Food is actually SO good and affordable. Their menu has a lot more variety than just your regular "college bar". They offer drink deals everyday, but the best day is Tiki Tuesday, when they offer a special drink and food menu. Beware this day can get pretty busy though, especially in the spring. I was in town for the NCAA regional baseball tourney and I wanted to sit outside and have a good sandwich. The french fries were very good, but the BBQ sauce for the BBQ Pork sandwich was simply too spicy. Why not use something sweet, like Sweet Baby Ray's. The service was pretty weak. I asked for a knife to cut the sandwich when it was delivered and it took a long time to be delivered, as was the time to have ketchup brought tp the table. Had the Old Faithful burger (minus red onion) and fries. Honestly the fries were the redeeming part of our visit for me. We ordered a few minutes after 1pm and they were not that busy. We received 2 of our 3 orders 45 minutes later. The third plate of food came out inexplicably almost ten minutes later. We were starvin marvins by the time the food arrived. Wait staff wasn't too friendly- especially the only server. Then to top it off the burger that I'd waited so long to eat was a bit burned and the entire sandwich tasted burned bc of it. It was odd to me when we ordered at the bar they didn't ask how we wanted our burgers...apparently they only do them well done. Such a major let down for a restaurant right on the edge of OSU's campus. We had such high hopes for our lunch meal here but were quite disappointed when we left. Our weekend visit to The Downward Dog was excellent! The fantastic food, creative drinks, and fast and friendly service were all highlights of our visit. We opted to sit outdoors on the picnic benches, which are underneath a gazebo. During the warmer months, this area is open air, but during the colder months of the year, they are insulated on the sides with a clear tarp and there is a heat lamp warming the area from up above. There is also indoor and patio seating. I LOVED my food, but especially the fries! This is bar food done right. My partner and I each had an entree with sides and a drink, and our tab was under $40 - not bad at all for the great quality and quantity we enjoyed. I definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting a tasty bite and drink near the OSU campus! read more

Line was long for a drink and they make you take shots at the bar inconsistently (not sure why) but the people in line were great and made time fly. This is the classic campus pub spot, Downward just happens to be able to pay the rising rent costs. The food is good, the beers are always rotating and its just a great socializing spot with the yard full of tables. I've been coming here for 3 years now and it's easily the best bar and grill in Corvallis. Centrally located next to campus, the drinks are served quick and taste great. There's always a good selection of beers on tap and the bartenders are chill and always play great music. The bouncer girl is really nice and accommodating too. You just have to order at the bar and if you get food they bring it out to your table. Really decent seating and great atmosphere. Our review is based on going at the conclusion of an Oregon State football game, so the place became packed. The vibe was positive and enthusiastic especially since the football team won. Ordering is all done at one counter and you get your drinks immediately. They deliver your food items to your table. The interior can become quite congested as people are waiting in line to order but it is well organized. We found all of the employees to be very friendly and helpful and prices were excellent. We stopped in for lunch earlier this week while touring OS with our daughter. We were looking for a place that not only had great food but a place where we could get a feel for the neighborhood. We could not have made a better choice! The Reuben, The Hangover Hamburger and garlic tater tots were delicious. The bartender was welcoming and friendly. The unexpected bonus to our lunch was the Bloody Mary. I have had two Bloody Mary's in my life that were so good I will never forget them and the Bloody Mary at the Downward Dog is one of them. It is clear that at the Downward Dog they know what it is like to wake up at noon and want a bunch of potatoes, beans, eggs, and veggie like substances held together by a warm tortilla. Veggito Burrito, no mushrooms, eaten while lying in the back seat of my car while sipping small amounts of water? YES PLEASE. Also the other food is pretty good. Mac and cheese is okay and I think it is wonderful that they have vegetarian options. The service is usually pretty good but with how crowded it gets here it is obviously tough for the staff to keep up and customers can be forgotten. It's great they have outdoor seating during covid times and I do enjoy hanging out here, but they have a girl that works there that is always rude to us. I am not sure if it's just bad days or not liking us because we are women?? She was nice and chatty with an all male table, then with us (even when being nice to her) she would be short while slamming thing when busing our table... we are not sure what we did to her, but we hope you are okay.
