BEST Breakfast in Chico!!! While the food is impressively delicious the real gem here is the staff. Attentive, kind, friendly and some how laid back. This is top down. The space is beautiful. Especially the back patio. Just a few of the items we've fallen in love with... *Honey, lavender latte *Black and black *Brioche French toast *Coda Benedict *Smoked sausage hash Thank you Cafe Coda read more

came here with no reservations but it was about 30 min wait. first time here, so i lwarn to go outside and grab a drink while you wait. it was perfect because the weather was good and enough shade. bottle of champagne plus tax n tip about $30. i really recommend because thats about 4 cups in itself. hashbrown are good here super crispy. its hard nowadays to even find hash. usually its diced potatoes. all in all i love the low key vibe and the staff is very nice! they are really busy and i see why. read more

decided to stop by Cafe Coda for the first time! it's more of a casual brunch spot where you can sit anywhere, we sat inside but the outside of the area looked super nice!!! it seemed to be run by younger people who were all super sweet and great at serving. our waitress was the sweetest! ordered a strawberry matcha, it had a great strawberry flavor but no matcha flavor. the more i mixed the color disappeared and it was slightly disappointing since it was $9. i asked the waitress about it and she said it was grade matcha but honestly i don't think it was. the nutella french toast BOMB!!!!! so glad we ordered it and the syrup came in a cute sprite bottle. it was more of a watery syrup but not overly sweet. the benedict was super light and refreshing and i loved the parmesan focaccia bread. the chilaquiles were okay, i felt that the flavors were all mixed up but overall great brunch spot! will be back but definitely skipping my the matcha read more

Great ambiance, clean bathroom, great food, easy parking. Good for groups! For the breakfast specials, you are able to get half sizes for most dishes which are generously portioned. Food did take longer to come out so don't come on a time crunch, food was very fresh and delicious! I love coming to this spot for brunch with friends and highly recommend read more

A bit overpriced but nice for a Saturday morning brunch! $8 for coffees and $20+ for all the dishes - you won't make it out of there for less than $35 per person which is a bit wild for Chico. I ordered the Train and I'm glad I spiced up the French toast that comes with it - the maple bacon French toast was pretty tasty. I don't know that this will be my go-to brunch spot since the food did not wow me, but I would like to check it out in the evening! read more

Really wish Café Coda had an online wait system. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes, though their cute outdoor area made the time pass pleasantly enough, even with inclement weather. The lattes are solid: rich, not watered down. My Café Ibarra was decadent but still balanced, not overly sweet or heavy. The pork belly breakfast sandwich was the standout: actual pork belly (not just thick-cut bacon), beautifully seasoned and softer than Billie Eilish's voice. The lemon ricotta on the blueberry French toast could've leaned more lemon-forward for my taste, but as a lemon gremlin (lemlin?) I might be in the minority here. The chilaquiles were another highlight--great corn flavor in the tortillas, punchy seasoning in every bite, and a nice kick from the habanero sauce on the table. Delicious sausage and eggs cooked to spec on the full boat. One black coffee was missed in the initial order but brought out immediately when flagged. read more

Pros: Super nice staff who are willing to do custom orders such as smaller portions (not listed on the menu). The price for food is good considering the larger portion sizes. The location does a great job of curating a hip vibe/atmosphere. In the front there's a bar with cozy tables. In the back, there's a cantina, portable heaters, and bigger tables making the outdoor dinning experience refreshing. Cons: The flavors of the food are underwhelming. Who is this for? Someone looking for a decent brunch spot with great vibes and good drinks. read more

Food was amazing! Service was great. Besides the all the anti American monger loiterers it was great!

Main problem I have here is the unfriendly customer service. No hello when you walk in, you get stared at and then addressed as if you're an annoyance or they're weirded out you're there for brunch. I have come here at least ten times and that's the way it is every single time. Other than that, I love the back patio to eat, the food is okay, I have had good items and mediocre items. The drinks are delicious, the coffees and mimosas. The servers themselves are fine, but that initial greeting when you come through the door and are being sat seriously needs a tune up. read more

I had the French toast. There was virtually no eggie on the brread. Dry and no taste

Cafe Coda was so good that my husband and I visited two days in a row during our stay in Chico! The Blueberry Ricotta French Toast was, without a doubt, the best French toast I have ever had. It was absolutely out of this world--beautifully prepared, perfectly balanced, and incredibly delicious. Everything we ordered was wonderful, but that French toast alone is worth coming back for. The staff was also exceptionally kind, friendly, and welcoming, making each visit feel special. As we prepare to relocate to the area, Cafe Coda has already earned a place on our list of favorite local spots. We can't wait to return. Highly recommended! read more

Really enjoyed our stop at Cafe Coda. We brought our 13 week puppy with us and enjoyed the patio seating. This place has a beautiful back open area where you can chill and relax. The food was great and the drinks were tasty. The service was very friendly and took out specified orders with ease. We waited about 40 minutes for Sunday brunch. It was well worth it and the backyard waiting area made it an easy wait. read more

The place is super nice and the people are very friendly. I went on a Sunday morning right when they opened with some friends. We got the outside seating because it was such a nice day outside. I ordered some french toast with some eggs and just a regular black coffee. My friends got a burrito and eggs benedict. All was very good and tasty. To top it all off, they had a nice little playroom with a pool table and a couple arcade games. This topped off the breakfast and just made the experience so fun. The experience and fun activities make this a great place to go with some friends for a nice breakfast meetup. Will definitely be going again. read more

I came for a casual breakfast. I left in a committed relationship with the Wise Guy, don't tell my therapist. That pork belly? Tender like it listened to Sade all morning. The rice? Fluffier than my emotional support dog. I got a bite of my daughter's boyfriend's Chilaquiles was like a Latin soap opera in my mouth: spicy, dramatic, and oddly healing- he even ate the black beans. The bite of my daughter's chimichurri chicken sandwich whispered sweet herby nothings with every flavor. I considered eloping with it to a quiet cabin in the Redwoods with Cafe Coda, you didn't have to go this hard, but I'm so glad you did. read more

Realized I haven't reviewed this delish brunch spot, so today fixes that! Coda is a place for tasty food and strong coffee. Love that you can get a French press coffee in its own carafe. Today, I ordered the wise guy. Love the herbs and green onions with the steamed rice. The pork belly was tender with a sweet glaze on it. The soy/spicy peppers were a great addition. Hubs had his favorite lemon poppyseed pancakes. They were very lemony and the berry compote was better than syrup in my opinion! Love that there is inside and outside seating and the beer garden area is a relaxing place to wait. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover and don't judge a cafe from a parking spot! Cafe Coda is such a fun place! Meander through the building with its several cozy sitting and conversation spots which you might need on a cold day, then end up out on the patio which is wonderful! There's a huge outdoor area beyond that for other events and parties as well. The coffee was delicious, food amazing and the service was quick. We also sat at our table for quite some time and enjoyed the beautiful weather, not feeling as though anyone wanted to rush us out. I will definitely come back to this spot on future Chico trips! read more

Great food, lots of choices on the menu for everyone, We come to this place on the reg when we're in Chico

A true Chico staple and best breakfast in town! Everything is fresh with a small but mighty vegan menu. Drinks are awesome and they have a back bar with lots of seating to enjoying drinks while you wait which makes the wait time feel so much shorter. We are always greeted by Summer's kindness and warm smile and if we are lucky enough we are seater and served by Milo inside or Owen outside; these guys remember my order every time no matter how complicated. My only suggestion is to get an additional espresso machine at the outside bar. They do have coffee but with espresso you could basically have a coffee shop outside for even more revenue. I live in that neighborhood and prefer not to wonder downtown or to Dutch Bros and would literally just come by for the maple latte even if I was not eating there. Just a thought! read more

In Chico, this is a great place for breakfast, lunch or to just a grab a healthy "shot " or a fantastic espresso coffee! The chicken sandwich with chimichurri was outstanding on the softest focaccia bread I've tasted in a long time! The fat boy breakfast makes you feel like you might be a "fat boy" in the serving size but you keep wanting to eat it all the way to the end. Great service by Owen and a wonderful place to start off your day! read more

I received several local recommendations for this place and decided to give it a try. Finding street parking was easy. We visited on an early Saturday afternoon, and while the place was bustling, the wait was surprisingly short. They took our name and gave us a buzzer to alert us when our table was ready. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We started with two drinks: the Space Oddity and the Aloha from Hawaii. Both were delicious! For our meal, we chose the Coda Benedict and the Chimichurri Chicken Sandwich. The Coda Benedict was particularly delightful, featuring parmesan focaccia bread instead of English muffins, which added a unique twist. The Chimichurri Chicken Sandwich served with a side of tomato soup, was also very tasty. Portions were large and in charge! The service was top-notch, with everyone being exceptionally kind. Highly recommend this place! read more

I absolutely love this place. I thought I put a review here for this restaurant but I guess I did not. My apologies. My wife brought me here to celebrate a huge accomplishment in my educational journey. We were happily greeted by wonderful service, a calm but active environment (everyone at different tables engaged in conversation), and the feeling that it was simply a good place to be. The menu was easy to read and anything we had questions on were answered by the person giving service. To this day, Café coda has the best chai latte I've ever had. It was warm, with just the right amount of sweetness and spices. Hands-down the best. The food came out warm and ready to eat. I cannot remember if we left with any leftovers because the food was so good and it was just nice to be able to be away for a little bit to enjoy time with my wife and celebration. Another cool feature that they had was a map in one of their back rooms to show where people were coming from that were visiting the area. Super cool place, great food, amazing service and as the kids say, "a vibe". Be sure to pay attention when you are driving to this restaurant because it can be easy to miss. Parking is available all along the streets but I believe they also have a parking lot which is not too far from their outdoor seating. We found parking just across the street which again was not too far. Definitely enjoy this place and will be visiting again very soon. read more

A Chico classic but the prices have gotten ridiculous. $23 for scrambled eggs and an English muffin? Just not worth it. The place is busy so | guess they're doing something right but for three of us with coffees and a tip almost $100.. I mean the food is not spectacular, nor the portions generous. It's just OK stuff that I could scramble at home. read more

Pros: Service was really good, waiter was witty, talking French; The arcade area was cool. Cons:The wait was over an hour; The bacon was McDonalds quality. They really should get a new bacon distributor; a bit pricey for brunch. read more

Food and ambiance were great! It seems like this place is always busy but we were able to be seated within 20 minutes for a Sunday brunch, which isn't bad. New to us, and we will definitely be back! Good food, nice quiet atmosphere, great service!

I've been wanting to try this place and finally got the opportunity to do so, this place is hopping, even on a random Thursday mid-late morning. They have plenty of seating to wait and can seat you inside or out. The service is excellent, my host was lovely as well as my server, and checked on me frequently (but not too frequent or pushy), and helped me make decisions on their menu, which all sounds amazing. He HIGHLY suggested the shot (turmeric, ginger, citrus, cayenne and I'm missing something) which I had zero interest in, but turned out to really be quite good!!! I also had the honey lavender latte, LOVE. Thank you for someone doing this right in Chico! I just had to try the Coda Benedict with pork belly instead of ham. Other than needing to add a little bit of salt, this was excellent. And I live for potatoes so I was very excited to eat those crispy delicious potatoes. Will definitely be back!! read more

I come here all the time and the service and food is usually amazing but today, the day I decided to bring my mom we were told it would be a 25 minute wait, we got here before 3 other different parties (of also two people) we were never sat even after 40 minutes and the other three parties were sat before us and served. I would not like to believe that this is a race thing but it sure did feel like it. Shoutout to the host for just ruining the overall experience. read more

Great ambiance and service. They have their own lot in the back with plenty of parking. They do have long waits to get seated but they have a beer garden in the back where you can order drinks while sitting and waiting. We sat outdoors and they had fans blowing but it was still super hot - if in the heat I'd recommend getting indoor seating! Food portions were huge and hearty, decently priced for the quantity of food you get. read more

Had an awesome bfast experience up in Chico this past weekend. I received a few recommendations from a local and went with this one. This place definitely exceeded all my expectations. We had a party of 5 and were seated in about ten minutes on a Saturday morning which didn't seem too bad. We were brought to a table outside which had some heaters available thankfully. The waiter was incredible helpful and provided some recommendations. Some of the selections our group went with were the full boat (small pancakes were anything but that and very tasty), breakfast sandwich with pork belly (definitely the protein of choice) and the chilaquiles (the highlight of the table). I don't think you can really go wrong with anything on their menu. I'll be back in a couple weeks to try some more of their options! read more

Best breakfast option in Chico ca. simple but high quality ingredient breakfasts with good cafe drinks. I get straight coffee but daughter and wife started coming for their fancier coffees. Breakfast is go to when visiting daughter. Have had a few savory and sweet dishes, both hit the mark. Strong recommendation. Sat outside in patio in back, bit hesitant but space heaters made that a solid second choice of wait is too long on cold days. Nice days I would prefer. read more

Be prepared to drop some MONEY! The experience was okay. Nothing special. The service was fair, at best. The menu is small, and then there are 2 or 3 other little menus with different items. It was all a bit confusing. One restaurant, one menu. Perhaps a second one with specials. But not a third one for drinks and a fourth for desserts, and then one for shakes??? There are limited options so we made our choices rather easily. My bestie asked for a side of ham and that was extra. Okay, that makes sense. When our food arrived my bestie's dish had way more hollandaise than did mine. Getting a tiny tiny little cup of extra sauce was again a $4 additional fee. I am NOT a cheap person but our bill was close to $60! And we only drank water! At $25-30 per plate this is simply not an experience I wish to repeat. read more

Coda is about as good as it gets. We come here whenever we see my daughter that lives in Chico. It is the A train for me with french toast. It is how all mornings should start.
