Let me save you some time and give you a tip to start. Oregon Trail Brewery is inside the Old World Deli, now you don't have to wander around looking for the place. I wish I cold say that what it lacks in ambiance and service behind the counter, it makes up for in the beer, but alas that is not the case. I don't know where to start with this review. Usually it's easy. However, I have too many positive things to say. Let's start with: This is one of the oldest and the best kept beer secret in OR that I have found thus far. This brewery was #2 in our Willamette Valley/Southern Oregon brew tour. We almost didn't make it because we couldn't find it and they were about to close. But I am so thrilled that we did. We walked into a building that didn't resemble a brewery (apparently it used to be a hotel?) past a bizarre looking cafe (where they happen sell the pints for consumption) and were led into the very small brewery area (Im not kidding you... it's tiny). We were met by the owner, Dave, he was going to let us try a beer before he left. However, we hit it off and he had my girlfriend and I tasting all of the extremely delicious beers (even special edition ones and there wasn't one I didn't like) and even took us on a brew tour despite being closed. We got to try some hops, see where the beer was made, and even try a new batch a beer straight out of the tanks. We would have got a pig of beer to take on our trip (he even offered to lend us a cooler), but we couldn't be sure that we could drop it off today on our way back to Portland and for the rest of our trip... we were sad. We were sad because this beer isn't sold anywhere else or bottled. Rarely it will be on tap elsewhere (I think he mentioned Bailey's in Portland), but really you have to go there to get it. And you should. It really is worth a trip to Corvallis (I mean... how ofter is the owner of a brewery going to give you a tour?!). Even if it's not your thing (very clean/refreshing beer), it is a great experience. While you are there, go to Block 15 as well. But go here first. And if you have a trip ahead of you, rent a pig full of beer. Otherwise, you will be hunting for beer to compare while you are camping and it just wont be possible. read more

Oregon Trail is one of three breweries in the city of Corvallis, and is the only nano brewery. You can generally find the whit, ginseng porter, IPA, and one rotating seasonal beer. The beer themselves are good, not great, but this is a launching pad brewery for brewers just coming out of the OSU fermentation science program. You will have a hard time locating the brewery, if you are expecting the normal brewery restaurant, rather it shares space with the Old World Deli, which generally closes by 6pm so come early. Otherwise you can generally find Oregon Trail beer on tap in several different locations throughout Corvallis, or you can pick up a pig at either the local co-op or Market of Choice. read more

We stopped by for a snack and drinks. I don't think I've had such good beer from a more unassuming place before. The brewery is located within the Old World Deli, which has a nice homely atmosphere. You can't get true samplers, but the cashier will kindly pour a taste in a condiment cup for you! I was very impressed by what I tried; everything was a solid example of its style. Amazing Beer!!! We were on date night and stumbled upon this brewery. We got a tour from the brew master, Paul, and met the owner Dave. This was the best date night ever. Got free samples and chilled with awesome people and cool music. Id def go again and get a kegs for parties there from now on. read more

This can be found in the back of the Old World Deli on 2nd St. in Corvallis. It doesn't look like much so it's easy to miss. The owner, Dave, has his own hopyard in the foothills of the Coast Range, and has some varieties of hops not found anywhere else at this time. The brewmaster, a younger man also named Dave, is a product of the fermentation sciences program at O.S.U.. He also, simply has a nose for this line of work. His talent is that of a natural. The IPA is crisp, with a bite I've found nowhere else. It's my favorite. They also make a Genseng Porter that is dark, but crisp and not too heavy. I'm not a huge fan of really dark brews, but this stuff is the exception. They will pour you a sample so try all of their beers before you decide. They offer a 2.25 gallon party pig. This ingenious invention is a mini-keg that pressurizes as it empties so, unlike growlers, it doesn't go flat. I've had one in my fridge while I went on vacation for 2 weeks that was just fine when I came back. It looks like a little brown pig, thus the name. Since I made the leap to these little ambrosia filled swine, I almost never buy bottled beer. There's something about having a nice draught in your fridge and there are no bottles to return. A pig wiil set you back $20 deposit the first time you buy one, but as long as you bring the empty back, that'll be it. I give this place 5 stars because the beer is awesome and I love the pigs. If you want to have a pint, you'll have to get it from the Old World Deli, which is right in front of the brewery. From 3-6 on weekday afternoons, The Old World Deli sells pints for $3. That's a smokin' deal for microbrews. If you're looking for handcrafted brew to take home without having to drink it before it goes flat, you gotta try Oregon Trail. If you don't like it, take your pig back, take your $20, and go have a pint somewhere else. What have you got to lose? read more

5 stars based upon staying power, and a willingness to brew beer as THEY see fit......I sampled an upcoming Belgian styled sour that was outstanding, tart, complex, loaded with flavor. Sometimes simple just works, I'd like to say more, but nothing else needs saying. read more
