Baked goods

Great hours. Early start with a 7a open to get the day going. Staff was very nice and answered any questions. Breakfast menu and lunch menu. There is care being taken in sourcing organic items as they can. The pastry and baked goods were great and fresh. Glad to see the new location in our downtown area. Prices are reasonable and the food was well made.

One Pistachio latte and one tall Bailey's coffee. Delicious.

Big plates of delicious breakfast, lunch or just tasty coffee and a big sweet flaky Danish. Nice tables of four. Seating by a big glass window for two. $$ - $$$. Considering prices of things today. DEFINITELY WORTH IT‼ You oder at counter and the bring your order to your # tag . Self service for glass of water and utensils. Also, bus your table. Good vibes‼

It was very busy when we walked in, but the wait was short. We were starving and didn't want to wait for a table, so we sat at the bar instead. Best decision ever. The service was incredible. The girls were so sweet, Casey is amazing! and the hostess was incredibly accommodating. The food was hands down the best breakfast my husband and I have ever had. If you haven't been here yet, you absolutely need to try it, you won't be sorry. The only regret you'll have is not coming in sooner. Even the coffee was fire!

I had never been to this side of Albany before, so it was great. Heads up for those of you that have never been here, there is parking on the street, or some parking lots I believe. It's an older building with character. It was really busy, but they fit us right in. I don't quite remember everything on the menu, I do remember they had a wide variety of breakfast, and lunch. There were some salads calling my name, but ultimately there was a French dip that won me over. I must say, I am happy with my choice. It was very flavorful, and I also added a cup of chili. I would recommend both. Service was fast, and the staff were all really nice. Sorry, I didn't get any pics. I was too excited to see my family.

If you've ever rolled into Albany late in the evening and thought, "Now where in the world am I…read moregonna get a decent bite?" allow me to point you toward an old standby: Pop's Branding Iron. This place has been holding down the fort for what feels like forever, and walking in feels a bit like stepping into a time capsule where the coffee's hot, the plates are big, and nobody's in a hurry to reinvent the diner. One of my personal favorites is the patty melt simple, classic, and exactly what a patty melt ought to be. My daughter has her own favorite on the menu Monte-Cristo with fries that could probably feed a small ranch crew, That's kind of part of the charm here. The portions are big, the prices are fair, and when a lot of places in town have already shut their lights off for the night, Pop's is still there doing its thing. Now, I'll be honest it shows its age a little. A bit of cleaning and polishing here and there wouldn't hurt. But honestly, that worn-in feel is part of the story. If you're looking for something affordable, old-fashioned, and dependable especially later in the evening Pop's Branding Iron is definitely worth a stop. Four stars from me, and a tip of the hat to a place that's been feeding folks for generations.

Pop's Branding Iron is a good, solid diner with quite a few menu options. Breakfast (served all…read moreday) is my usual go-to here, but I've sampled a few appetizers and bites of food from the dinner menu here and there. The portions are very generous, and considering the prices of food these days, their prices are very reasonable. This is a great spot to eat at if you're looking for a lot of food at a great value. The food and service are about average, but to me, this is all a decent diner really needs to be. A big pro is that they are open late (7am-10pm daily). I recommend that they update their online menu, which advertises serving dishes 24-hours a day, which may confuse some customers. All in all, a good, reliable spot to eat a meal! There's a lot of dining space here, so it's good for both small and larger parties.

I thought I was here for a quick stop-over between work meetings downtown Albany, but a quick email check turned into a "hey maybe I should use their WiFi" and unexpectedly and quite fortuitously for me turned into a gift of two and a half hours all to myself of people-watching. My travel companion told a couple next to us that they looked really cute and they shared that it's the love that's found towards the greater age in life that's more carefree. It is always a big deal for me when I get to tell my wife that we are going to Sybaris. Tonight was going to be even more memorable because we brought our daughter along to celebrate Mother's Day. Our problem began when we ran into traffic and were 15 minutes late. At the door, our waiter informed us that the restaurant seats people every half hour. I apologized and we were seated. If I had known what was coming I would have turned around at the door and left. What followed was two hours of some of the rudest service I have ever experienced. I spent much of my youth working in restaurants in Upstate NY. I know that customers can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but our only mistake was that we were 15 minutes late. We spent the whole meal being polite while this guy continuously made us feel uncomfortable. It's difficult to describe the way this guy was acting. The food came out and it was good, but the waiter was coming off like wise ass. At the end of the meal there were hardly any people in the restaurant. The waiter gave me the bill then waited 15 minutes to pick up my card. I guess he got his satisfaction. If there was any doubt about his intentions, when we were getting ready to leave, he kept asking me if I wanted more water. That's an asshat move. Much to my wife's dismay, I tipped him fair because that's just what you do. My daughter gained a learning experience on the nature of jerks so I suppose that's something, but overall it was a sad twist on what was supposed to be a grand event. Of course we can't ever come back, but please take this information and remind your staff that they are a big part of the dinning experience.
