Loved the Dizzy Hen! Quaint diner that does a delicious breakfast. Service was fast, prices were fair, and interior was cute and good vibes. I opted for the classic breakfast which was perfect. Eggs were cooked right, bacon was perfectly crispy, and the breakfast potatoes were yummy! What more could you really ask for?? Definitely would return if I found myself back in the Philomath area.
Special local stop in Philomath that deserves to be on your radar. We came here twice for breakfast, but dinner is also served. For breakfast, the Dizzy Hen is a no-brainer. It's one of the best breakfasts in the area. My strongest recommendation is for the less "traditional" breakfast items, and towards the more unique. For example, I loved the pork ragu and grits with a fried egg. The broth, pieces of chard and fall apart pork were wholesome, delicious and well seasoned. I had a "traditional breakfast" my second visit, and while the homemade biscuits and house made sage sausage were clear standouts, in getting a traditional egg scramble, I felt I'd missed out on the creativity of their offerings. The baked goods are excellent. They have a nice list of breakfast cocktails, including a solid-looking Bloody Mary. The Coffee service (I tried their drip, but they have a full expresso bar) is the one spot that could be improved, in my opinion. I personally prefer a stronger cup of coffee. The family and staff running this place are friendly, engaging and keep things moving. A solid spot.
Cute little place. Gets busy fast so be prepared to wait if you don't come early. Small menu seemed promising but the food was just okay. Pretty typical breakfast/brunch food and flavors. The pastries were pretty good.
The food, service and friendly staff highlighted the amazing pastries and breakfast that the team at Dizzy Hen provided us at breakfast today. A quaint, friendly, tasty cafe. In the quaint downtown of Philomath, Or. Recommended by Jenny from the block at OSF in Corvallis. She asked that I keep it a secret, but this place deserves all the love because it was a great recommendation that hit the spot, thanks Jenny and thanks team at Dizzy Hen, great job!!! We will definitely return!
I came in with a party of three this morning. When I arrived, I was told to write my name on the waitlist and to wait until everyone in my party arrived before being seated, even though there were plenty of open tables. It was confusing to see other groups seated right away while we waited, and it left us feeling a bit like our presence was more of an inconvenience than a welcome. Clearer communication about seating policies would really help. Once one of my friends arrived, we were eventually seated, though it felt delayed. Our third joined shortly after. Service throughout the meal was a little inconsistent--we were sometimes overlooked, but to the staff's credit, they did kindly check on coffee a few times. The food itself was excellent--fresh and flavorful, which made the visit worthwhile. However, at checkout, we asked if the bill could be split and were told it wasn't possible, even though one of my friends who comes often has had it done before. Consistency with policies like that would go a long way. We also waited at the counter about 10 minutes, and the staff member seemed frustrated to help, which reinforced that feeling that we were a bit of a burden to serve. Overall, the food was great, but the service left us disappointed. With more attentiveness, consistency, and a warmer welcome, this could easily be a five-star spot.... But unfortunately I will not be back unless service changes.
One of the best meals I've had that I still think about it. I was surprised for there to be a bit of a wait on a friday morning. It took roughly 20 mins to be seated but it was most definitely worth it. Our server was so kind, funny and made good food recommendations. I ordered The Dizzy and subbed the ham for sausage. It was a huge portion, I had to take it to-go. It was so flavorful and the biscuits were so soft. Definitely some of the best I've tried. Their pastries looked so good but I was too full to try them. Everyone else also enjoyed their food and still mention it to this day. If I ever find myself in Philomath, I will be back here. 11/10 recommend!! Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10
Quaint yet popular diner just outside of Corvallis with great pastries and very solid breakfast dishes. My family is visiting Oregon for the weekend. My dad had a meeting for the first half of the day so my mom, brother, and I decided to explore the local food scene and we came across Dizzy Hen. When we arrived we wrote our name down on a list - the place was very crowded because of the University of Washington vs OSU game. We waited about 30 minutes until we had a table ready. While we waited we were given the option to order drinks and grab something from the wide selection of pastries at the front counter. Once seated we placed our order for food and drinks. My brother and I ordered a Bloody Mary and Irish Coffee respectively and my mom got a regular coffee. For food, I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs, my mom got a breakfast platter with a biscuit , and my brother got a bacon omelette. We also go an almond croissant to hold us over until our main meal came out. The drinks were solid - the Irish coffee packed a punch and the Bloody Mary tasted perfect. The along croissant was extra flakey - and the almond filling struck a solid balance of sweet and heavy almond flavor. The food was top notch - I haven't had biscuits and gravy in a long time and this definitely hit the spot. The biscuits were buttery and light and the gravy was seasoned perfectly. Also, the roasted potatoes that came on the side were some of the best I've had in a long time (my mom and brother agreed). The omelette my brother got was simple but done to perfection. And my mom's breakfast platter was solid too - I believe they make their sausage patty's from scratch and you can tell from the quality. On top of the great food, the staff of the Dizzy Hen were fantastic. The place was slammed with people and everyone kept working with a smile and took time to talk to every customer with great service. If you find yourself in Corvallis , I'd say this place is a must visit. The perfect place to go for fueling up before game day or if you want a very well done breakfast. 5/5
Cute spot in philomath. Interesting breakfast sando, it has sweet potato puree and caramelized onions which were good. Service was very good.
This is such a lovely quaint little restaurant with simple yet absolutely delicious food. the staff are so friendly and the quantities are enormous. I thought the French toast bread pudding was phenomenal.

Every once in a great while you stumble across something really unique and special. The Dizzy Hen is definitely in that category. Many restaurants do a great job and deserve a four or five star rating. This place goes well beyond those expectations and really deserves 10 stars. Anyone who has dined here knows exactly what I'm talking about. It's not just the incredible food at a great value, but it's the whole vibe of the place. Everybody is just so kind and welcoming even though it's a hustle and bustle environment from the time you walk in, to the time you leave. So much love and care for not just the food, but for their staff and the customers. The owners are truly remarkable people to offer such high quality delightful meals at incredibly low prices as well as having a staff that works so well together and love their jobs. I have never met John who mans the kitchen, but if he is anything like Hattie, I'm sure he is very kind and capable. Consistently putting out great food at a great value in a very very welcoming environment. This place rocks!!! Thank you John and Hattie for your love and dedication to hospitality. Beautiful little spot in Philomath for breakfast! The staff is so sweet and welcoming. They had great suggestions! I tried the French toast and the pork ragu and both were awesome. The pork ragu is so freaking good! The egg was perfectly fried and the pork went so well with the veggies. I just wish there was a little more meat. It was very tasty, but there wasn't a whole lot, only a few small pieces. The french toast was also a hit. I usually don't like sweet breakfast, but this was so delicious. The fried apples were amazing paired with the sage sausage. The bread pudding is thick too so it soaks up all the butter and sauce. Absolute perfection. I got it without the maple syrup. I think the syrup would have been too much, because it's already so rich. The value was great for breakfast. They give you a ton of food for the price, so come hungry! Great place to grab breakfast or pastries when in the area. read more

The Dizzy Hen is a local favorite on Main Street in Philomath. The atmosphere was "home town " and warm. Service was good and the food was good quality and plenty of it. We had breakfast and could not finish. read more

Great breakfast! We stopped in on the way to the coast, after an early morning flight into Eugene airport. We received fast friendly seating and much needed coffee, even though there was a pretty good crowd for a week day. I loved the thoughtful eclectic decor and whole vibe of the place. My omelette was a generous size, very tasty and fresh, and came with great potatoes too. We will definitely be back when we're back in town! read more

Ok, ok, ok, just go to the Dizzy Hen to eat. Full stop. We have been traveling around Oregon and eating our way through the adventure. When we woke up this morning we were trying to figure out our plan for the day and realized it included breakfast. So whip out the phone, what does Yelp say? Well, with five star reviews the DH seemed like the place to start our day. Rolling Stones, the White Stripes and others joined us as we sipped our coffee. Which worked for us, wake up music for sure. We were the first folks today, but pretty quick all the locals began to roll in. You can tell a lot about a place when the folks show up and there food is on the table in 3 minutes. They clearly love it here. Super friendly staff and they knew most people by name. Buddy and the rest of the staff took wonderful care of us. Coffee, food, conversation. The trifecta. So, the main event, I know that's what you're waiting for... Ok, ok, ok... eat here! Cutie had the Pork Posale and it was the best he had had since we moved from NM. I had an omelet. I started off with one on the menu. I'm low carb right now so I needed to remove one ingredient. Buddy asked if I wanted to substitute that ingredient with something else... why yes, I ended up crafting the 3 ingredients I wanted into my omelet. It was amazing. The sausage has a little heat and a ton of flavor. So, long story short, We give this 2 thumbs up and five stars! read more

Dizzy Hen? Yeah, it's dizzy alright! Here is my experience. I and a dozen other clamoring patrons are greeted with a FULL Restaurant. I think I count 40 or so seats. This is a great sign for a small restaurant in a small community. All the food on the tables look great, people look happy. The staff is personal and friendly as they communicate with their guest. Our 4 top orders 1 Mocha, 1 Latte, 1 Cappuccino and a Bloody Mary. Breakfast: 1 - Italian sausage omelette 1 - The Dizzy 1 - Cinnamon French toast 1 - Pork Ragu over Cheesy grits The food was hot, well seasoned and presented well. I ate the Pork Ragu and was VERY impressed. VERY. I won't speak to the other dishes cause I didn't eat them. It was worth the drive and I hope others give this place a shot. It was my friends and my first time here, and when the food came out we were shocked with how amazing it looked. especially for the price! if there's a long wait, just wait. it's worth it. The staff is also very kind and professional, and the owner made sure to greet and say goodbye to everyone that came in. read more

Woweezowee... Hit up my yelp app to find breakfast in Philomath.. and there it is. We usually stop before Philomath on our way back home to eat and just drive through the main strip of Philiomath.. You sure can miss a lot doing that and it's on Main St. so what is up with me huh? Packed as it was the weekend but we got in fast as the turnover was happening at that time. Very adorable looking place with also adorable staff that just made you feel so comfortable. I'm usually the fussy type (who knew?) that just doesn't place my order but picks the server's brain about something, or I don't want this but I want that on the menu, etc. BUT hey I know what I do want so there you go. And I got it. I ordered the "Dizzy Hen".. ya that IS one of the items on the menu for breakfast. Hens - eggs.. and ok I got it, the dish does make you a little bit dizzy because it's really good. I did ask if there were half orders (yea I did) and guess what.. not a stupid question. They do and they did. Bottom line, to die for.. the amazing béchamel sauce was delicious, and not too heavy, homemade and was perfect over their awesome biscuit. My egg was perfectly cooked as well which is very important since it did come from that dizzy hen. And it was plenty!! I am getting to be one of those old ladies? in that I save a little bit of my food for my dog.. it's usually in a little pile on the side.. that saying I did ask for some foil for and she said, oh you are saving that for your dog. I do the same thing. Let me get you something proper for that. :). Of course my dog approved his leftovers. This will be our go to place on our road back home just to make it even more pleasant to get there. read more

Service: The service was very friendly but slow. It was busy and it seems like a small/locally owned business, so I didnt mind Price: very reasonable. Most of the menu items were under 12 dollars, my lunch was 9.50 Food: it was a little underwhelming to be honest, I expected a little better. The appetizer we ordered was amazing however- the almond hummus. I reccomend it. I had the duck ravioli and they were pretty dry. I applaud the concept of the dish and all its ingredients. I think they could have been executed better. They had good coffee though. Atmosphere: awesome. I'll be back for the coffee and atmosphere for sure. Maybe I'll order something else next time. read more

The Dizzy Hen is my absolute favorite brunch place in the Corvallis area. I had it a few years ago before I moved to Oregon. Whenever I moved to Philomath I was SO excited to see how close I was to it. I would order it every week if I could. All of the food I've had from there has been amazing but the pork ragu with grits is my all time favorite. The potatoes are also very hard to beat. read more
