On my way to Newport I stopped for a hot coffee, there wasn't any other customer in line so service wasn't slow and the coffee was good. The next day coming back from Newport I decided to try this place again, there was two other cars inline when I pulled up, we set there for 18 minutes until the car waiting inline in front of me had enough and left, I waiting a couple more minutes a decided to do the same. I drove about a mile up the road until we came to a Dutch Brothers on the corner of Southwest 53rd Street, there was four vehicles ahead of me, a Dutch Bro employee was outside taking everyone's order as we pulled up, it only took a couple of minutes, the service and coffee was amazing. The Human Bean needs to implement the same type of service, I gave them two stars because I do think they have potential. read more

I stumbled on The Human Bean while running errands in Philomath and now I go out of my way to stop here. I'm sure they have great coffee drinks, but I've been enjoying their dairy free smoothies this summer. I know it's a franchise, but I really like the ingredients they use - I get my smoothies made with coconut milk. Of course, everyone has mentioned it - the special treat is that they give you a little chocolate covered coffee bean (it looks like a speckled egg) with every drink. I'm a sucker for that kind of thing and it makes me smile every time I get my drink. I also love that THB is a drive-thru and the folks who make your drinks are always friendly and quick. read more

I usually go to the Human bean in Newport, I have been to several Human beans. I love the coffee & it's usually my everyday stop. Every once in awhile I have to go to Philometh so I stop in at their location. EVERYTIME my coffee is made wrong and it is DISGUSTING! I'm not one to complain, or go back to get it remade. A solid coffee shop. I myself usually always go with black coffee, my wife however has her usual unique drink. As many other coffee shops I'm sure do, they'll make our drinks in anticipation of us ordering them (they recognize us in line). This is always appreciated especially when we're in a hurry. She has said to me more than once how she's never disappointed with her order there. I agree completely. Their drip (and it's real drip, not no Americano substitute) is excellent every time, not watered down or thick as oil, just right. I'll occasionally come through with a weird flavor request like a chocolate, banana, peanut butter mocha and they always find a way to come through. read more

This is my must have every morning. Not only is their coffee addicting (so much better than Dutch in my opinion). The staff is equally as friendly and not in a fake over the top way.They always know my order when I get up to the window, I love that I can pay with their app on my phone, and even though I always get the same drink they always have unique monthly flavor choices. When I first started working in Philomath I was very excited to be able to grab an espresso before work or while coming back from the daily bank run. I ordered the same thing about every time I came through. They make very, very good coffee and espresso. The pleasant chatter that you normally get at a coffee place was absent early on and I figured that would change in time as I became a regular. It didn't, instead the body language and tone of voice was as though I was interrupting their day. I kind of got used to this, but their coffee was still good and they got my order right--despite needing to ask for it every day, with no recognition on their faces. And then I don't know what happened, but I started to get the wrong sized drink all the time, or when ordering for myself and my boss they would mix up which was which--this would have been fine, except the boss drinks twelve ounce cups and I drink twenty. I tried for about a month to get the right drinks from them by repeating my order clearly or sending a drink back if it was wrong. This didn't seem to work, and then I just gave up and found another place to get my coffee and espresso. I don't plan on getting coffee at this human bean, or any other for that matter, ever again. read more

Wife and I wanted coffee, and we looked up and saw THB. Never been to one, but we knew they had coffee. The staff were very nice. They gave me a couple of recommendation because I wasn't sure what I wanted. I got some kind of Caramel Hazelnut Iced Coffee. My wife got the Pumpkin Spice Latte, of course. Went to get some coffee before heading to Newport and decided to stop here. We've been here before and it wasn't bad but this time it was. We both order mint iced mochas but we saw the girl poor so much chocolate milk in our drinks. When we had them it straight tasted like pure chocolate milk with a hint of mint. You couldn't even taste the coffee and also we both wanted extra shots and I'm not so sure if we even got them. Wasn't satisfied this time going around. read more
