On a Labor Day evening walked in for the first time. Extremely eclectic decor, a few tables and a few booths. Ample stocked bar, your basic good pub food. Some local delights, the menu is a couple of pages with your higher end standards. The service was quick and the food came out hot and appropriate order. Nothing was forgotten and was quite a pleasant experience. Stopped in for a late night dinner. Minors are allowed until close. Small indoor dining area (large groups might find this difficult location), but some tables sat six people. This place looks amazing. It's has a lot of charm and a lot of nooks for cozy seating. The menu looks great and there are plenty of cocktails to choose from. Note: you order your food at the bar so don't expect the busy waitstaff to track you down to order. The frickles were the fan favorite of the night with a tasty batter and a deliciously spicy sauce. The burger was also good and the egg perfectly cooked but the chicken sandwiches were "meh." The size was pretty generous but the chicken was over fried, giving it an unpleasant charred taste. The roasted sandwich was much better, but a little dry. We will return because the overall impact was positive, but we will try something else in the menu. I should also note that the lone floor waitstaff was pulled in a lot of different directions but she remained friendly and approachable. Kudos to her for wrangling the wants of a full room! Very cute spot on the waterfront! Went for a Saturday lunch, and you order at the bar which took awhile with one bartender/cashier. I got the Poké Bowl which was very fresh and tasty. The bowl made it a little hard to mix the ingredients in, but that's my only criticism. My friend order the Veggie burger with cheese. She said the sandwich was flavorful, however would've subbed the Potato Chips next time since they were overly seasoned. Definitely will have to come and try some other dishes! read more

The Brass Monkey was a great little stop for us. We were up from San Diego to watch some softball at OSU and wanted a late snack and drink. The pickle chips and house potato chips are both highly recommended and were cooked to perfection. This evening was on a mission looking for bbq. I found this place on Yelp & it's conveniently located in downtown. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich & it was tasty but seemed like the meat was a little bit "old" & probably had been cooking all day. The 1 bartender & 1 server were very welcoming & friendly. I ordered the portobello nacho platter I did not realize it would have jalapeno peppers on it, but no big deal, I set them to the side. After consuming 1/4 of the dish I began to feel the burn. Not in my mouth, but in my stomach. I can tolrate some hot spices, but this was worse. Usually there is a warning on a menu for extra spicey dishes. Not so here. And since they do not use waiters, no caution was given when ordering. Kind of ruined my night. read more

The Brass Monkey is more of a pub like eatery. There is a decent menu with very good food and a full bar that also offers specialty drinks. It definitely has that 'College Town' feel. Grab a menu at the door, seat yourself, order and pay at bar, this place is a modernist throwback to the 70's & 80s. The overhead music is also of the era including hits from British Punk, Americana and the like. The walls are decorated with skateboard memorabilia, Elvis is there, Bruce Lee, vintage photos.. The burgers come with house made chips. You can upgrade to those fantastic battered fries though. The chips are fantastic homemade seasoned slices of potatoes that come in a generous portion. They really are unique in that you will not find any chips anywhere with this semi salty semi barbecue flavor. They have to be experienced to understand the flavor profile. The loaded fries came in a crispy batter, pieces of bacon, a dollop of sour cream and chives with melted cheese. This is an appetizer that is huge. Share it or you take the rest home, it is a large portion. I had the Pub burger. It came out with a nice beef flavor and not over seasoned. I like the mix of a hot beef patty with cold crisp fresh shredded lettuce, tomato and onion on a seedless bun. It wasn't so oversized that you couldn't pick it up. It was nice to have a burger that wasn't totally messy. It was well constructed and very flavorful. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. I would definitely go back. read more

Ambiance was good, service was adequate but the food was terrible, with exception of the fries, those were perfect. My burger was a hard, burned up hockey puck. Hands down the WORST burger I've ever had, especially for $25. My companion had a bacon grilled cheese she didn't eat and some others at the table had hockey puck burgers and the Mac and cheese. Was incredibly disappointing. Looked forward to trying this place for a few weeks. they were out of their famous fish and chips so I thought a burger was a safe second choice. We've eaten at this restaurant about a dozen times over the years, ever since the restaurant opened, hoping that it would improve. It has not. The menu is not extensive, and the food they serve is just so-so, and it's inexpensive. They never ever have had enough staff on shifts; consequently, service is very slow. It's always very noisy inside when the place is even half full. We are not going back to this restaurant ever again. There are better places in town to eat. read more

The service was great. The outside seating is pet friendly which I needed. Table was dirty. A lot of foot traffic walking by, which I could have done without. We had a big group so I can talk about a few dishes.The food and service are absolutely fabulous. I was having such a great time, I forgot to take pics of the food. The Nachos were so good, and so much we took some home. The pulled pork sandwich was perfectly seasoned and the homemade chips were a little spicy, making them a perfect combo. The Chicken sandwich was crispy and flavorful and juicy. We had truffle fries as an appetizer and the portion was generous and the fries were delicious. We had the chocolate brulee for dessert and everyone loved it. For context about the wonderful and kind service, one of us has a disability and they made sure we could use a cup and straw for the person that works better than a glass and they cut the food up, making sure it was easier to eat.
