Wow! $2 for a Large twist cone. Winner! Filled to the bottom and not hollow like DQ cones. Licked clean, tastes like chocolate milk as my husband says. Friendly family owned. Happy to stop by here whenever we're in the neighborhood. Mmm!!

Almost every town has a place like this. One remembered most fondly by those that started visiting as a child as they and the town grow up around it. Our first visit to King Kone was many years ago on a hot summer day for a soft serve cone. We weren't disappointed with the ridiculously oversize serving. Since then we've been back for burgers and shakes as a relatively quick stop (5 minutes off of I-5) on road trips. The atmosphere is rough with patched linoleum floors and four Formica booths. The only touch of decor are the white lace curtains and no smoking signs. This is a mom-and-pop operation with the wife taking orders and making the ice cream treats while the husband runs the grill, but we've never gotten a warm feel from the owners. Really more taciturn (rarely a word spoken) and I get the impression they have seen everything pass through these doors. The burgers come in a variety of patty sizes and quantities with a number of different fixings. The larger burgers are cut in half and speared with toothpicks and the fries are your typical crinkle cut variety. Sodas are Pepsi products. What is hard to believe is that this also operates as a drive through. Not terribly obvious from the road, but we saw several use it on our most recent visit. For ice cream, they have about a dozen flavors of hard ice cream in addition to soft serve, which I think is the way to go. When we exited a different way this time, the road took us past fancy new condos about a block down the road. It really was a striking contrast to the run down appearance of King Kone and its neighboring businesses. I do have a fondness for old fashioned diners, especially The East Wind Drive-In by Bridge of the Gods in the Gorge, but King Kone isn't on the top of my diner list.

Restaurant was dirty and tired. Left and went to Burgerville. Also not easy to "see"--drove by twice before realizing it was there.

The inside looks just about the same as the outside. No card, cash only. Smells like Grease. There is no reason to go in there.

Best soft serve ice cream in town. Light and creamy. A family tradition to go when visiting Albany.

It's always fun to come here and get a quick and inexpensive cone and munch on it while we head back to Corvallis.

We showed up in stages but the bartender must have been having a bad day he would get one drink order at a time is what my peeps told me, I thought they were joking. We ordered 2 Bloody Marys and one didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it so we mixed the 2 together. The food came out real slow and kind of haphazardly. I will say the hummus was good. The menu is American and Indian so I was excited. Some people's burgers were way over done and after the food all came out, I was informed they were all out of Dahl Makhani Which was disappointing. So I asked for Chana masala and after a while they came and told me that they were out of that too, so I settled for a black and blue burger with tots. My burger came and thankfully it wasn't overdone and it came with fries. Now the last 2 at the table are still waiting for their burgers none too happy. As I finish my Bloody Mary I notice a 1 1/2 inch crack in my glass which I take up to the bartender and let him know, he didn't say anything. Now in the meantime 2 people at the table are saying the chicken Caesar wrap they ordered didn't taste right and opened it up to find what looked like curried chicken chunks that were rinsed off inside the wrap. A while later I order to Kona's for my friend and I, a while later he comes over to tell me they are out of Kona, so I order 2 different beers, and as I am getting down to the end of my beer there's a shard of glass. I take this up to the bars and tell the guy and show him letting him know I think I swallowed a piece and they better check the dishwasher or something. He throws the shard of glass in the garbage and walks away. The kicker 3 of us had bad stomach aches the next day. I don't know what's going on but I would avoid this place

We had a group of 11, so a bigger group, but the restaurant was pretty empty so we were sat quickly. Great start. Lots of us have worked in customer service jobs, so we tried to be flexible and understand the work of a large group. Unfortunately by the end of the night we felt like our table had been put at less priority than the few tables of small groups around us. We had to flag down staff to ask for refills on fries, and when we did get them, one of the baskets genuinely had like 10 fries maximum. Our meals came with drink refills, but most of us never received any. One of my friends burgers randomly came with no tomatoes, which we later learned was for someone else. Half of our orders were billed wrong, which I don't think was our waiters fault, as the staff assigned to our table kept changing. They also sang happy birthday to 2 other tables around us, but never came to ours. This might not be accurate, but it felt like as a group of people in their 20's we were deemed lower priority to the younger, as well as older customers. Our servers were nice, and I know food service shifts can be exhausting, but we just wanted someone to sing happy birthday and treat us with the same attention as other customers.
