I moved to Paradise in the summer of 2024, and for about a year and a half I could not find a coffee joint that was both convenient and a local enterprise I could feel good about supporting. I don't recall the first time I entered Lofi, because by the time they re-opened I had somehow already integrated the morning visit into my regular routine. I can't tell you about the individual drinks, because I've tried each and every combination the guys behind the counter have to offer, or near enough. I can tell you that Jared, Garret, and everyone else in the family involved with Lofi are some of the best people you could ask for to provide the kind of neighborhood center a town still in the throes of reconstruction like Paradise desperately needs. I am moving away from Paradise today, but I'll miss the times spent as (often) the very first customer of the day. Thank you Lofi!

I stood there for approximately 5-7 minutes without being acknowledged, greeted, or even told that someone would be with me shortly. Finally, I said, "Excuse me, is this still the line to order?" The employee, whose name I believe was Emil (or Amil), very coldly responded, "Yeah, but as you can see, I'm busy," while he was working with one of the coffee machines. I told him that he could have simply said, "Good morning," or acknowledged me. Instead, he shrugged his shoulders and showed no concern whatsoever about how I had been treated. As a woman of color in an environment where everyone else appeared to be white, I found the experience extremely uncomfortable and felt unwelcome. I cannot speak to his intentions, but the way I was treated made me question whether I was being treated differently because of my race. It would have taken two seconds to say, "Good morning, we'll be right with you." Instead, I was ignored for several minutes and then spoken to in a dismissive and unapologetic manner. Customer service and basic courtesy should apply to everyone. Unfortunately, this was a very unpleasant first experience, and I will not be returning.

There's something so refreshing about the slow pace, the calm atmosphere, and the polite, mature customer service. You don't feel rushed. You feel welcomed. And the cinnamon rolls? Truly to die for. Warm, soft, perfectly sweet -- the kind that make you close your eyes on the first bite. The old-fashioned American decor only adds to the charm. That group comes regularly to the cafe, always getting preferential treatment, including reserved tables. We waited much longer than usual for our lunch to arrive. Meanwhile, they served the entire large group. One of our burgers was seriously undercooked, almost raw. Clearly, this restaurant cannot manage its preferred treatment of special guests (said to be the guru and entourage of the local Fellowship of Friends) and decent service for its other patrons.
