Wow wow wow - the breakfast at Deja Vu is such a level up from your typical breakfast haunts. I visit Chico a few times a year and I just love coming here. I truly look forward to it; their menu is thoughtful with lots of creative takes on typical breakfast fare and super fresh food with quality ingredients. I had the Strawberry French Toast and it's made with fresh baked artisan bread and the fruit tastes like it was picked from a garden. The service staff treat you like family and it really just feels like being invited to hang out for breakfast at a friends house--- that is, if your friend was an award winning chef. If anywhere within an hour of this place, make the effort and you won't be disappointed. Super good.

You can't talk about breakfast in Chico without bringing up Deja Vu! And up until this past weekend, I hadn't had to chance to experience it firsthand. I will say, I drive by often and it's always packed on weekend mornings... that's a good sign, right? Their menu is nowhere to be found online, so I only had an idea of what we were in store for based on Google and Yelp photos. We went on a Sunday morning around 10am, and waited about 15-20 mins for a table. Once sat, we were greeted promptly and continued to have impeccable service throughout the meal. If I could describe the menu generally, I'd say it's elevated takes on breakfast standards with an almost dessert-like twist... i.e. cookies & cream and cinnabun pancakes. I kept it standard by creating my own breakfast plate: 2 eggs, potatoes, and choices of meat and toast. The potatoes were phenomenal! I was surprised to receive 3 slices of bacon but only 1 slice of toast. I would've much rather had 2 and 2, and almost wondered if it was a mistake. I also would've loved if sugar/splenda was on the table, or automatically brought out if you order coffee. It was one more thing we had to ask for. It seems I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast, so Deja Vu probably won't be in my regular rotation... but I can certainly see why they stay busy!

This was my second time here and will definitely come back next time in town. Gems are to be cherished. Started with great, friendly service. We were a party of 5 and had the Carnitas breakfast, French Toast, and specialty waffle, which was a cinnamon crunch waffle with homemade granola in the batter. This was the absolute best waffle I've ever had. Sooooo good.

Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at this place with our family. Plenty of places to sit. Great food and service. We will be back when we come to visit Chico

Our waitress was absolutely the best. As First time visitors, she recommended dishes and made it so we could mix and match to try more noms! Food was so delicious. Biscuits and gravy were so good. But the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes were A+.

    Beautiful decor!

Beautiful, down to earth, bougie place for upscale delicious food. The sausage gravy is addictive! My omelette was overfilled with ham and veggies...and they did not mind a custom addition of spinach. The service was quick, friendly but not intrusive! Beautiful decor and easy to find on Esplanade! Delicious lunch, breakfast and brunch options!

Great breakfast. Lots of items that other spots don't do. Can get busy at times so make sure to show up early to get a spot. It's worth it.

Service was fantastic, staff was incredibly friendly and brought our drinks to us outside. I had meant for this to be a pit stop for coffee but the outdoor patio was so nice, we ended up sitting in the shade with the pups and taking our time before our looong drive back to SoCal. Black coffee. The beans were from Kenya, which is not my partner's bean country of choice but he said the coffee was good anyway. Oat milk latte. My incredibly particular mom said this was the best latte she's ever had. Dad and I were shook. Iced cinnabon oat milk latte. Surprisingly balanced. Cinnamon forward, which I like, but not overbearing. Lighter on the maple flavor, which I'm grateful for, as maple can get real heavy, real quick for me. Carrot zucchini bread. This was slightly flour-y to my palette, but overall, not bad. Moist, and not too sweet.

Might be difficult to navigate for those with mobility issues, though. It seems to be a popular spot with both young and old patrons. There's an area at the back with what looked like art supplies and things to keep folks entertained. Parking is semi-tight right outside but it's doable even with a midsize SUV. I got there around noon on a Wednesday and it was a little busy but I was the only one in line for about 5 minutes before I ordered and while I ordered. It took a little longer than I expected to get the wrap I ordered, but I didn't mind. The Smokin' Veggie wrap was VERY good, especially when I added some hot sauce (they have several options by the water station at the back)! And it was a great portion, too! I only ate half there and ate the other half later for a late lunch part 2. I had hoped to get a pastry, but I was a bit disappointed with the pastry selection -- it seemed to mostly be muffins and croissants from Costco and Safeway or something. I didn't get a drink this time, but maybe next time. But the wrap was delish! Thanks!

I scoured the menu and was excited to find so many hash choices. I was moved by the Irish Burrito, but ordered Linda's omelette; while my daughter went with the eggs Benedict. In a town that takes its breakfast seriously, and where I've probably worked my way through more menus and reviews than I should admit, this one quietly climbed right to the top of my list. My omelette was exactly what you want when you order one. Fluffy without being dry, full of flavor without trying too hard, and cooked like someone in the kitchen actually cares about eggs. The ingredients were balanced and fresh, not just thrown together as filler. The hollandaise sauce was original, I couldn't find a lemon, cheese or any other overwhelming base, it stood out. The hash was perfect. My daughter's eggs Benedict looked like a postcard version of what that dish should be. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise that didn't feel heavy, and ham that actually tasted like ham instead of just salt delivery. One of those plates where you steal a bite "just to try it" and immediately understand the decision. The real surprise for me was the potato pancake I picked instead of the usual hashbrowns. Light, airy inside, crispy outside, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. If potatoes had a hall of fame, this one would at least get a nomination. The place itself has a warm, comfortable feel. Wood tones, rooster themes everywhere, a relaxed local energy where people look like regulars and first-timers feel welcome anyway. Service was friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. In a city full of strong breakfast spots, this might actually be my current favorite. That's not something I say lightly.
