The moment we walked in, the warm hospitality stood out. Ownership and management are local (Hawai'i) folks, and it shows in the way they treat you like part of the Ohana! The vibe is casual, light, and welcoming--great for catching up over drinks or watching the game on one of the many TVs. We sampled the garlic chicken wings with a dry rub, and they were absolutely fantastic--crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Murphys is the kind of spot you're glad to stumble upon. The food here is excellent and the prices are reasonable for the quality. The kids menu had a great selection and perfect portions. My party ordered the chicken club wrap, the burger with a fried egg and sautéed mushrooms, the kids cheeseburger, and the kids grilled cheese. Everything tasted fresh and all were happy with their choices. One suggestion for the business is to update the menu to include all ingredients in a dish. I ordered the chicken club wrap and though tomatoes aren't listed as an ingredient, there were quite a few in the wrap. I don't care for tomatoes and I was able to pick them out, but if I'd had an allergy I would have been frustrated with having to send the item back or select something else. read more

Myself and my wife came In for our 23rd anniversary with our 3yo daughter.. It was already tough on us due to our sitter backing out at the last moment. We came in and were greeted by there server that seen our daughter and immediately seemed off... she then told us it would be over a hr wait. We then put our names on the list as a party of 5 came in almost directly after us. We then walked outside got in our vehicle to wait. We came in from San Diego for the game and stopped at the bar for drinks. It is a small bar with several TV's and great service. Everyone was extremely friendly. We came back the next day and the bartender was already making our drinks before we sat down because he remembered our order. I had the buffalo wrap and my buddies both had the loco moco. This is our new favorite place in the neighborhood. Great location downtown near the river with a nice bar area and TVs everywhere. The servers and bartenders are super nice and helpful. Friendly. I went to Murphy's yesterday evening for dinner (Apr 23, 2021). Friday/Saturday evenings offer their prime rib special. I ordered the 9oz cut to be cooked medium-rare. On this night, it came with garlic whipped potatoes and steamed/sautéed green beans. The price was $26. There is a 12 oz cut available for $30. I arrived a little past 5pm and was seated promptly as it wasn't busy yet. My order was taken quickly and the meal arrived in less than 10 minutes. It was very flavorful and had very little fat, so the cut wasn't wasted. PLEASE BE AWARE...if you are paying with a credit/debit card, you will receive and be charged a 3.85% surcharge on the overall total of your meal. This surcharge is waived if paying cash. The notice of surcharge is a via a flyer taped to their front doors. It may be noted on the payment page of their online order system, but I didn't get that far. While the food and service were good, as was the overall value of the meal, I cannot give more than an OK review due specifically to the surcharge. I would go back to this restaurant, but would only do so if I brought sufficient cash. read more

My last night in Corvallis, I thought I'd give Murphy's a try. Looking at the menu ahead of time, the food was more expensive than other eateries in town ($24 for two fish tacos?), but what the heck - I'm worth it. My waitress did a great job with the situation, but the bar and kitchen were clearly struggling. I started with a beer and a water. The water came right out. My waitress actually refilled my water once before the beer finally arrived. I ordered the Murphy Burger. It seemed a bit unusual that the waitress didn't ask how I wanted it cooked, but I figured that this was a namesake meal and the restaurant clearly knew how to do it right. I ordered it lettuce-wrapped, so they brought me a steak knife. The burger came out extra well done - like forgot-about-it-on-the-grill-for-awhile-well-done. Good thing that I had my steak knife, since a regular knife would have been no match for the overcooked patty. The view from the patio is nice, but I can't recommend this place either for food or drinks. read more

Dude!! With the very best STEAK in Corvallis (and I'm talking RIB-EYE- which is the same cute as a Tomahawk but w/o bone), you cannot lose. A very nice selection of drafts, appetizers, and meal selections. The very best part is that the owner(and sole of the staff) are home grown Hawaiians. Just doing the right things for all of the right reasons. Snag your fav poke, it all works! Its the most positive experience in Corvallis. I went to Murthy's and ordered the 32 oz. prime rib "medium rare" It arrived "medium" and it was extremely tough. I sent it back and received a steak that was not medium rare and again very tough. Neither of the prime ribs were eaten. We were still charged for one of the meals anyway.The server never told us we would be charged For it. Never again! read more

Upon arriving we were surprised by the very limited parking available. It's not the restaurants fault rather the area not having enough space to support its patrons and the many businesses in the area - Unfortunately it is a city problem and difficult for all the restaurants and patrons. The downside of this problem is that the city is limiting how much a restaurant can succeed because the number of spaces discourage people from coming in from the surrounding area. Sure there is Uber and Lyft available but the inconvenience and timeliness of these few drivers further discourages potential revenue for these restaurants. The initial wait was two groups in front of us which quickly became six behind us. The bar was smart. They came into the lobby to serve beers while we waited. Nice touch to keep patrons happy! With a full bar and beers on tap, there is something for everyone. Additionally they serve "the best" fresh strawberry lemonade! Dinner was spoiled mostly because we sat directly outside the kitchen and watched the bad habits of the cook staff. After watching raw and cooked food being handled with bare hands and those hands not being washed really disturbed me. I saw cooked steak placed in au jus with bare hands. I saw cooks eating right off plates. I saw hands wiping sweat off the brow and then wiping a plate smudge. I saw raw meat being carried around in a chefs arms. After witnessing all these disgusting habits, and being very hungry, I still chose to eat my meal. I did not share what I witnessed with my family and instead asked their opinion of their meal. "It was ok" my son ordered medium and he got rare. My wife's sauce for her potstickers was cold and very thick. I asked for raw horseradish and was served creamy. I ordered garlic mashed potatoes and they weren't the same as the garlic ones my son was served. In summary I was very disappointed. My stars for this review go to 1) the bartender who addressed the crowd by asking if we would like a drink and to the wait staff who were working the packed restaurant that was unrelenting. 2) the decor and cleanliness of the restaurant. Otherwise the timing to get food out of the kitchen was poor - as I watched the chefs playing. The cleanliness of those preparing the food was careless and wrong. On another time, I may return as I thought this was a nice place with great potential. Tonight's performance from the kitchen was very upsetting. read more

To start, the service was horrible. The waitresses seemed as though they hated their jobs and were rude. The food came and it was disgusting. Clam chowder was runny and tasted like water and dry herbs. The medium burger came out dry and cooked over well, the chicken Caesar wrap so so bad we left it on the plate and the western burger came with tomato and mayo. We asked for no tomatoes and then the manager came to show us that the menu said tomato and mayo on ALL burgers and we should've said no tomato and mayo. We sat out side and they have a bee and fly problem so beware of that too? I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE to my worst enemy. read more

The food and service was excellent. However, coffee was asked to be served with the dessert. When dessert was over and the coffee still hadn't arrived, we asked to have it cancelled. Later, the server said the coffee was already made and said " sorry it wasn't with your dessert, here you can just have it". When the bill came , the manager said we noticed you drank it, so we charged you for it. That's our policy. When we explained that you said it was a free cup of coffee, the manager became rude, inappropriate, and belligerent. Will not come back here. read more

Truly the best meal we have had in Corvallis. Started off with steamers that all 6 of us really loved. Everyone had a different burger & they were all delish. I came here with my boyfriend for our anniversary, as this is our favorite restaurant in town. we've came here at least a dozen times for steaks and have always been pleased; however, this time is enough to make us not want to EVER go back here. we got two steaks and asked for medium rare. when they came back, mine was well-done, and his was practically hamburger meat... we kindly asked if we could exchange them and have them recooked. our waitress was really nice about it, bringing extra plates so that would eat our baked potatoes and veggies while we waited. we had no problem with that, especially since we were having a good time and i understand there can be complications. the second time we got our steak it was worse than the first time, and our appetite was gone. we didn't want to say anything again, but paying for a $36 meal isn't just an everyday endeavor for us, so we wanted it to be special. i asked kindly again, showing the waitress the steak, and another waitress came out-- grabbed them, and ran back. at this point, when i saw her again i asked if she could make them to go and she agreed. we were there for an hour and 45 minutes, and frankly i didn't want to wait any longer. within 5 minutes, the "boss" came out, red-faced, yelling that he wouldn't make them to go, our meal was comped, and that we were not welcome back. i do not recommend this place as it's gone down hill within the last few months and their attitude certainly didn't compensate for it. not to forget, the table next to us was also sending back food... so if that doesn't tell you something. majorly disappointed. read more

My 12 year old ordered the Mahi tacos. He ate one whole taco before confessing that they were inedible. I had my 18 year old eat a bite to try it. He confirmed they were the worst tacos he had ever tasted. The server took them back but still charged us for the food. I thought she had just forgot and so brought it up to her. She called the manager who belligerently defended his position that charging us for shitty food was acceptable due to the amount my son had eaten. He then yelled at me and my three sons as we left. Definitely a first in catastrophic service for me at any Murphy's. I have eaten at Murphy's in Washington, Idaho and Oregon. I definitely won't be back to this one. read more

First time there. The diet Pepsi fountain not setup correctly. The garlic mashed potatoes were instant mash potatoes. If there was garlic in those I could not taste it. Lastly the prime rib. Not the worst I've had althought sawing through each terrible byte of cold medium rare beef that must have been frozen leftovers ftom last weekend. Was pretty crappy. What kind of trash bag human leaves a negative Yelp review for an establishment trying to carry out social distancing and during a reopen? An asshole- that's who. I've been an enthusiastic Murphy's patron since they were in Southown and was naturally excited to get back in to the newer downtown location after they took the time to thoroughly address Covid concerns and restrictions. As for complaints of parking- you realize that's the City of Corvallis and not the individual businesses at fault, right?? It's as good as ever, if not better, and I'm thrilled to see it return. The generous outside seating, positive and helpful attitude of the staff and owner, and consistent menu (if you don't get one of the burgers you're genuinely missing out) makes Murphy's a reputable, deserving, and relaxing place to start stretching your social legs post-isolation or anytime. We were so disappointed. We dined at Murphys last week and it was amazing! The waiter was so friendly and so efficient. He offered suggestions, refilled our drinks and just provided excellent service. The garlic Parmesan fries were so good! Hot, crispy and delicious. The blackened prawn salad was so fresh and the prawns cooked perfectly. The fish and chips were fresh and hot and very good. Last night we went back and took an out of town friend. It was so embarrassing, and not good. We were seated across from the kitchen. Our waitress did not seem to be very happy. She never brought a drink refill or asked if everything was okay or if anything was needed. We saw the burger and fries, and the garlic Parmesan fries we ordered come up and sit under the heat lamps for well over 10 minutes. We then saw the sword fish we ordered come up and placed under the lights. It too sat there and was then taken down and apparently re-plated, and put back up under the lights. Another minute or so passed, our waitress finally picked it up, ran it to our table and took off, before we could say anything or order another drink. The swordfish was overcooked and looked terrible. My fries were greasy and soggy with raw little chunks of garlic. My husbands burger was a soggy mess and he couldn't eat it. We had to hunt the waitress down and Instead of offering something else or to reorder she became very defensive and argued with us stating it really hadn't sat there all that long, and that the cooks were new so it was not their fault. By that time my husband decided not to order anything else, and we just wanted to leave. The waitress then came back, slapped the bill on the table and said she did us a favor by not charging for the burger since no bites were taken. We canceled our dessert order and left. Sorry Murphys, I highly doubt we will be back anytime soon, and certainly not with a guest! Terrible experience, the worst! read more

First time at Murphy's ended up after a work Christmas party. There were over 20 of us and were so accommodating. The server was wonderful made sure to wait on all of us quickly. Got out our drink orders. The appetizers, chickens were really good. The onion rings yum. I had the seared ahi and it was delicious. Didn't expect such good food but it really was. I have to watch my gluten in take and they had menu options for gluten free. If you are in Corvallis I'd say to stop at Murphy's for a drink, burger and more. read more
