The front hostess stand and check out area at Dizzy Hen

Special local stop in Philomath that deserves to be on your radar. We came here twice for breakfast, but dinner is also served. For breakfast, the Dizzy Hen is a no-brainer. It's one of the best breakfasts in the area. My strongest recommendation is for the less "traditional" breakfast items, and towards the more unique. For example, I loved the pork ragu and grits with a fried egg. The broth, pieces of chard and fall apart pork were wholesome, delicious and well seasoned. I had a "traditional breakfast" my second visit, and while the homemade biscuits and house made sage sausage were clear standouts, in getting a traditional egg scramble, I felt I'd missed out on the creativity of their offerings. The baked goods are excellent. They have a nice list of breakfast cocktails, including a solid-looking Bloody Mary. The Coffee service (I tried their drip, but they have a full expresso bar) is the one spot that could be improved, in my opinion. I personally prefer a stronger cup of coffee. The family and staff running this place are friendly, engaging and keep things moving. A solid spot.

The food, service and friendly staff highlighted the amazing pastries and breakfast that the team at Dizzy Hen provided us at breakfast today. A quaint, friendly, tasty cafe. In the quaint downtown of Philomath, Or. Recommended by Jenny from the block at OSF in Corvallis. She asked that I keep it a secret, but this place deserves all the love because it was a great recommendation that hit the spot, thanks Jenny and thanks team at Dizzy Hen, great job!!! We will definitely return!

Traditional Breakfast of 2 Eggs

I came in with a party of three this morning. When I arrived, I was told to write my name on the waitlist and to wait until everyone in my party arrived before being seated, even though there were plenty of open tables. It was confusing to see other groups seated right away while we waited, and it left us feeling a bit like our presence was more of an inconvenience than a welcome. Clearer communication about seating policies would really help. Once one of my friends arrived, we were eventually seated, though it felt delayed. Our third joined shortly after. Service throughout the meal was a little inconsistent--we were sometimes overlooked, but to the staff's credit, they did kindly check on coffee a few times. The food itself was excellent--fresh and flavorful, which made the visit worthwhile. However, at checkout, we asked if the bill could be split and were told it wasn't possible, even though one of my friends who comes often has had it done before. Consistency with policies like that would go a long way. We also waited at the counter about 10 minutes, and the staff member seemed frustrated to help, which reinforced that feeling that we were a bit of a burden to serve. Overall, the food was great, but the service left us disappointed. With more attentiveness, consistency, and a warmer welcome, this could easily be a five-star spot.... But unfortunately I will not be back unless service changes.

Continuously fantastic food & service. A great local establishment. Our Feta, leek, mushrooms omelette with a side of bacon - delicious!

Cute spot in philomath. Interesting breakfast sando, it has sweet potato puree and caramelized onions which were good. Service was very good.

Biscuits and Gravy with 2 Eggs

Quaint yet popular diner just outside of Corvallis with great pastries and very solid breakfast dishes. My family is visiting Oregon for the weekend. My dad had a meeting for the first half of the day so my mom, brother, and I decided to explore the local food scene and we came across Dizzy Hen. When we arrived we wrote our name down on a list - the place was very crowded because of the University of Washington vs OSU game. We waited about 30 minutes until we had a table ready. While we waited we were given the option to order drinks and grab something from the wide selection of pastries at the front counter. Once seated we placed our order for food and drinks. My brother and I ordered a Bloody Mary and Irish Coffee respectively and my mom got a regular coffee. For food, I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs, my mom got a breakfast platter with a biscuit , and my brother got a bacon omelette. We also go an almond croissant to hold us over until our main meal came out. The drinks were solid - the Irish coffee packed a punch and the Bloody Mary tasted perfect. The along croissant was extra flakey - and the almond filling struck a solid balance of sweet and heavy almond flavor. The food was top notch - I haven't had biscuits and gravy in a long time and this definitely hit the spot. The biscuits were buttery and light and the gravy was seasoned perfectly. Also, the roasted potatoes that came on the side were some of the best I've had in a long time (my mom and brother agreed). The omelette my brother got was simple but done to perfection. And my mom's breakfast platter was solid too - I believe they make their sausage patty's from scratch and you can tell from the quality. On top of the great food, the staff of the Dizzy Hen were fantastic. The place was slammed with people and everyone kept working with a smile and took time to talk to every customer with great service. If you find yourself in Corvallis , I'd say this place is a must visit. The perfect place to go for fueling up before game day or if you want a very well done breakfast. 5/5

One of the best meals I've had that I still think about it. I was surprised for there to be a bit of a wait on a friday morning. It took roughly 20 mins to be seated but it was most definitely worth it. Our server was so kind, funny and made good food recommendations. I ordered The Dizzy and subbed the ham for sausage. It was a huge portion, I had to take it to-go. It was so flavorful and the biscuits were so soft. Definitely some of the best I've tried. Their pastries looked so good but I was too full to try them. Everyone else also enjoyed their food and still mention it to this day. If I ever find myself in Philomath, I will be back here. 11/10 recommend!! Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10

This is such a lovely quaint little restaurant with simple yet absolutely delicious food. the staff are so friendly and the quantities are enormous. I thought the French toast bread pudding was phenomenal.

Traditional Breakfast with two scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, and a biscuit.

I've been to The Dizzy Hen twice now for brunch, and I've enjoyed both experiences! The traditional breakfast, and biscuits with gravy are hearty and filling, you won't leave hungry, that's for sure! The atmosphere is very warm and cozy, the service is wonderful, and menu items are priced affordably.

This is an adorable breakfast house in Philomath! We came in at 11am on a weekday and it was PACKED. We took this as a good sign and decided to wait. The staff worked tirelessly to ensure everyone was comfortable and happy. The pastries looked divine and the atmosphere was homey. Our food was SO yummy! It was recommended to us by some locals to get the pork ragu. This is a MUST. We also ate the Breakfast Sando which tasted like pigs-in-a-blanket. The eggs Benedict was good - we weren't as big of fans for the slightly sweet gravy but this is a personal taste preference. The portions were huge so we had a decent sized second meal for dinner at home! Finally, the servers were probably the most pleasant and loveliest servers we had ever encountered. We will definitely return!

OH EM GEE. This is a not to miss gem. Everything was perfection! And everything is homemade. Imagine that the best French toast and most Delicious apple pie filling had a baby. That is Dizzy Hen's French toast. Scrumptious. The Traditional breakfast was equally delectable with bacon dubbed "the best bacon of my life" and the sausage was to die for. The baked goods are also perfection. We tried a piece of the apple tart (?) and the crust was flaky and melted in your mouth. We were all drooling. Opens at 8:30 am and already has a line so think about timing it based on how long it takes someone to eat. Sooo worth the wait and they have coffee to sip on while you do so. The vibe is casual and warm and the service is excellent. HIGHLY recommend and we will be adding this local favorite to our regular rotation. YUM! TIP: went back a second time and the food and service were just as good as before. If you can make it in on a Friday we had no wait!

Very unique and lovely restaurant and food. Not an extensive menu (1page) and changes slightly from those posted here but what they do, they do very well!

They have several gluten free options for breakfast. Their omelette s are generally GF, the vegan hash and pork ragu are also GF. I'm sure They have other GF stuff as well. For lunchtime their menu changes weekly but they always have something… Read more

The menu is broad enough that there's plenty to pick from. We were there for dinner. The food was delicious! Mom had the grilled cheese with sweet potato fries (they were even good as cold leftovers!!). The sandwich comes with a combo of 3 melted cheeses. Dad had the honey glazed chicken. Also really good. Hubby had the 2-meat BBQ plate with pulled pork and 1/2 rack of ribs. He really liked his ribs. He was pleased with the baked beans, too. And I got the steak salad. Delicious! When trying a new place, I always go for that and I was not disappointed one bit! I tried both the baker's roll (rosemary and sage today) and the heart attack roll. Neither made me think I was eating GF. As first-timers, we were given free chocolate chip cookies. The centers were soft and moist with crisp edges. I do like a ymmy sweet to finish off the meal. It's really nice to have a GF restaurant where the family can all go and find something without compromising selection or taste. We'll certainly be back!!

As we…read morewere walking to the table, they asked if it was our first visit (it was), as that meant complimentary chocolate chip cookies! The large menu can seem a bit overwhelming, but once you figure out how the BBQ plates work, it's easy to order one of their standard dishes, or customize your own combo. I ended up going with the "Single Plate", with an additional side. I got pulled pork with Carolina BBQ sauce, mac n' cheese, a baker's roll (varies from day to day), and added sweet potato waffle fries. Everything was delicious. The pulled pork was a little more "wet" than I'm used to, but it was smoky and flavorful, especially with the BBQ sauce. The roll was almost muffin-like, with rosemary seasoning mixed into the batter, which I quite enjoyed. The mac n' cheese definitely has a cheesy texture, with a caramelized top, but the flavors weren't as sharp as I like -- still very good, especially after I accidentally spilled some of that Carolina BBQ sauce on top of it. My food gets all mixed together on a BBQ plate, anyway; so why not? LOL The sweet potato waffle fries get their own section, because they were that good. The coating was crispy and well seasoned, with a slight kick -- they were amazing. I would probably ask for ketchup to dip them in next time, but since they had brought me extra BBQ sauce (without my asking), I just used that... or ate them without any dipping sauce. Our server was amazing throughout our lunch. She was always friendly and informative, and really helped make for a great experience. She remembered our cookies at the end (we got them to go), and didn't miss a beat when we decided to order from their dessert case last minute. Since it was "pi day", they had lots of pie related options -- all small servings, for 1 or 2. My wife and I shared a Key Lime bar, which was delicious. It was a little richer than I expected, but was nice and creamy, with that tart lime kick. The crust was good and crunchy, too. We knew coming in that this establishment was all gluten-free, even though nobody in our party needed to avoid gluten, and I was preparing myself to be disappointed -- and I can happily say that never happened! A lot of what E&T serves is homemade, and they obviously know what they are doing, so their GF offerings far surpass many dining establishment's full gluten options. If you have lower expectations for GF food, as I did, leave them at the door. Even my daughter, who is a pretty good baker herself, was impressed with the "heart attack" roll that she ordered with her meal -- we have never seen GF bread that fluffy! These guys obviously know what they are doing. Oh yeah, and those chocolate chip cookies? So good -- soft, and loaded with chocolate chips. We will definitely stop in again next time we are in the area.

Another Fabulous Breakfast at The Diner in McMinnville…read moreRating: We had another wonderful breakfast at The Diner in McMinnville. Our party of 4.5 was lucky to snag a spot on a typically busy Saturday morning; we must have hit the "sweet spot" because we arrived just before the line formed. A typical wait is 20-30 minutes for a table on weekends, but the food and service make it well worth it. We were greeted and seated quickly, and I really appreciated being offered a choice of seating. We opted for a booth, which worked perfectly for our little one in a booster seat. What made the visit truly special was the owner playing peek-a-boo with my grandson--such a sweet, personal touch that shows how much they care about their guests! The Diner is well-known for its boozy breakfast options. Our table enjoyed a Bloody Mary, Boozy Mimosas, and a Tequila Sunrise. All the drinks arrived quickly and were enjoyed tremendously. For the main course, we ordered: Breakfast Sandwich: Served on a soft, fluffy muffin with bacon and a perfectly cooked egg. Pork Chili Verde (Special): Served over cheddar grits with fresh salsa, crème fraîche, and crispy tortilla chips. Absolutely INCREDIBLE! Chicken Fried Steak: A family favorite that resulted in a "clean plate" as usual. Crispy Chicken Club Sandwich: Another lovely, solid meal. Another fantastic visit with great food and even better service. We will definitely be back!
