I went about 2 months ago, that time the customer in front of me used the last of hot fudge and was not told until I was given ice cream not toppings. I was thinking this was a one off, I went back, asked what size of sundae I wanted, pointed to the middle bowl and was asked if I wanted medium or large within the middle bowl. Okay we finally get to the hot fudge part and she scoops out the fudge with a hard wad of hot fudge. Telling me that's what happens when it's the last of the fudge. I have had too many hot fudge sundaes and never been anywhere that has "ran out" or had a hard wad of harded fudge. Okay the women working were nice polite, when it came time to pay something happened to the register and panic set in, on how much change I should receive. The staff are mostly young kids getting a good start on the work life but have great personalities. Fun group of employees that seem to enjoy what they do. I went in there planning to get some ice cream for myself and my Mother. There was a young kid standing behind the counter with a sour look on his face. He never said hello, how are you, or what are you interested in. He just stood there lamely. A young woman came over and I greeted her, since the boy didn't know that was part of his job. In fact greeting a customer is a very basic skill. Does the owner who hires lackluster kids like this really think he's going to be successful with help like that? I did order some ice cream for Mom but declined to get some for myself based on the poor service. The owner has a sign up asking for cash. The sign says if he doesn't get cash, the banks get more money. The owner should concern himself/herself with hiring someone with legit customer service skills. The money will come later. Put your customers first. As it is they lost out on my business. I bought something for Mom because she wanted ice cream. I'd rather not ever do business there. My wife and I stopped in for dessert following our anniversary dinner this evening. The building isn't much to look at, but everything was clean inside. I don't think of BJ's as the trendy ice-cream place, but my goodness, their ice-cream is solid! I went with a cup of my old stand-by chocolate chip mint which was delicious, and tried bananas foster... oh my Lord! That stuff is incredible! I got the cookie dough ice cream and the ice cream part was good, however the cookie dough was extremely salty? I'm not sure if it was just an off batch or what but all I could taste was salt anytime I had a piece of cookie dough. After a half-day of hiking near Lebanon and returning home, stopped in with housemate to get a shake. I had a waffle cup which sadly became too tough to chew/eat not long after getting it. The ice cream choice was "okay". Definitely did not taste like I had imagined the flavor would taste. (Note to self/others: taste test everything first!). Probably will not return but for those who enjoy this location and ice cream, great. But others? Check around is my best recommendation, too. Why is it so hard to find an Ice Cream Parlor? While driving through Albany OR. Last week, I had a massive craving for scooped hard Ice Cream. No, not frozen Yogurt or soft serve... Ice Cream! Real hard scooped ice cream! I google searched and it wasn't as easy as you'd think. Just as we are leaving Albany, my craving surfaced again, along with the frustration and right in front of me is an BJ's Ice Cream Parlor! Yee Haw! We whipped around and I purchased a delicious scoop of Strawberry Ice Cream on a Sugar Cone. What a relief. Very gratifying. My daughter and her friend were with me, so we all enjoyed the cool treat. The was nice lady was very accommodating and allowed the girls to sample what ever they wanted and we all left happily licking away. We found ourselves in Albany again today and of course we had to stop in again. This time I got a couple pics. What a treat. The Ice Cream Parlors are going the way of the Meat markets/Butchers... Hard to find, but very gratifying when you do. It will be a regular stop whenever we are in Albany, for sure. read more

I only ever had BJ's great icecream before my son's 2nd birthday party where we ordered his amazing cake!! The best tasting cake I have ever had, and not to mention the best looking one also! I took a couple of my son's toys in to put on top and told her what I wanted. It turned out better than I pictured! The leftovers also stay good in freezer for a long time! The owner doesn't have ingredients available for customers. The young women behind the counter seemed VERY irritated that I would even be asking such questions. I asked if the Pralines and Cream had gluten and they said "it's just pecans," and I said that sometimes candied nuts can have flour. She retorted "we don't know if pecans have gluten." I asked if there was ingredient information I could look at so I could I could see if I was able to have some. She did pull up the container to show me that there really wasn't information available. But both workers were very dismissive and I would never spend a dime here again. As it was we were taking my niece here for her birthday so I didn't want to make a scene but I didn't get any ice cream since I couldn't verify if I would be allergic to any ingredients. One girl had an injured hand. Neither of them wear gloves, or wash their hands the entire time. They handled cash, and still no hand washing, or gloves. The owner came in, and didn't help these girls out either. There was a huge line, and they asked him to bring in another employee, then he left. We won't be back. Won't return due to horrible customer service. Went here with my 4th grader and two of her softball teammates for an after-game treat. The girls were using another mom's phone to take silly selfies and wanted to include the ice cream in the background from their table right next to the parents. All of a sudden, one of the women behind the counter started yelling at them that they needed to delete any pictures "right now!" because she thought that she might have been in the background of a picture without them asking her permission. Really? They're 9 and 10 years old and were extremely polite to the employees the entire time. Completely rude and unnecessary on the part of the employee behind the counter. If she had a concern, she should have spoken to the kids' moms or respectfully asked the kids not to take any pictures in case she might be in one, not yelled as though they were purposefully doing something to upset anyone. read more

Wow! BJ's is very impressive. They have a wide, unique variety of flavors. I got their Coffee Caramel Ice cream, my wife got their Cookie Dough ice cream. Both were easily the one of the best of that flavor that we have had. The two workers were very friendly and nice. We cannot wait to come back again and again to try all of their other unique ice cream flavors like pear and peppermint. read more
