Have been trying to come here for the last 3 years but there was always something. Make reservations in advance as this is a popular place. So glad we finally got to dine here. Francesca was our server and she is the sweetest. Trust her, she won't steer you wrong. If you like French 75 and love grapefruit, you'll love the Latin 75, It's so good and refreshing. Start with tapas - the beef chilaquiles is superb! the yellowfin crudo is also an excellent choice - the papaya is fabulous, and the seared scallops are spot on. For the entrees - the bbq beef is delicious, the chicken adobo is outstanding and the sopas are wonderful. The sopas are black bean and it's a hearty meal. The chicken adobo is so tender and mouth watering. Even if you don't have a special occasion, this is a wonderful place to dine. Ask for Francesca for your server, she helps make it special as well! Can't wait to come back Ok, if there's one downside, is that the tables on the second and third floor are a little dark (but it could be because I'm old and my eye sight is not what it use to be).

Half portion of prawns in crema

I was in Corvo for a business meeting and met a colleague for dinner at my favorite restaurant. I have not been there since my son graduated from OSU and it is still wonderful. Service great, lovely surroundings! The food was as delicious as ever. We asked for a wine selection and the Spanish wine he suggested was perfect. We were both pretty hungry so the complementary bread with three dips hit the spot. We shared a couple of Tapas: beef chilaquiles and the beef tenderloin ponchos. Both were so good! We were not hungry enough anymore to each have an entree so we shared the prawns in creama. For a couple of extra bucks they plated it on two plates. Photo attached. I am not regularly in Corvallis any more so this was a special treat!

Very odd ambience and lighting and table arrangement walking in. Almost made me wanna leave but I was committed. No host, had to seat ourselves. The servers that helped us were wonderful. Only lovely things to say about them. Aside from that, the menu has some recognizable dishes but very humble stuff that is a little weird and difficult to make fancy and charge so much for, like flautas and a quesadilla. They had beef pozole the night we visited and I'm quite sure it was just their birria broth with hominy and it was not good at all. It was also in a terrible bowl with a terribly heavy, weirdly shaped spoon. Very difficult to eat. And no cilantro or lime with the few shreds of cabbage and an old wedge of watermelon radish for garnish. There are some good ideas and everything tasted *okay* but there's a lack of perspective that makes it all pretty pretentious. We left hungry and annoyed that we paid so much to be hungry. I go down a star when I don't want to return to a place, so...yeah. Sorry?

Filet Mignon... delicious!!!

We went to Del Alma for our anniversary and it was delightful. Our reservation was easy to make and they were ready when we arrived, no waiting. The hostess was friendly and pleasant! We ordered the filet Mignon and the beef flautas along with the seafood chowder and the roasted beets. Everything tasted excellent (and I don't normally like beets). Our waitress, Ilana, was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. She made the dinner interesting and fun. The space is comfortable and interesting. We were able to have a conversation without feeling like we were talking loudly or being listened to. This may be one of my favorite places to eat in Corvallis! Excellent experience!

When you're downtown and want a meal with a view, definitely come through. This restaurant is downtown on the river. Even during the winter of my discontent, I still want to be near a body of water. And there's no secret handshake. (If you know, you know). Lots of after work cocktails and yummy appetizers. del Alma does not disappoint. The staff is classy for Corvallis. This isn't fine dining or anything like that, but it's thoughtful and has some special touches. I mean that with all sincerity and heart. They want you to have a fantastic and memorable experience. I asked for some appetizers without the meat, and it was no problem. So we enjoyed the guacamole sans bacon. The guacamole was good but pretty simple for guac. It's still a delicious start, and the plantain chips are the standout. I think it could be served without tortilla chips and only the plantains. Next time I want to try their brussel sprouts sans the chorizo. We had the quesadillas and asked for some hot sauce to go with. I think it really should come with a hot sauce, but it doesn't, so remember to ask. We were brought a stunning arbol sauce that had all the kick we needed. I liked the quesadillas, but when looking for vegetarian options, it's not typically what I'm craving. The beet salad was the knockout dish tonight. The beets were warm, the goat cheese sauce creamy, the marmalade filled with flavor, a surprise fennel shaving that added some flair, and a sprinkling of hazelnut that gave the perfect crunch. I will eat this again. For dessert, you must have the key lime pie. It's an adorable specimen that is the perfect amount to share with someone who says they don't have room for dessert. It's served so lovely, too. It's worth a visit even if you stick to the appetizers and dessert. I would like to see some classier cocktail glasses and garnishes. They have a lovely bar and cocktail menu, so it would really boost that selection. I would also love one more vegetarian option, but if you enjoy meat, you'll have plenty to choose from. See you soon, del Alma.

Roasted Beets - good but not great compared to the other dishes that I ordered.

This place was delicious. It certainly beats bar/casual dining at the Courtyard. The bar area is for people without reservations and it was perfect. I haven't eaten all day so order 4 apps. It came very quick and was yummy! Yes, I ate them all. My favorite was the shrimp dishes. The yellowtail crudo was great also.

This place! Hidden gem for sure. My husband's client suggested we try del Alma and I am so glad he did. Every thing was so great from the moment we walked in to the very last bite. All the flavors are delicious, you can taste all the layers, everything is so fresh and unique. We had the asparagus for an appetizer, I had the chicken for dinner and my husband had the filet -- *chef's kiss* Our server was a delight, she had excellent suggestions, she was so friendly and everything came out perfectly. I was texting friends while we were eating telling them they need to try it. We will be back and we will bring friends because everyone needs to experience this place. Very classy little restaurant! I don't often give five stars, but honestly I couldn't find one thing to consider a negative.

Had dinner in the bar area that other night. Great food with a menu that is somewhat unique in Corvallis.

Rainy Day, Great Bar Seat, and One Memorable Meal…read more It was a cold, rainy Oregon afternoon when I stumbled into Castor, and I'm glad I did. There happened to be one open seat at the bar, which is my favorite place to dine when traveling. Sitting at the bar lets you talk story with the bartender, learn the menu, and watch the cocktails come together. If you're eating alone, I highly recommend grabbing a seat here. The bartender was friendly, easy to talk with, and clearly knew both the menu and the craft behind the bar. One thing that stood out right away was their use of fresh local ingredients, which really shows up in the flavor of the dishes and drinks. I started with the Golden Manhattan, made with a pecan-infused bourbon that was fantastic. It had a rich, slightly nutty flavor with warm vanilla notes and just the right touch of sweetness. Smooth, balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. Alongside that I ordered the chorizo clam chowder, which brought a creamy base with just the right amount of spice from the chorizo. Comfort food with a little personality. For dinner I switched gears and ordered the Creole Sour. This one really stood out. Bright citrus up front, a smooth bourbon backbone, and a subtle spice note that tied perfectly into the Creole theme. It had that classic sour balance, tart, slightly sweet, and refreshing without overpowering the drink. Dinner was the gumbo with hot bread and butter, and it delivered. Deep flavor, a nice slow warmth from the spice, and hearty enough to make the rainy Oregon weather feel like part of the experience. To finish things off I kept it simple with a neat pour of Ben Holladay, which made for the perfect nightcap. The staff were welcoming and relaxed, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable. This is the kind of place that works whether you're dining solo, meeting friends, out with someone special, or grabbing dinner with a group. The price point landed right where it should be for the quality of food, cocktails, and service. If you're in Corvallis and can grab a seat at the bar at Castor, take it. Order a cocktail, settle in, and enjoy the ride. It turned a rainy afternoon into one heck of a meal.

This place is awesome. Great food and service. Every time I'm traveling in this area, I eat at this…read morerestaurant
