A bit slow, just owner and cook working a very busy floor that includes walk-in to go and dine-in. The menu is specialized delights and many of the dishes take more time to prepare. As delicious as it is, I had a house coffee in lieu of a specialty coffee because I didn't want to wait. Plan your visit with plenty of time and you can't go wrong. read more

The sandwich bread I brought home was 5 star.. didn't realize they made loaves to take home! Hazelnut Gorgonzola and it is fantastic. I've also had breakfast here in the past and love the ambience. However as past reviewers have mentioned, the service can be really slow. I only come when my day is open. That said, the Shirred Eggs are very good. Came here for breakfast, always look forward to it. Found a hair in my shirted eggs, took it up to the counter. They were very gracious agreed to make me another one. Offered a pastry as a consolation. Felt like I shouldn't have had to pay for it and didn't feel like it was very well handled. This is the place to come when you're fighting and hangover and you need fuel. The sun was shining and we were finally able to enjoy some outdoor seating. Be prepared if you get the shirred eggs they are very runny and egg forward similar to the inside a French omelette. I liked them but they're not everyone's cup of tea. Afterwards I'd suggest heading over to the co-op which is without question the best grocery store in Corvallis. read more

Tried this place from an online recommendation. Prices were reasonable and food was ok, but had an issue with service when we didn't want to be seated on a table wedged against a corner. When we preferred to sit elsewhere, we were intentionally ignored by the hurt server. We were eventually helped by someone else who did her best, but I think the whole resturaunt was understaffed. I love eating here. The coffee Sam's Station roasts is delicious, and they make some really yummy lattes with it like the Early Riser or Katherine's delight. This was one of the first spots I went to when I moved to Corvallis. The owner was so welcoming and the food was great! They had good distance between tables for Covid and a good system for entering/exiting and keeping a distance. No touch menus were also a nice touch! But the prices are outrageous. $15 for an omelette plus coffee and tip means $20 for breakfast. The food is a little better than Broken Yolk but not enough to justify the price. RUN. Run far away, this place is TERRIBLE!!!!!! I've had bad service, but this was just ridiculous. We were a party of six and ordered a couple of salads, sandwiches, soups, and one Eggs Benedict, and several coffee drinks. Twenty minutes later, we were told they're out of pastrami, english muffins for the egg's benedict, and roast beef. The folks in our party settle for something else. We ended up waiting AN HOUR AND A HALF for our food that was mediocre at best. How does soup, salads, eggs, and sandwiches take that long? I honestly thought we were on a TV prank show. One of the people I was with had hyperglycemia and was almost passed out because his blood sugar was so low-- I had to give him gum because nothing was on the table. They are so lucky he didn't faint or anything. Another friend I was with had her sandwich delivered and the waitress said it was made wrong, takes it back, only to bring the same plate back five minutes later. The chicken salad sandwich was more or less bread, lettuce, and a thin layer of mayonnaise heavy chicken salad. When our check came, the waitress made no apology and nothing was comped. I went in with a few others and the owner/manager/old lady with an attitude that was at the register basically just blinked and said "what do you want me to do?" Something tells me if we were ten or twenty years older we would have been treated differently. Again, no apology they started making excuses and said "We're a small establishment" "It's a Sunday, our busiest day" "You came during the Church Rush" um, I've worked in food service at small establishments--- this is UNACCEPTABLE. You don't make excuses to the customer and give them attitude. You own up to the fact that your service is rotten and the food is OK at best. When all is said and done, they took off the coffees and two sandwiches. Big deal. If I wasn't with friends I would have left after waiting 20 minutes and wouldn't have given them a cent. There are so many other places in the area, please whatever you do don't waste your time or money here. read more

Have been eating here for a while and sadly will not be coming back. Took the family out for breakfast and waited 50 minutes for food to hit our table after the orders were taken. Coffee came fast, but after fifteen minutes of looking at my empty cup, I had to approach the counter to request more for me and others. Service has always been slow here, but this set a record. When food finally came, salad dressing that was ordered did not appear until 5 minutes later, and the condiments requested did not appear at all until I made an additional request. Post-meal, the check still did not arrive promptly until I went to the counter, again, to ask to pay on the spot. 'Well, it must have been busy,' some would say. Midway through our 50 minute wait, however, there were five open tables at one point, and all of them were never filled up during our stay. A family near us, who were seated just after we were, still had not received their food after we'd already got ours, ate, and left. Perhaps they never did. I've eaten at great restaurants. Busy restaurants. Popular restaurants. They've often bee packed and, if the place is well run, there's never much of a wait once seated. I will say the wait staff was very nice, friendly, and pleasant. I blame management here. The food was good, so no complaint there, but hardly gourmet. It strikes me, however, that a two egg breakfast should go for something under $15 a plate. There used to be less expensive and basic items on the menu, but those are gone with a recent menu change. I blame lack of competition for some of this, for if a place opened across the street that got the basics right: good food, decent value, and prompt service, then Sam's would fold in a hurry as they approach the first but fail in the last two outright. Finally, I approached the manager (owner?) to tell her of our experience, her response in its entirety was "OK." If that was my response to a courteous and honest customer who offered a respectful but dissatisfied critique of their experience, I'd have been fired from any job I've held. What that communicated to me was that she feels she can serve any pedestrian fare she pleases, price it as if gourmet, and make the customer wait nearly an hour, to boot. My response? There are plenty of other breakfast joints in town that serve decent food, don't overcharge, and serve it up in a fraction of the time; I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Well. It Took them 45 mins (not exaggerating) to get us coffee and tea - yes hot water and a tea packet. Then they ran out of items and didn't let us know - just brought our food out, after over an hour had passed with substitute items. Poor employees were under staffed. read more

They aren't microwaving prepackaged food like Applebees. I chose Sam's Station for lunch today because I was meeting a friend I haven't seen in a while, and I knew we'd be able to linger. Sure enough, three hours later, we finally left, full of delicious soup and sandwiches. They always bring a little baked treat out with the check, which is a good way to sucker you into buying dessert. I would rather wait longer for my food than have an impatient waitress ask me how I'm doing every five minutes. Definitely try their soup/sandwich combo. I haven't had bad soup here yet. But don't come here if you need to eat and run, because it takes time to prepare really good food. read more

Sam's Station is a hard one for me to review. The food is delicious. The potatoes are especially good (and unlike some other breakfast places in Corvallis, they are homemade, not out of a bag). The baked goods are excellent. The portions are just about perfect -- not too huge, but not stingy. The service isn't great. I've never had anyone be rude, but they are often not very attentive and I have had to wait for coffee refills many times. Also, one weird thing: when you order toast with your meal, they bring the teeniest little cup of jam I've ever seen. It's *maybe* a teaspoon. OK, it could be a tablespoon. But it's not nearly enough for two pieces of toast. So, if you order toast, ask for extra jam, because if you have to ask for it after your meal comes, you'll be waiting. One thing I love is that when they bring your check, they bring little bits of pastry with it (samples of their many muffins and breads). It's a nice touch. read more

Been here twice. Once for Lunch and once for morning coffee and a muffin. Morning coffee and a muffin - Wonderful. Had a specialty mocha and it was delightful. The muffin was excellent. The person behind the counter taking my order was ok, it was slow and there was plenty of time to be friendly but the whole transaction from taking my order to giving me my change was very flat and dull. Lunch - Had a excellent pastrami sandwich. You have the option of a half or a whole, well.... A whole is actually 2 sandwiches! Plenty to fill me up for lunch and take some to go. =) But again, the service left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Had brunch at Sam's yesterday with two girlfriends. The food was excellent, the service was very slow. If you are in no hurry, then all is good, provided you are not waiting for a table. The fried potatoes are awesome! The "Matts favorite" was also excellent (potatoes, sausage, pineapple and fried eggs). I don't know that I would have liked the shirred eggs, but my friend said they were good. The French toast was made with sliced up cinnamon rolls, and looked like a flat version of monkey bread. They also had just plain eggs, meat and toast for $8. The baked goods have been good in the past, we didn't sample more than a quarter of a snicker doodle (good!) this visit. read more
