I decided to give black rock Albany another chance as I was passing through and really needed a pick me up. I also hate the idea allowing 1 employee to dictate how a business is represented. My partner got the sugar free caramel blondie with vanilla cold foam and caramel drizzle. Very delicious and flavorful if you enjoy strong coffee flavors. I will say that it's definitely not a food location. We got the bagel dog, chorizo bagel, and bacon breakfast burrito. It's alright, my partner and I compared it to school food lol. The service was great! The employees definitely like to spark up a conversation while working on your order. It's a small drive through coffee stop with no indoor common area. LOVE this place! I've probably been here 50 times by now this year. All of the staff are upbeat and have a great sense of humor. One of them even told me about an adjustment he could make with my favorite drink that I believe he invented & it was even yummier! (It's called a Snickers). It is pretty convenient stopping in here off of Interstate 5 especially when I need a pick me up for my drives. Some times I forget to grab something on my way out of town, or I need something on my way home. I have been traveling up North towards Portland lately from Eugene, so this is the perfect stop. I am not much of a coffee fan so I get flavored energy drinks. I don't drink them very often, but I will on a long drive. The flavors they have here are really great, and the service is always with a warm, and friendly personality. Not overbearing like at some other places. Now that the holidays are here I might get the peppermint mocha since I will drink those. I'm sure those are pretty good here. read more

Had my third bad experience with this location and don't plan to return. I had a little over 1.5 in punch cards from before their digital rewards system was installed. I rarely go to black rock for coffee. I went there the day before today and purchased a blended white mocha. Handing them a punch card to add to my account. Last time through I had purchased a drink and provided them a punch card with 6 punches. I asked if I now had a full drink on my next visit and the girl apologized saying only had 8 punches. After an explanation they changed the account and corrected my points. On returning the next day. To redeem those points the girl working the counter in forms me I owe them the price of the drink. When I corrected with what had transpired yesterday. She goes to tell me I owe her the cost regardless because the system doesn't reflect our discussion. I mention the this was frustrating and this was the second day in a row where this is an issue. I also mentioned this makes me never want to come back to the black rock Coffee, a place I don't visit much anyways. She gives me the drink and apologizes in an i don't believe and get out of my hair attitude. Then goes on to tell me the system screws up all the time and this is a daily problem. So I asked my self while driving away if it's consistently a problem and I was telling her it's wrong why was she fighting me and not believing me. Regardless, I got hot mocha trying a different drink and realized the coffee used by black rock has a distinct organic cat piss type ora and one I'm not that fond of. And not the flavors I remember from when I used to get coffee here more regularly. I give the a 1 star for their inhospitable employees mostly but also mixing that with this location doesn't fit the brand experience I have had else where with Black Rock. read more

I have been to this place a few times now and have not had the best experience. One time I heard the girls in there talking about how there were mice and poop everywhere. Ew. However I figured something was being done about this issue. I decided to give it another try and they still were talking about how unsanitary things were and I figured I should post something on here. While on here I started reading other reviews and saw one very recently about a girl who I believe I have seen the same types of issues with while I have visited... as far as I saw, the way she talked to her co-workers was very belittling and demeaning. My teenage daughter showed me the girls on the Black Rock Hwy 34 Instagram page and I believe her to be the one named Autumn. Service was rude and horrible. The previous cuStomer was smiling and the barista was hanging out the window talking and smiling also. I get there and there's no eye contact. She seemed irritated even taking my order.I asked for a blended drink and they gave it to me iced and I swear the girl with black hair even rolled her eyes. I'd rather drive to salem for my black rock, or go down the road to Dutch or human bean. I'm glad there's now a Bentley's in town also. We try to tell ourselves that we are not coffee snobs, but we probably are. We love Black Rock Coffee. Aside of using our French press at home, on the road, Black Rock is some of the best coffee you can get to go. I call it honest coffee. Starbucks burns every roast, and has falsified their claims to "fair trade" coffee, and they have become severely over commercialized. In my opinion, Dutch Brothers is just sugared milk with coffee extract. I feel that some of these coffee chains are surviving off of brand name, sugar content, and trendy hype. Portland has a amazing selection of roasted coffee bean suppliers. We are definitely a coffee city. A simple, honest cup of perfectly roasted coffee always comes out of Black Rock. I hope that they hold on to their standards. As a large chain, they are just about the best in our city. Black Rock is a wonderful staple, and a great representation of coffee for us. I have yet to taste burnt beans from them. No matter which location we stop at, we always get awesome service. read more

Great little coffee drive-thru right off of I-5. Came through a couple times recently while traveling and I was pleasantly surprised at the menu options, prices & speed of service. (Despite indecisive children in the car). On an early morning pass I was hoping to make it through without waking my sleeping passengers and sure enough they took my order, my money, then handed me my drink within what seemed like 30 seconds. Let me start by saying the coffee was good. Now the bad. I purchased a coffee drink for $4 and a dollar tip. When I receive my coffee I asked them to throw away my cup from the previous coffee shop. The girl at the window help both hands up like it was poisonous and said we can't take anything through the window. They sure didn't have a problem taking my money through the window. Nothing hurts more than hearing the pitcher of screaming milk lazily dunked with the steam wand and slapped up under the machine. No foam, hot burning molten lava with my over extracted 4oz shot of espresso. I'll taste the quality in an hour when the temperature cools to 170.
