decided to stop by Cafe Coda for the first time! it's more of a casual brunch spot where you can sit anywhere, we sat inside but the outside of the area looked super nice!!! it seemed to be run by younger people who were all super sweet and great at serving. our waitress was the sweetest! ordered a strawberry matcha, it had a great strawberry flavor but no matcha flavor. the more i mixed the color disappeared and it was slightly disappointing since it was $9. i asked the waitress about it and she said it was grade matcha but honestly i don't think it was. the nutella french toast BOMB!!!!! so glad we ordered it and the syrup came in a cute sprite bottle. it was more of a watery syrup but not overly sweet. the benedict was super light and refreshing and i loved the parmesan focaccia bread. the chilaquiles were okay, i felt that the flavors were all mixed up but overall great brunch spot! will be back but definitely skipping my the matcha read more

Cafe Coda was so good that my husband and I visited two days in a row during our stay in Chico! The Blueberry Ricotta French Toast was, without a doubt, the best French toast I have ever had. It was absolutely out of this world--beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced, and incredibly delicious. Everything we ordered was wonderful, but that French toast alone is worth coming back for. The staff was also exceptionally kind, friendly, and welcoming, making each visit feel special. Great ambiance, clean bathroom, great food, easy parking. Good for groups! For the breakfast specials, you are able to get half sizes for most dishes which are generously portioned. A bit overpriced but nice for a Saturday morning brunch! $8 for coffees and $20+ for all the dishes - you won't make it out of there for less than $35 per person which is a bit wild for Chico. I ordered the Train and I'm glad I spiced up the French toast that comes with it - the maple bacon French toast was pretty tasty. I don't know that this will be my go-to brunch spot since the food did not wow me, but I would like to check it out in the evening! read more

Really wish Café Coda had an online wait system. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes, though their cute outdoor area made the time pass pleasantly enough, even with inclement weather. The lattes are solid: rich, not watered down. My Café Ibarra was decadent but still balanced, not overly sweet or heavy. The pork belly breakfast sandwich was the standout: actual pork belly (not just thick-cut bacon), beautifully seasoned and softer than Billie Eilish's voice. The lemon ricotta on the blueberry French toast could've leaned more lemon-forward for my taste, but as a lemon gremlin (lemlin?) I might be in the minority here. The chilaquiles were another highlight--great corn flavor in the tortillas, punchy seasoning in every bite, and a nice kick from the habanero sauce on the table. Delicious sausage and eggs cooked to spec on the full boat. One black coffee was missed in the initial order but brought out immediately when flagged. read more

Main problem I have here is the unfriendly customer service. No hello when you walk in, you get stared at and then addressed as if you're an annoyance or they're weirded out you're there for brunch. I have come here at least ten times and that's the way it is every single time. Other than that, I love the back patio to eat, the food is okay, I have had good items and mediocre items. Really enjoyed our stop at Cafe Coda. We brought our 13 week puppy with us and enjoyed the patio seating. This place has a beautiful back open area where you can chill and relax. The food was great and the drinks were tasty. The service was very friendly and took out specified orders with ease. We waited about 40 minutes for Sunday brunch. The place is super nice and the people are very friendly. I went on a Sunday morning right when they opened with some friends. We got the outside seating because it was such a nice day outside. I ordered some french toast with some eggs and just a regular black coffee. My friends got a burrito and eggs benedict. All was very good and tasty. To top it all off, they had a nice little playroom with a pool table and a couple arcade games. This topped off the breakfast and just made the experience so fun. Don't judge a book by its cover and don't judge a cafe from a parking spot! Cafe Coda is such a fun place! Meander through the building with its several cozy sitting and conversation spots which you might need on a cold day, then end up out on the patio which is wonderful! There's a huge outdoor area beyond that for other events and parties as well. The coffee was delicious, food amazing and the service was quick. We also sat at our table for quite some time and enjoyed the beautiful weather, not feeling as though anyone wanted to rush us out. Realized I haven't reviewed this delish brunch spot, so today fixes that! Coda is a place for tasty food and strong coffee. Love that you can get a French press coffee in its own carafe. Today, I ordered the wise guy. Love the herbs and green onions with the steamed rice. The pork belly was tender with a sweet glaze on it. The soy/spicy peppers were a great addition. Hubs had his favorite lemon poppyseed pancakes. They were very lemony and the berry compote was better than syrup in my opinion! A true Chico staple and best breakfast in town! Everything is fresh with a small but mighty vegan menu. Drinks are awesome and they have a back bar with lots of seating to enjoying drinks while you wait which makes the wait time feel so much shorter. We are always greeted by Summer's kindness and warm smile and if we are lucky enough we are seater and served by Milo inside or Owen outside; these guys remember my order every time no matter how complicated. My only suggestion is to get an additional espresso machine at the outside bar. They do have coffee but with espresso you could basically have a coffee shop outside for even more revenue. I live in that neighborhood and prefer not to wonder downtown or to Dutch Bros and would literally just come by for the maple latte even if I was not eating there. Just a thought! read more

I absolutely love this place. I thought I put a review here for this restaurant but I guess I did not. My apologies. My wife brought me here to celebrate a huge accomplishment in my educational journey. We were happily greeted by wonderful service, a calm but active environment (everyone at different tables engaged in conversation), and the feeling that it was simply a good place to be. The menu was easy to read and anything we had questions on were answered by the person giving service. To this day, Café coda has the best chai latte I've ever had. It was warm, with just the right amount of sweetness and spices. Hands-down the best. The food came out warm and ready to eat. I cannot remember if we left with any leftovers because the food was so good and it was just nice to be able to be away for a little bit to enjoy time with my wife and celebration. Another cool feature that they had was a map in one of their back rooms to show where people were coming from that were visiting the area. Super cool place, great food, amazing service and as the kids say, "a vibe". Be sure to pay attention when you are driving to this restaurant because it can be easy to miss. Parking is available all along the streets but I believe they also have a parking lot which is not too far from their outdoor seating. We found parking just across the street which again was not too far. Definitely enjoy this place and will be visiting again very soon. read more

I received several local recommendations for this place and decided to give it a try. Finding street parking was easy. We visited on an early Saturday afternoon, and while the place was bustling, the wait was surprisingly short. They took our name and gave us a buzzer to alert us when our table was ready. For our meal, we chose the Coda Benedict and the Chimichurri Chicken Sandwich. I've been wanting to try this place and finally got the opportunity to do so, this place is hopping, even on a random Thursday mid-late morning. They have plenty of seating to wait and can seat you inside or out. The service is excellent, my host was lovely as well as my server, and checked on me frequently (but not too frequent or pushy), and helped me make decisions on their menu, which all sounds amazing. He HIGHLY suggested the shot (turmeric, ginger, citrus, cayenne and I'm missing something) which I had zero interest in, but turned out to really be quite good!!! I also had the honey lavender latte, LOVE. Thank you for someone doing this right in Chico! I just had to try the Coda Benedict with pork belly instead of ham. They do have long waits to get seated but they have a beer garden in the back where you can order drinks while sitting and waiting. We sat outdoors and they had fans blowing but it was still super hot - if in the heat I'd recommend getting indoor seating! Had an awesome bfast experience up in Chico this past weekend. I received a few recommendations from a local and went with this one. This place definitely exceeded all my expectations. We had a party of 5 and were seated in about ten minutes on a Saturday morning which didn't seem too bad. We were brought to a table outside which had some heaters available thankfully. The waiter was incredible helpful and provided some recommendations. Some of the selections our group went with were the full boat (small pancakes were anything but that and very tasty), breakfast sandwich with pork belly (definitely the protein of choice) and the chilaquiles (the highlight of the table). Some of the best food I've eaten. The onion rings are perfect, not like the ones you get that batter falls off , plus the sauce is divine. My tacos were incredible , best fish tacos.. Coda is about as good as it gets. We come here whenever we see my daughter that lives in Chico. It is the A train for me with french toast. It is how all mornings should start.
