My favorite hole in the wall Mcmenamins location! I say this a lot, but this location is so cozy! Nice dim light and a fire pit. No pool tables like the other locations which is probably my biggest hang up but it's still a great place to get some of Mcmenamins great food options and enjoy the ambience. My partner and I both ordered burgers without grilled onion. They brought out the burgers with grilled onion on both of them. We asked the person who had brought out the food if we could get them replaced with the correct order, and they took the burgers for about two minutes before returning with both of the same burgers. They had picked off the grilled onion and brought burgers back to us, leaving a couple pieces of grilled onion still on it. The burgers were nasty and an absolute waste of $40. We didn't bring it up with the wait staff after being unsure what to say and not wanting to cause a scene. Other than that, the cocktails and appetizers were good. Ok...the ambiance is ok. Would be better if the fireplace actually warmed the room. We went in January, so warmth would have been nice. The food was good but nothing special. This is a solid pub choice in downtown Corvallis. It has a cozy atmosphere like he might find overseas with a fireplace in the main room next to the bar. The food is your standard pub fair salads, burgers, sandwiches as well as some old favorites like fish and chips, shepherd's pie etc.. The place can get a little haphazard on service when there's a lot of folks in there, but you have to persevere as you know what you're getting yourself into. Short: Service needs to be way better. Wait time could be shorter. Food was pretty good, warm, and comforting. Pubs are dark. Visited around 4th of July 2022. My guest and I came in around 5:30pm for an early dinner. I have heard about McMenamins Mac n Cheese being very creamy and delicious, hence the visit. When I arrived, the hostess looked confused. Once seated, I was handed a menu and not long after was asked what I would like. I felt a bit rushed to decide what to eat. First drink ordered arrived very quickly. Once I ordered, it was a long long time of waiting. I didn't understand why it took almost 45 mins for a bowl of mac n cheese, burger with tots, and fish & chips. Once I received my food, I decided to order another drink. This time with a different server, since my server was speaking with someone she knew so obviously not really paying attention to her tables. My drink sat on the counter for a good 10 mins, before I just got up and grabbed it, which isn't why there's servers. Our original server checked in with us once and it wasn't when I was ready to order another drink, it was a minute after receiving food. The food: Now I was pretty satisfied about the food, definitely felt like warm comforting bar food. If the food didn't take almost an hour [given the time of arrival], it would be worth it to come again just for the food. The mac n cheese (I ordered just plain), was very creamy and cheesy, definitely recommend to others! The macaroni pasta itself was not al dente and on the softer side. At first I didn't really like the texture but considering how creamy it was, the softness of the mac blended in. The fish & chips: I felt the fries were missing something and a little too soft. The fish was fried on the darker side and a bit oily. The Dungeon burger: It is a mushroom & swiss. Burger was made how I liked it (just well). Burger edges were crisp and the mushrooms were cooked just right. It was a very solid and good burger. Tots: just like any tots, they do have Portland Ketchup Company Ketchup, definitely a plus. The drinks: My guest drank the "Terminator Stout" and "Black Rabbit Sangria" (seasonal cocktail). Stout was cold and dark, but satisfying. The sangria was very refreshing and very well put together. About 3 people in the pub put their phone light on to read the menu, just a note. There were in total 4 people as servers, one was a managerial position I believe, others were college age workers. I understand it is a college town. But you shouldn't chit chat and hide behind the bar constantly, when there are only about 3-5 tables seated. Also, I read that a fellow reviewer had a very similar experience to mine not too long ago.. Overall, happy about the food, the service made me upset, one of the worst I have experienced. (As a previous manager at a food establishment, this made me frustrated). I'll see about visiting other McMenamins and the experiences there. read more

My wife and I got salmonella poisoning from eating here. The chicken tenders were extremely undercooked and darn near raw. It took us a while to realize this because the bar side of the restaurant is about as lit as a closet. We told server they were raw and they brought us out more. Yay....just what we wanted. He said "we cut one open to make sure they were cooked" Which one did they cut open? The smallest and skinniest one! Absolutely absurd. I should have demanded I pay nothing, but I guess I'm to nice. I got out of there and my wife and I were in complete misery 24 hours later as the salmonella punished our body over the next 3 days. We lost over $650 dollars missing work while sick. Wow. I was NOT expecting this place. Being a transplant from California, I have endured a lot of hit and misses when it comes to food around here. I had passed by this place a few times in my ins - and - outs of the city I now call home, and finally decided to stop in. Indoors, it feels like a dungeon; dark atmosphere reminds you that this is a pub not a restaurant. Got seated indoors by the staff and greeted with a menu. Wanting to try the clam chowder (which was what I was craving) my obvious choice was a burger and truffle fries...the soup became a side thought after looking at the menu options. Can't visit a pub and not have a taste right? I chose wisely in their crisp, tart, and extremely sour Blood Orange Ginger Cider. It paired excellently with the food which; The Dungeon (the burger) was perfectly sized, and the patty medium well. Taste wise, the bun was toasted perfectly and not overpowered with secret sauce. So the Truffle fries tasted DELICIOUS, but perhaps it is my style of liking for the quality; the fries arrived limp. Soft and not really crispy. What it made up in substance was the flavor. They accompany the fries with a black garlic aioli that gave it a sweetness to the earthy truffle flavor. I am sure as shit smelling like garlic now, and I don't be giving a fuck. Worth it. Overall 5 stars. I'll be back Mick-ems. Way better alternative to the leading yellow Corporate "Mick". read more

And not to go all Gordon Ramsay here, and: when the cook pulls the bread out of the freezer or refrigerator, where it should never ever be, and sees that the bread is so dried out that it crumbles, for gawds sake don't serve it, throw it away! Don't make a sandwich out of it! Better to throw away a two dollar loaf of bread than to serve crap food and throw away customers. And if the server weren't in such a rush, they should be checking the food before it goes out, and ask the customer why they didn't eat it. Dark, small, and ridiculously cool. I love the feel of this little joint and felt immediately at ease when I walked in the door. After my last trip to McMenamin's in McMinnvIlle--an utter disappointment, after everyone I knew in my new home of Oregon urged me to go--I was less than enthusiastic about giving it another go. I needn't have feared because, damn, it was good. In fact, the fish tacos were some of the best I've had in months! If you're gonna go whole hog and serve fried fish for your fish tacos, you need to balance out that greasy fry with some fresh ingredients. This means fresh pico (preferable with peppers other than bell), a crunchy cabbage slaw (iceberg lettuce is the devil) and then anything you create and add from there is just a bonus. Vera Cruz Crispy Cod Tacos: Here, the pico was tossed in a chipotle sauce and the whole shebang was topped with a cool cilantro sour cream blend that was off the charts. I ate every last bite, resorting to the use of a fork to scape up those last tasty morsels. My lunch date, who is commonly known to search for the blandest chicken sandwich on the menu, opted for a burger this time around. And, presumably just for wishy-washy types just like herself who then couldn't decide which burger, ordered the Founding Fathers Duo which comes with their bleu cheese burger and their bacon burger as slider alternatives. My server Nicole was fantastic and my Melody's CDA and the Crangerine were both super delicious, but the spinach artichoke dip was borderline gross. I think it had cumin in it? I couldn't get around the flavor and the texture that congealed as it cooled. The chips were rad, though. All the McMenamins are just like...ALMOST awesome, but don't quite get there. It definitely satisfied my burger craving. I also love places that serve tater tots. I always prefer them over fries. A couple of Hammerheads went well with the burger. Service: I had good service. She was quick and friendly even though she was working all of the tables inside by herself. Location: If the weather is nice, lots of people will opt to sit outside. Yes, another McMenamins location I paid a visit to! Mainly all on my quest to get as many stamps as possible for my cosmic passport! Corvallis has two McMenamin locations. This one has a little bit more character as far as the building goes. It kind of has an older, cottage sort of feel which gives this location some charm. I had about five of these pub locations in mind of visiting all in one day so I made a point to ear very lightly at each location before proceeding on to the next location. At this particular location I got a cup of soup. The soup of the day is different with each location you go to in a given day. I got a corned beef soup which was very tasty but did become a bit too salty and rich towards the end for me but the flavor profile precisely matched that of the sandwich in which I was very impressed with. The service here was good and was fairly prompt in which I could move on to the next location for another lovely stamp! read more

As always, mcmenamins have great food and beer, but the service can be hit or miss. This spot is definitely more of a sit down style mcmenamins, I don't think I'd go here for drinks as the bar is extremely small. But the food was very tasty. Have been here twice during the reopening phase of COVID, sat outside and well-spaced between other diners for happy hour and the service was friendly and efficient. Their happy hour food specials are awesome, we enjoyed the crispy fish tacos, scooby snacks (mini corn dogs), and Cajun Tots all split between two people and we had to take food home there was so much. And that was a 'small' order of tater tots! Fish tacos were amazing, creamy crisp slaw over perfectly seasoned golden fried fish. Yum! The second visit we started with those fish tacos again (consistently delicious), soup of the day, and skipped to dessert. The black and tan brownie was sooo good. Like flourless chocolate cake, dense and fudgy. We had drinks as well, cider and an IPA. We were all set to take some home but they were out of growlers :( This time we sat inside and they had plexiglass protection between the booths and all servers were masked. I introduced McMenamins Pub to my out-of-state relatives in 2019 and wanted to experience quaint restaurants. The first time we visited the restaurant, it was fine, we only ordered drinks. One week ago, my family from out of town visited again, this time around they wanted to try the restaurant's food. The burgers were ok, but never order their "Vera Cruz cod tacos" the tortillas were cold, and they served the tacos with one small strip of fish per cold taco measuring approximately (2" wide and 1" high) pieces of greasy fish. The whole dish was a bad experience. The meal was overpriced for the tiny amount of cold food. Don't pay over $11.00 for two cold greasy fish tacos, I'd say save your money. Maybe they can put that small plate under the children's menu. I believe you should at least get a decent amount of food that tastes good and serve it accordingly. read more

They served food AND drinks to 3 tables that were seated after we initially arrived. We gave them a few more minutes to see if anybody would even look at us or check in on us. Nothing. I normally don't write negative reviews but this one felt necessary. I have never been ignored at a restaurant before. And for 20 minutes?? Was it because we were 2 females? Seemingly in a homosexual relationship? Or was it something else? Ruined my day regardless. I hope the restaurant can reconcile this. I'm so disappointed. read more
