A true Chico staple and best breakfast in town! Everything is fresh with a small but mighty vegan menu. Drinks are awesome and they have a back bar with lots of seating to enjoying drinks while you wait which makes the wait time feel so much shorter. We are always greeted by Summer's kindness and warm smile and if we are lucky enough we are seater and served by Milo inside or Owen outside; these guys remember my order every time no matter how complicated. My only suggestion is to get an additional espresso machine at the outside bar. They do have coffee but with espresso you could basically have a coffee shop outside for even more revenue. I live in that neighborhood and prefer not to wonder downtown or to Dutch Bros and would literally just come by for the maple latte even if I was not eating there. Just a thought! read more

Really wish Café Coda had an online wait system. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes, though their cute outdoor area made the time pass pleasantly enough, even with inclement weather. The lattes are solid: rich, not watered down. My Café Ibarra was decadent but still balanced, not overly sweet or heavy. The pork belly breakfast sandwich was the standout: actual pork belly (not just thick-cut bacon), beautifully seasoned and softer than Billie Eilish's voice. The lemon ricotta on the blueberry French toast could've leaned more lemon-forward for my taste, but as a lemon gremlin (lemlin?) I might be in the minority here. The chilaquiles were another highlight--great corn flavor in the tortillas, punchy seasoning in every bite, and a nice kick from the habanero sauce on the table. The place is super nice and the people are very friendly. I went on a Sunday morning right when they opened with some friends. We got the outside seating because it was such a nice day outside. I ordered some french toast with some eggs and just a regular black coffee. My friends got a burrito and eggs benedict. All was very good and tasty. To top it all off, they had a nice little playroom with a pool table and a couple arcade games. This topped off the breakfast and just made the experience so fun. Realized I haven't reviewed this delish brunch spot, so today fixes that! Coda is a place for tasty food and strong coffee. Love that you can get a French press coffee in its own carafe. Today, I ordered the wise guy. Love the herbs and green onions with the steamed rice. The pork belly was tender with a sweet glaze on it. The soy/spicy peppers were a great addition. Hubs had his favorite lemon poppyseed pancakes. They were very lemony and the berry compote was better than syrup in my opinion! I absolutely love this place. I thought I put a review here for this restaurant but I guess I did not. My apologies. My wife brought me here to celebrate a huge accomplishment in my educational journey. We were happily greeted by wonderful service, a calm but active environment (everyone at different tables engaged in conversation), and the feeling that it was simply a good place to be. The menu was easy to read and anything we had questions on were answered by the person giving service. To this day, Café coda has the best chai latte I've ever had. It was warm, with just the right amount of sweetness and spices. Hands-down the best. The food came out warm and ready to eat. I cannot remember if we left with any leftovers because the food was so good and it was just nice to be able to be away for a little bit to enjoy time with my wife and celebration. Another cool feature that they had was a map in one of their back rooms to show where people were coming from that were visiting the area. Super cool place, great food, amazing service and as the kids say, "a vibe". Be sure to pay attention when you are driving to this restaurant because it can be easy to miss. Parking is available all along the streets but I believe they also have a parking lot which is not too far from their outdoor seating. We found parking just across the street which again was not too far. Definitely enjoy this place and will be visiting again very soon. read more

In Chico, this is a great place for breakfast, lunch or to just a grab a healthy "shot " or a fantastic espresso coffee! The chicken sandwich with chimichurri was outstanding on the softest focaccia bread I've tasted in a long time! The fat boy breakfast makes you feel like you might be a "fat boy" in the serving size but you keep wanting to eat it all the way to the end. I've been wanting to try this place and finally got the opportunity to do so, this place is hopping, even on a random Thursday mid-late morning. They have plenty of seating to wait and can seat you inside or out. The service is excellent, my host was lovely as well as my server, and checked on me frequently (but not too frequent or pushy), and helped me make decisions on their menu, which all sounds amazing. He HIGHLY suggested the shot (turmeric, ginger, citrus, cayenne and I'm missing something) which I had zero interest in, but turned out to really be quite good!!! I also had the honey lavender latte, LOVE. Thank you for someone doing this right in Chico! I just had to try the Coda Benedict with pork belly instead of ham. Had an awesome bfast experience up in Chico this past weekend. I received a few recommendations from a local and went with this one. This place definitely exceeded all my expectations. We had a party of 5 and were seated in about ten minutes on a Saturday morning which didn't seem too bad. We were brought to a table outside which had some heaters available thankfully. The waiter was incredible helpful and provided some recommendations. Some of the selections our group went with were the full boat (small pancakes were anything but that and very tasty), breakfast sandwich with pork belly (definitely the protein of choice) and the chilaquiles (the highlight of the table). I don't think you can really go wrong with anything on their menu. I'll be back in a couple weeks to try some more of their options! read more

TLDR; amazing Coda Benedict, great service Lavender green tea lemonade: a punch of lavender flavor in the beginning but after first sip I could only taste the lemon. A refreshing drink nonetheless. Coda Benedict: when ordering, you get a choice of ham bacon or avocado, I chose bacon, it has the bacon flavor, it wasnt as soft as I wanted it, but it also wasnt super crunchy. It was a 50/50 of both soft and crunchy. If you like bacon, then get it, they cook it well. Potatos have perfect crunch to it like a lays chip while still having a lot of the potato starch mixing the different textures and flavor. Eggs cooked to perfection, honestly, the eggs look beautiful, the yolk just oozes out, toast is also crisp but gets soggy quickly with the egg. Tomato looks good but I couldnt really taste it or the spinach with that luscious sauce. Blueberry Ricotta French Toast: its 16$ if you order 2 slices. When ordering, the waiter asked if I wanted 1 or 2 slices, he said 1 slice was 8$. I guess it was actually 1$ more than his guess cause mine costed 9$. Honestly if your stomach is as small as mine, 1 should be perfectly fine. I couldnt even finish half of it and I still had potatoes left from my coda benedict. For the actual review, I love the blueberry sauce, it was probably the highlight of the dish cause the ricotta was the most questionable ingredient. Ricotta gave me a gritty and slight sour feel for every bite. The toast was fluffy. Im a chewy guy, I wish there was more chew. It felt like a cake at times. The sides of the toast was a little tougher when it comes to cutting it tho so watch out. Also, they gave me warm syrup! I think its for the french toast. Cool bottle shape and the syrup was actually warm to the touch so thats cool. Extra: I went in the morning, still busy, waiting time around 15 min To get a seat, you just walk up to the register and the lady will ask a few questions and hand you those beeping doo hickys and you just wait outside or the waiting room until it beeps, you go back to them and they'll escort you the designated table. What I like about the beginning is, usually right after being seated they'll immediately ask you if you need anything, but here, you basically get everything you need instantly and they go off without any questions. I like this cause in the beginning there isnt much you need besides water, menu, napkins and utensils. Which should all be default anyways. Good service, everyone was busy but were all very helpful. Theres always someone whos on the watch at the front desk, if you just go over there for a question, you wont need to wait long for someone to respond I love the waiter, I had the outside table so idk if he's there for the other tables but the guy was super nice and has lots of personality. He's also always around so if you ever need to call him ul, he's there. I really love this place as a first time customer, they cooked that eggs benedict perfectly, like really, most home fries Ive had usually never have this level of crisp to it. The hot pepper condiment was HOT and made my forehead sweat but it was tasty!!! Probably the best savory thing you could order. The pork belly has so much flavor and the rice is cooked very well. There isn't much to the dish, but everything in it is done well. Chilaquiles: Large portion and tasted great! Good ratio of everything from potatoes to beans to the eggs. Maple Nutmeg coffee: A delicious choice for fall.
