Atmosphere - The name and vibe is pure Irish, the food is an Asian fusion menu. A very long and narrow building that lends to a great long bar. We sat at the on end, clearly the handicap spot and would have given the space up if necessary. Food Drinks - Today was the release of Pliny the Younger. Beer nerds knows what the means. As I guy that lives in Nevada and Pliny the Elder is on tap I a Dinner - I went with what Guy had on Dinner, Drive In, and Dives, the Philly Cheese. Not the classic you would expect from the city's name sake but an Asian fusion. I enjoyed every bite of that sandwich. ** Update - I picked the wrong menu item. Guy had the Braised Brisket Pho-French Dip. Thanks Victor H., as I told him I will just have to go back now. My Wife's Dinner - She ordered the three of the pho taco's knowing one of which was going be mine. I did not know until she was finished. This was also featured on Triple D, and I really enjoyed my cheesesteak but I think the taco was far better. That was hard to type as I love cheesesteaks. We expected street taco but these were bit larger and packed with yummy goodness. Then you still could put more on top with the pho standard toppings. We ordered the Mac and cheese and not so big salad. The Mac and cheese had a nice crust, and liquidy cheese sauce. The flavors were good and didn't feel too heavy after eating a whole bowl. The Caesar salad was a really big portion even tho it was the smaller size. The sauce was a bit thicker than I'd expect. But everything was delicious. Bartenders are fast and friendly. Finally got the chance to go out to the banshee a couple weeks ago. Went after dark so was trying to find a seat inside. Had to wait maybe 5-10 minutes for a table o open up. But there is always the option to get a drink while waiting. I got the Atlantic cod po boy. It was really good. Bread was light and airy, the fried cod was crisp and wasn't oily. We showed up at 10pm for a late dinner. They have a special menu that starts at 10pm but it isn't your expected pub deep-fried fare. It's paired-down from the full menu, but it is still extensive and satisfying! We opted for the bahn-mi tacos, the pastrami bomb sandwich, and the duck fat fries. Everything was so good. My gf is used to overlooking stuff -- but if I wasn't with her I would have left - because I have social anxiety going out is hard for me - when I'm treated less than ... We have been coming here for a few years. And it's usually a must go to whenever we come to town. We love this place! You seat yourself, it does get busy at times, but it is worth it! They have the best mac n cheese ever!!!! This time I ordered the mac n cheese of course. It is very rich, you can definitely split it. We had the chicken wings and my husband ordered the burger. Can't remember which one, but he said it was AMAZING! I also had the blackberry bramble, it was really good but it was missing the blackberries. Food is five stars. You don't need a long review here. Place is crowded because the food is delicious. Service for us was fine. It wasn't as great as the food. Fries handcut and fried in duck fat, melt-in-your-mouth pastrami, a tuna melt that comes with practically the whole tuna, a crisp and creamy chorizo and goat cheese quesadilla... This list goes on. We were a large party all enjoying each others food. The mac and cheese everyone raves about deserves it's praise. We've been waiting so long for the Banshee to reopen, we went last night to satisfy my wife's hunger for their fish tacos. Well I wasn't expecting much being the had only been open for a few days and with mostly new employees, boy did they prove me wrong! Drink order was almost as soon as we sat down as was our food orders. Wife got the fish tacos and I the fish n chips, food came quick and hot and boy was it good. Wife loved her long awaited taco and I must admit my fish n chips were some of the best I've ever had. The Banshee is a real good pub in downtown Chico. They have an excellent bar with staff that serves well and recognizes their regulars, plus their rotating list of drafts hits the full spectrum of beers. However, the food here makes them one of my favorite places in this town. They have amazing Oven baked Mac and Cheese with options of Jalapeño, mushrooms, bacon and pastrami. And real good Wings, fish tacos and a great Burger menu (there's a peanut butter cheese burger that I can't stop thinking about). Regardless, today I wanted a sandwich and I was craving a French dip. So I read this Beef Brisket Pho-rench dip sandwich in the middle of the sandwich list and being the adventurous diner that I am, I went with it. I didn't catch on until they served it up that the "pho" was legitimately a French/Vietnamese hybrid sandwich... and I can't begin to tell you how much I liked it. The brisket with all the pho fixings inside a wonderful toasted French bread bun comes with a bowl of Pho broth for dipping. You also get bean sprouts and jalapeño slices and lime wedges to add to the meal. Get this sandwich! You will love it. read more

If I'm honest service is very meh. Table service is disorganized as hell. I.e. another tables food being brought to the table instead of our food. The wait time is very long and like it takes forever to even get the attention of the waiter ppl to pay the check. Considering how small the space is. The tacos are delicious but not worth spending 7 dollars for 1. In comparison in oakland you can get the same quality of taco at chulita Linda but for like half that price. The mac and cheese is pretty yummy as well. Serving sizes are pretty good so def that is why they get more stars. They also have plenty on tap to drink so hurrah to that as well. It's basically seat yourself as well. I reccomend sitting in the back since the front half does get pretty loud and rowdy sometimes. The ppl here seem to genuinely be nice. We tried the Banshee Bar and Restaurant for lunch yesterday. This is the first time we had been there. Very laid back, brew pub atmosphere with a full bar. Walking through the bar area we found an open table in the back of the restaurant. A server spotted us and quickly provided menus and took our drink orders - Bulleit Rye for me and a Chardonnay for the lady. We decided to share some things. Duck Fat French Fries, A Chopped Salad and Pho. The food arrived quickly, and everything was good. The soup was particularly nice. The meat (beef) was tender and flavorful and the rice noodles were not sticky or over cooked. It was seasoned to provide a full palate experience backed up with just the right amount of heat., Prices were on the low side .... in my opinion .... for what you received in return. read more

My roommates introduced me to this place when I first moved to Chico, CA. They have more of a causal bar vibe than restaurant vibe. So honestly, I wasn't expecting much in term of food quality. To my surprised, every time i've been back to try something new I've been pleasantly amazed with their quality of food. Food: Pho - Ok. This was the weirdest thing I've seen at an american bar type restaurant. But I was like what the heck? Let's try it! Man it was soooo good! They put chili oil in the soup so it gives it a really nice kick. The beef/toppings were standard. Duck Fat Fries - Oh so good! Crispy yet soft and cooked to perfection. Seasoning was on point! Cobb Salad - Standard cobb salad with fresh greens that I like to smothered in dressing. Burgers - Their burgers patties are just a tad overdone and greasy for my liking, but it was still really good. I actually liked my burger better after it was sitting in my fridge overnight. This bar in downtown Chico is a hidden gem, it may be small, but it is always full of customers and they have multiple beers and cocktails. They have surprisingly very good bar food, the owner was once featured on Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives." The bah-mi sandwich and fish tacos/pork tacos are amazing! Hey Y'all, just found myself at the banshee this past weekend. After much researching the yelp comments... decided to get the mac n cheese becuz multiple people said it was their favorite, I added jalapenos to it for some spice. it was a huge portion which was great but i found myself missing the amazing-ness everyone was raving about. I also found the noodles they chose to be quite weird for a mac n cheese. My hubby got a burger that he didnt particularly like, and when she asked for something else the waiter gave him attitude which rubbed us both the wrong way. I've missed going to the Banshee the most out of every restaurant in Chico during the pandemic. I've tried most every item on their menu, and I'm consistently blown away by the superior Gastropubbiness of it all. I used to say the Sierra Nevada Taproom burger was best in Chico, but that was before I was sucker punched back to reality by the Banshee burger. It is just... incredibly bad for your health, which is inversely related to how mind boggling it is that it is somehow legal for ground beef to assault your tongue like a prison guard having their way with convicts. Their pho is (technical jargon incoming) super duper yummy yum yum. I usually allow the turkey club to do whatever it wants to me (ah the era of consent). The fish tacos are like two or three old friends you haven't seen in a long time; delicious (not sure if that's appropriate). Good beer too. read more
