    Bodega Breakfast Sandwich
    Steve B.

We ended up sitting outside which was fine since it was a nice day. We got there towards the end of the time they were open, but I ended up getting the Bodega Breakfast Samdwich and potatoes. The sandwich was really good and flavorful!!! All the food at the table looked really good. Looking forward to going back and trying more things!!! Service was great, she was friendly and attentive!

Food was tasty but for the amount of food and time it took for us to receive our food I feel like it was overpriced. Three pieces of French toast and barely any German vanilla sauce in the small container left me feeling like they didn't want to put in the effort to make more before closing. The cooked apples on top were tasty but not nearly enough for the French toast. Between the wait time for food, lack of French toast on the plate, complete lack of sauce...just left me feeling like we likely would not be back.

This is a cozy spot downtown. Caves is a lovely date spot or fun friend hang. I've been twice for brunch and it's so lovely. I didn't know this before but you can make a reservation. My favorite is to snag a spot at bar. They have friendly service and lots of smiles to go around. We both enjoyed our food. I like the portions because you get full and it feels just right. My scrambled eggs were fluffy and the perfect amount of cheese. The potatoes were cooked to a pillowy center with a nice crisp outside. The server even went to their Block 15 partner next door to get me some Cholula hot sauce. That meant a lot on a busy brunch run. I really enjoyed the fruit on my plate too. Kiwi was delicious. My dining partner loved their ham Benedict too. Keep being awesome Caves. What are y'all waiting for? It's brunch time.

This was a solid spot for a great happy hour. We liked their $5 appetizers small plates for happy hour. Their happy hour drink discounts left more to be desired. We liked the brussel sprouts the most. The slider was just okay in my opinion. The Brie bites were good. The fries were not that great. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and makes it a great place to meet with friends, go on a date or enjoy a solo sip at the bar.

We loved everything we had there, especially the lovely cocktails! Service was stellar! We didn't have a reservation and they found a seat for us right away, we will definitely be back when we are visiting our daughter in Corvallis.

We came for brunch. I noticed the reviews were not very favorable around brunch. I think I Understand why. We started with the fruit plate. Some yummy pieces on it but a little sparse. The house made donut was good. Can't really go wrong with a fresh donut but the value was definitely not there. I got the Chicken and waffles. It's possible that I'm just weird but I don't like to mix eating media. Therefore I want to eat the chicken with a knife and fork too. It came with a boneless thigh and a leg. The breading was unique almost like a panko. Fair seasoning but it had trouble adhering to the meat. Definitely a forgettable dish. My wife got the tomato confit. It was good in an avocado toast sort of way but kind of missing the tomato confit. My fil got the shakshuka. It was good but served euth these soft flatbread triangles so a little awkward to eat. A decent effort but a lot of missteps. There's potential.

The pros! Drinks were great, drinks fairly priced, service was amazing, very attentive, we both loved the ambiance, the menu was very detailed, had varying options for everyone, and had a great 5$ happy hour menu. The cons... Lack of flavor in dishes or seasoning, more on the expensive side, and I ordered a medium rare burger that came out well done. We both had a great time celebrating our anniversary and really loved the ambiance. The servers were amazing and the food came out quick but they had just opened. We also got the Smash Slider from the 5$ menu (not pictured, we were hungry ) and it was good. The lack of flavor started in slider and ended in the entrees but the ingredients made up for it. Overall, great place to out to, get a drink and some food during happy hour.

Definitely not rare New York strip after cutting all the way through it.

The drinks were good, atmosphere was good, but the food service was debatable. Tonight after the baseball game we had a group of six come in two of us ordered New York strip (rare) thinking the cost at $45 the highest on the menu would come out absolutely amazing well I was sorely disappointed. I don't recommend this place and will never be going back there plus at $45 no thank you.

We enjoyed welcoming interior, friendly service, interesting menu and good food at moderate price point in this downtown restaurant. It was not the best overall dining of a five day trip to Corvallis (that nod would go to Castor) but when we compared notes for "best dish" of the trip, both my husband and I chose the Twice Baked Souffle ($17) we shared as one of three brunch menu choices at Caves the Sunday we arrived in town. The goat cheese and fresh herb souffle was delicious and beautifully presented in a pool of pistaschio cream with pickled chard stems, pickled cherry tomatoes topped with microgreens. We wondered where all the other diners were because in the pushing 90 minutes we were there (we enjoyed the space to want to linger) there was an average of no more than six others in the dining room and by the time we left only another couple remained. VIBE: We understand there is some buzz about a remodel done sometime after 2020 that changed the vibe from a darker, moodier, more rustic one to the light and bright but sophisti-cozy place it is now with a fireplace on one wall and great lighting. We can't compare the new to the old, but we liked the new a lot and pride of ownership shone in the details. Still Corvallis is a college down and while my college years are way in my rearview I can appreciate that this is not a place where students want to hang. (The brew pub right next door was hopping though.) Music mix on sound system was loud enough to know it was there but not so loud as to compete with conversation. EATS: We had heard yawns, metaphorically speaking, for the brunch food when asking locals about Caves and some Yelp reviews seemed a similar perspective. But based on our experience, we enthusiastically recommend it to others. Although one of the 3 dishes we ordered, a fig and honey tartine ($9) that was described on menu as using toasted country brown bread and arrived on warm but not toasted bread that seemed more supermarket sourced sandwich slice than the rustic bakery quality we expected so, for us, good intent but was 'off' in execution. The other, merguez sausage on a roll with caramelized onions and arugula ($17), had too little of the former (and they needed a bit of salt), maybe too much of the latter and was lukewarm at service but the flavor and texture of the merguez sausage, made in house using Oregon lamb said our server when we asked, was great. May be opportunity for finesse improvement from the kitchen. But we enjoyed this introduction and had we had one additional day we would have gone back for "gather hour" leading into dinner to try other things and a cocktail from their bar. LIBATIONS: Dark roast coffee from a local roaster was perfect for us. In addition to cocktail menu from full bar they had an interesting wine list. SERVICE: The server was friendly, he knew the menu and he could answer questions. We felt tended but not hovered over. HOURS & HAPPY HOUR: Called "gather hour" from 4:00 - 5:30 offers half a dozen'ish small plates at $5 each and a small discount on some libations. Repeats at late night I think. Closed Tue/Wed. Open 4p Mon, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun for dinner service. Brunch 9 - 2 Sat, Sun. MENU / PRICES: Dinner menu $6 - $45 with most items in the $9 - $20 range. Brunch $4 - $19. SEATING: Standard height tables and chairs around the perimeter, including by the front windows, provide equal access for all ages and walks of life. High two tops in the middle of the space. A couple of outdoor tables in front. ACCESSIBILITY: The door is a little tricky but help opening is provided. Standard height tables available. Loo is ADA compliant. Due to a fall before the trip I used a wheelchair here so can provide first hand experience that it worked. They ought to add 'wheelchair accessible' to the list of "amenities" Yelp has for owners to choose from. And they ought to consider putting the info on their web site as Corvallis eatery Castor does so perfectly. PARKING: On street downtown Corvallis and looks like paid lots too.

Prices a bit high for food and service. Parking on street only. Did not have to wait with reservations. Above average food for Corvallis.

Portions are a little small but the food itself is great. Interesting and tasty cocktails as well. Nice little date night spot.

The food was not delicious. The drinks were scrumptious. The service was aloof. The atmosphere was lovely. I'd go for drinks only next time.
