave, he kept asking me if I wanted more water. That's an asshat move. Much to my wife's dismay, I tipped him fair because that's just what you do. My daughter gained a learning experience on the nature of jerks so I suppose that's something, but overall it was a sad twist on what was supposed to be a grand event. Of course we can't ever come back, but please take this information and remind your staff that they are a big part of the dinning experience.

The menu leans into classic American comfort food, and everything feels like it's made with care rather than rushed out of a kitchen. The standout for me is the turkey Reuben. It's one of those sandwiches you think about later in the day. The turkey is tender, the sauerkraut adds just the right amount of tang, and everything comes together perfectly on grilled rye. This Reuben is dressed with a smoked pepper spread instead of mustard and this is what absolutely turns it up compared to your usual turkey Reuben. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the kind of place where you can sit with a cup of coffee and take your time. If you're in Salem and looking for a solid comfort-food café, Bodhi Cafe--and especially that turkey Reuben--is well worth the stop.

The prices are reasonable and give folks in town another breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot. Because they're gaining in popularity (you go, Bodhi!), I really hope they put up signage, like Ba's did, that tells people to order before sitting. When I was there on Friday, I managed to grab the last available spot after I ordered. There were many people who were holding spots while they waited for others to join and others who had ordered but were looking around for a place to sit. People don't seem to get the concept of sit after you order, so I hope the shop can help remind/teach folks.
