This was a good spot to fill the need for sweet bread. Coming from AZ there are slight differences but this was pretty good and probably as close to authentic as you will get in Albany. Very disappointed, Cautious Ordering Cakes. Ordered a month in advance and my cake it wasn't ready on agreed date - luckily I scheduled pickup a day in advance! Went to go pick it up the next day before the event. Was supposed to be a 1/4 double layer sheet cake with real strawberry slices and whipped cream frosting. For decorations I chose pink roses covering all sides of the cake with pink lettering on top of the white background spelling "Welcome Baby Sophia!" - requested to leave some space For I was putting baby booties for a baby shower. When I got the cake you could see the cake through the white frosting on the top layer, "welcome baby" was on the cake but what we hope was Sophia was actually spelt Sofia sitting poorly on top of the roses on the edge. I could barely see the name! Looked like scribbles on the flowers. I explained how I was disappointed on how the name was spelt and they told me since they put booties on the cake (I didn't request this, I purchased my own) that was for the inconvenience. No offer to fix it. When I presented this cake at the event we realized it didn't have real strawberries, just strawberry jelly. I've purchased from this location multiple times but for 10$!! to be the only reimbursement for this large of a cake mishap I truly hope people are cautious when ordering custom cakes from this location from now on... read more

First of all, the Mexi-Cookies/Pastry/Sweetbreads are still pretty decent; happy we have them in Albany and appreciate the craft of a baker. The Bolillos/Mexi-French Bread Rolls, however, did not have any 'substance'; more like a Franz hotdog or burger bun texture. Too bad, because an authentic Bolillo improves any sandwich. I, for one, am happy to pay more to get the 'authenticity' back - 'air bread' can be easily be found anywhere. read more

A wonderful hidden gem of a Spanish Bakery. Their prices are the best! My kids love it because its so cheep I let them have two of even four things instead of one. Besides I LOVE Spanish/Mexican pastries way more then stuff like doughnuts. All of their pastries are very flavorful without relying on sugar to be the ONLY flavor. I personally love the pineapple empanadas and their cute little turtle shaped bread that has vanilla and cinnamon. I've only ever had one bad experience here and that was not due to them. This man was arguing that the cake they made was not 'white' and looked bad. To which i say, he was wrong, the cake looked like it had white frosting to me and the flowers on it looked very cute and colorful. Their bakery products are very good. I tried them out based on Yelp reviews and the reviews are spot on. I went on a Monday afternoon and they didn't have chocoflan (maybe that is only available weekends or I was too late in the day). They do not speak much English so a working knowledge of Spanish is good. I picked out what I wanted and put on a tray and they packaged up for me. Since I was visiting in Oregon, they did not give me a bag to take my packages to the car so I had to juggle the goods until I got to the car; thank goodness, I didn't drop them in the parking lot. For an out-of-towner like me, it would have been useful to have labels on on the products to tell me what it was, but I just picked out what looked good, so I don't actually know what specific pastries I purchased, but everyone enjoyed them anyway. read more

Around 6:30 am headed to Dutch Bros for blended mocha, over to Rigoberto's for veggie burrito, then swung by Yuly's for a few pastries (conchas, pan dulce, cuernos, empanadas, orejas, polvorones and many more to choose from). Inquired about the tamale's. Yup every weekend, pork and chicken. $15 for a dozen, available around 8 am. Yulys opens at 5 am, forgot to ask when they close. I could have started my day here with tasty treats! Downside, bolillos were not yet out of the oven. This was my second time here, I'll be back. read more
