Not sure what intrigued me more...the name of the location (philomath, or) or the name of the restaurant. Either reason is legit because they know how to cook! The warm carrot and spring onion salad spoke to me and thank goodness it did. The kitchen single handedly restored my faith in carrots as something with a flavor - a thing I had been pondering lately. The coriander pork tenderloin were next after being lured in by the description of the white beans being prepared by the 'king of beans'. They were terrific and by this time the place was getting busy. I am not a big chocolate mousse fan but gave that a try to round out what was a terrific non-rushed meal. It was not quite as revelatory as the warm carrot salad, but a great choice. The adventurous and varied menu looks like it changes over time so you'll just have to go multiple times to see what other culinary wonders they can create, and it is a no brainer to try it for breakfast. The staff was very welcoming and had a great sense of humor about them. This place is a gem. read more

Way over rated waited 40 mins when we were told 10-15. Wife ordered a latte whe waiting. Wasn't ready 15 mins later when were seated. We sat 10 feet from espresso machine and gal never even bothered to call out our name. She just said she couldn't find us and threw it away. It was already paid for! Hostess sat us and got us menus. Waitress showed up 5 min later to get us coffee. She took our order and it came out pretty fast. That was the last we saw of her. We had to flag down hostess to get coffee refill. As for the food. My wife's ham and cheese omelet was way way overcooked and dry with just a dab of cheese inside. My Dizzy Hen Benedict started out OK but when it cooled slightly the gravy turned to gum paste. Potatoes were great. Granted it was busy but they had plenty if very unexperienced wait staff. The hostess was outstanding and even remade our latte to go because their barista was clueless. The rest sucked and only crappy diner food overpriced. Coffee is good though. read more

The service is really energetic which is cool but felt a bit much for me. The actually vibe of the restaurant is really good, and realistically saved The Dizzy Hen from getting 1 star from me. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and could not finish it. It was the worst tasting breakfast sandwich I had ever had. Along with that, I got my sandwich without the potatoes, that showed up 10 minutes later. I would generally avoid this place at all costs. Rivas makes better breakfast. read more

Their hours were wrong on Yelp, so we ended up going back to Safeway to use the restroom to kill some time. We got back at 8:55 and the line had already started. It was raining and they waited ubtil 9am sharp to open. But wait, ONLY TO GO ORDERS???? And, they only want 2 inside at a time, and you can't wait inside while you wait for your food?? And, there were only 2 people at the counter and one was constantly answering the phone instead of helping someone who was second in line. Lame. I left and went to McDonalds. read more

This is a new restaurant in a very old building in Philomath. The prior restaurant had seen better days and closed. This business is new. The decor is refreshing, the service is friendly with lots of smiles. Nice mix of music. Espresso, pastries and breakfast. Lunch coming after Memorial Day. The menu is small and obviously meant to change. My wife and I had the bacon, green onion and mushroom omelette with very tasty home fries: fresh, hot, not dried out at all. Coffee is fresh and full-bodied. I'm a roaster ( www.caffearrosto.com ) so I know good coffee. Dad had ham, eggs and Home fries. His came with toast. We had to ask for some to go with our omelettes; no worries. Kitchen service was somewhat slow, but to be expected for a new restaurant. The food quality is excellent, so no complaints. We'd come back and highly recommended. We got there at 8:00 am or so and by the time we left it was packed. Bring your appetite! read more

We came here on a Sunday during brunch time. The food is one hundred percent a 5/5. It is very delicious and unique to this restaurant. Between the four of us we had the French toast, chicken sando, the traditional breakfast. & "the dizzy". Each one was amazing. The drinks are mediocre (coffee & alcoholic beverages). The major downside of this restaurant is that we were waiting right outside of the front door for our table... they skipped our party three times before having us sit because we weren't here? Maybe implying we weren't inside? It's a small space we thought we were being respectful by waiting outside. Our mistake. They never walked outside to call group names even though there were 3+ groups out there. Our server also had a bad attitude. However we would recommend to anyone coming to town! One of the best breakfast places around town! On the weekends the wait can be a while but the servers are so awesome and friendly. Our water and coffee were constantly filled. The atmosphere is lively with coffee available while waiting and the pastries on display. I love how their menu has some changes weekly and is on the smaller side. I had the vegan hash which was so well seasoned and was packed with veggies. I got to also try their pork ragu in which the pork was just so tender and savory which then with the grits made it even better. The food overall is just so delectable. We're from out of town so we didn't know about a Sunday Brunch but casual kind of place. Our son and daughter-in-law steered us to DH because it's one of their favorites. And it was all true: a local's place with an emphasis on local meats, fruits and vegetables, VERY wonderful taste, a staff that works hard and loves what they do, very accommodating, a real joy of a meal. We'll be back. The only slight difficulty is the noise but even that is, oddly, part of the fun. P.S. each one of the four plates was special, and delicious, in it's own way. Peter read more
