Albany was in need of a great coffee shop. This place is an excellent addition to a quaint and historic downtown area. All of the employees are friendly and helpful. I've been here three times, and I've always had great service. The coffee is excellent. The menu isn't huge, but it's tastefully selected. Everything I've ordered was carefully prepared and delicious. And the space they occupy really is attractive. ALERT!!! This place is a local gem. The Albany coffee scene had literally nothing going on until this spot came to town. And holy moly. It needed to happen. Let's start at the top: 1. Ownership- friendly, awesome, fair, fun. 2. Service- genuine, motivated, outgoing (but not annoyingly so), make the drinks right every time 3. Space- this is the coolest looking space I have ever stepped into in Albany. Everyone can feel together, but have their own conversations. Roomy, beautiful. It's a place you want to spend some time. 4. Product- SO GOOD. They use a Willamette valley roster (correct me if I'm wrong) and take coffee seriously. All the beverages are 10/10, so you'll have to keep coming back. Whether you've got a work meeting or want to catch up with a friend, this is the place to do it. Beautiful spot with plenty of room and seating. I mainly wanted to leave a review to mention how nice and helpful the staff was; they all seemed happy and had a positive energy which really makes all the difference for me. I've been to coffee shops that are aesthetically gorgeous, but the workers seem irritated and like they don't want to interact with you. This was not the case here, really lovely workers and atmosphere. I didn't love my pour over, but that's more on me for picking a blend outside my comfort zone. I can tell they have high quality coffee here. If I'm ever in the area again I'll be coming back to try something more up my alley. read more

An absolute gem in an absolutely unexpected location. For those of us whose daily cup of joe involves slightly more than picking up a venti of something or the other at a Starbucks / Dutch Bros drive-through window in the morning, finding "good" coffee in the Willamette Valley is a difficult task; Sure, there's always the world-acclaimed roasters and coffee shops in Portland (who are also starting to get a little complacent, I may add) and freshly roasted coffee beans from all over the country can now be accessed at your fingertips with a phone or a laptop, but sometimes you need somewhere to just sit down, enjoy the rare sighting of sunshine, and feed your inner caffeine monster before it starts exhibiting symptoms of withdrawal while you keep perfectly calm on the outside. I'm happy and surprised to say that Margin has consistently been one of my favorite places to stop by for a quality cup of coffee every time I find myself in Albany; they have a rotating selection of fresh single origins and blends from notable local roasters such as Heart, Sisters, Dapper and Wise, and a delectable collection of quiches and other light accompaniments to help you boost start your day. Been watching this place for awhile and finally made time to drop in. I didn't try any pastries, but had about the best latte ever, crema so thick I almost had to chew it. Listen for your order to be announced---the baristas do not bring it to your table. High-ceilinged vintage room, charming but poor acoustics, as is characteristic of such spaces. The ambience would be enhanced if the Muzak were turned off. Metal chairs with wooden seats not super comfortable. The bathrooms are tiled and furnished with period-correct fixtures, the first time I've seen this done. Popular with hipsters and middle-aged couples and groups. Street parking usually has open slots, but I start watching from about a block west. Right next door to a bakery and Novak's (which is not yet open as of this date). read more

Best coffee in town....great service.....that simple. Passing through town for a rugby tournament and needed coffee on the way home. Yelp recommended this place but reviews were limited and the town is pretty run down with evidence of a cool revitalization. I wasn't expecting much but when I arrived at Margin Coffee I was blown away with their epic level awesomeness. The environment is well dialed in with a balance of classy and historic with functional hip and trendy without being cliche . They carry Coava coffee from Portland which is awesome, but then they also carry Bespoken from Corvallis and those guys kinda rocked my world with such an awesomely balanced espresso roast. Barista answered my coffeenerd questions sufficiently and made me an outstanding latte. I'd put this shop in my book as top contenders in the regions. They can go toe-to-toe with any Portland or Seattle coffeeshop. Keep up the good work! One recommendation would be to see if you can establish a relationship with White Rabbit Bakery 45 minutes north to supply some gluten-free baked magic awesomeness to provide some GF options for those of us that can't enjoy the real treats. Any respectable GF goodies would be appreciated but White Rabbit does an excellent job and they aren't super far. You guys are rocking it ! read more
