We were in Corvallis for Parents Weekend and expected restaurants to be packed, but we found Sky High Brewery and walked right in around 11:30 AM. The place is huge, with multiple seating areas and bars, and we were immediately greeted and seated on the enclosed balcony with heaters -- super comfortable. Ordering from the table via the app was easy and convenient, and our food came out quickly. We had the clam chowder, fries, and a beer -- all delicious! By the time we finished, the place was buzzing and there was a long wait, but it's so spacious that it never felt crowded. The outdoor seating is so nice! Loved sitting out here on a nice day. The staff was friendly got us straws and to go boxes so we didn't have to. The food was disappointing though. We went during Happy Hour onca Monday. The cheese curds were easy the best part, and the marinara dipping sauce was good. My happy hour burger tasted almost exactly like a McDonalds burger and hubby's philly was nothing to gloat about. Nachos with chicken lacked major flavor. Had very high hopes for this place looking at reviews and their website but I'm thinking our mistake was maybe going to the rooftop instead of sitting downstairs? Either way, this was probably my least favorite meal of the year. Nachos looked great but didn't taste like much and the beans/cheese were cold. My margarita was awful, like worse than a dive bar margarita. I didn't drink more than two sips. The employees hanging around the bar area were on their phones the entire time and didn't look in any way approachable. Ambiance is great. That's partly why it's hard to write this review, and why the extra star for a total of the three stars. I want to like Sky High, but service and the food lets us down. This evening we had to wait almost 45 minutes for our food to be prepared, there wasn't a dinner rush. When the food was done, and we went to collect the food, the food was cold. Fries were cold. Burger was cold, and the nachos were cold. Sometimes the ambiance and drinks aren't enough to overlook the service. Unfortunately, Sky High is off the go-to restaurants list. HOT and just right when they came out. The options were scan a QR code to order or walk up to the bar. Covid is long over, ditch the QRs. Ordering at the bar was fine because there were so few people in there at 5pm but if I'm sitting at a booth, I shouldn't have to get up to chase down a busy bartender to order. We wanted to try something different and Sky High popped up as a suitable place to get dinner. The restaurant is up stairs and there is an elevator so getting there is no problem. The decor is interesting as breweries go. We were seated quickly and had a nice view of the roofs of the neighboring buildings. The restaurant was clean and not overly noisy. We ordered a Bbq pork sandwich, a shrimp po'boy and the Philly cheesesteak. I had the house hard cider and my daughter had the lavender lemon drop. The food arrived quickly and looked good. Unfortunately it wasn't as good as it looked. The pork was dry, the shrimps were small and over cooked. The tots were waaaaay over salted and we, in general, didn't love it. Minus one star. I suppose that's what you get for eating at the bar, especially on a busy day when people are dropping kids off for the semester. The deck provides a nice atmosphere. Service was pretty typical for a bar, but they tried to make up for issues. I had some wildly overcooked chicken on a salad -- think chicken jerky you would buy as a dog treat -- they graciously offered to replace the entire salad and I said just the chicken would be fine as there wasn't anything wrong with the salad itself. The replacement chicken tasted much better but I soon found a hair in it. They comped the entire salad. Not great, but the service made me willing to give them another shot next time I'm in town. Perfect spot in Corvallis. I don't drink beer anymore, but they had great wine and cocktails. Honestly, this place checks all the boxes for me - pandemic friendly since it's a rooftop, and they had gluten-free bun options and vegan burgers. They have a few places to sit but we wanted the open-air rooftop so be sure to specify where you want to go; I think the menus and ordering system are slightly different depending on where you sit. Come for the views stay for the tots. Crispy and perfectly salty on the outside. Light and fluffy on the inside. Quits possibly the best tots in the PNW. Pro tip: order a burger with tots. They are so plentiful you can box up the burger for the next day. We also ordered a pizza, which was amazing if you like thin crust. Pesto, artichokes, peppers olives and cheese. Mama Mia this one is big enough for two. The wings were fat, juicy and well sauced. Finally they had a great homemade cider, which I always appreciate especially in a brew town. Another brewery I paid a visit to the Corvallis area on a trip late last year. There are so many brewery options in Corvallis and the neighboring towns that making a tour to them all definitely can't be achieved in one day unless all you do on your tour is have schooners and tasters. This brewery while had a fun atmosphere and location didn't quite win me over on their beer. It was by no means unpleasant but not as memorable as I might have hoped. I had the Bohemian Pilsner which was refreshing indeed and service was just fine... just the memorable part was the drawback. Perhaps I should have tried a different beer instead and they have various other beers to choose from and perhaps the memorable aspect will come into play then. Been here a few times and have had a great experience but tonight was not the night. Called ahead to check on the wait time for a group of four and was told 15-20 minutes. Arrived, checked in, and was again told 15-20 minutes. As we sat there waiting to be seated, several groups were seated before us, even those that checked in after we arrived. Over an hour passed with every group in the waiting area being seated before us until we were the only group left. The hostess claimed someone "removed" us from the queue leading to us waiting so long... sure. We were finally seated and again were waiting over 20 minutes to be helped at our table. We eventually decided to leave. Never once did an employee check in with us, granted they were pretty busy but this is no way to treat a group of four... Very disappointed in the service, especially the rude behavior from the hostess. Do better hiring. Decided to go to American Dream instead, perfect way to make up for the complete waste of time. read more

My partner and I visited Sky High with a couple friends for hoppy hour on the roof. The view was amazing, as was the sweet potato fries and drinks. I got the $10 flight of 6 beers, as I'm not the biggest fan of beer but I've heard that Oregon has great breweries and beer so I had to give it a shot while I'm here. My partner got the Corvball and we loved that one - light with a subtle hint of lemon and wheat. We also got some of the hoppy hour specials to go with our drinks. The sweet potato fries were undoubtedly the most worth it. Overall, the hoppy hour sides were generous servings for the $4-6 they cost. Heavily disappointed. Overpriced. Mediocre. The food was good. Fish and chips were well battered and the turkey bacon avocado wrap was quite tasty. My problem is mainly with the service. We waited about ten minutes to get seated even though there was plenty of empty seats. I could understand if we had actually been served, but once we were seated, we had to go up to a window and order our food. I found this interesting for a rather expensive restaurant. As for drinks, the Bloody Mary was nothing special, just average. The Moscow mule was good. I did find it surprising that one of the Moscow mules on the menu was made with Burnett's gin which sounds like a rip off for an $8 drink from a nice restaurant. The outdoor atmosphere was enjoyable, but I think that there are a lot of improvements that this establishment can make. read more
