What an interesting place! Everywhere you look, there is something to see. I was taking pictures of nearly everything but the dining area, which had walls decorated with what looked like student artwork. Large space with lots of tables. I only came in for a latte, but seeing the pastries, went ahead and ordered a sticky bun. Staff was friendly and the barista took the time to make some foam art before putting a lid on it. It was our first time here but it won't be our last. We had their chocolate covered eclairs, a fusion of pastry combining light, airy choux pastry that's filled with a rich, custard cream, and then topped with dark chocolate. Their service is soooo slow every single time I go there, that's what I dread. Like slow slow. And the employees never greet/acknowledge you or tell you someone will be right with you or anything. One time I stood there five full minutes while an employee talked to a customer in casual conversation while he made his coffee, never acknowledged me once and nobody came out to help me, I walked out. Hands down no hesitation- The desserts have been perfected here. The vanilla cake is single handedly THEE best white cake I have ever had in my life. I tried the Mousse brownie - airy, moist, delicious Peach cobbler bar - fresh, creamy and delightful The menu I feel like they are trying too hard to pull the artisanal aspect into the food. Artisanal is not toss a bunch of random things together and attach a hefty price tag. That's for sure. I had the black bean soup. I loved the cilantro pesto. The soup was well seasoned, a little spicy. It was vegetarian but it was still missing something and I couldn't put my finger on it. This grilled cheese... that I ordered with turkey but it was prepared without costs $20. Made with foccia, three cheese (stingy portions might I add) and tomato. For $20 this cheese/ bread combo needs to have an impressive cheese pull. It did not. No pull at all. The bread was herbed and flavorful. Not worth $18-20 without sides and a beverage. The menu was too all over the place for me so I wouldn't eat the food again. But the dessert I would gladly come back for. I'm interested in a beverage as well. read more

I've been coming to Upper Crust Bakery for the past two years, and their pastries never disappoint. The lemon blueberry scone with glaze on top is hands-down one of my all-time favorites. Their breakfast quesadillas and sandwiches are awesome, especially with that spicy aioli--so good. The coffee is okay, in my humble opinion there is room for improvement on the quality of coffee, but the food shines. Service is always pleasant and friendly. Such a disappointment today. I happened to be in the area and was craving something sweet. Found a great parking spot right in front. This our 3rd time at Upper Crust. The coffee is terrific and the bakery is amazing. Great for our college kids. We did have a long wait for specialty coffees and flimsy plastic forks for pastries. It's not inexpensive so we think they could do better. Plus you bus your own table. read more

I have been coming here since I was a kid, so yeah about 35 years ago. It hasn't changed, except gotten a little better or so I can appreciate now as an adult. It is essentially a coffee shop with a great bakers as well as lunch items and wonderful things you can get to go! Coffee here is a good start they can make all the fancy stuff, lattes, Mexican Mocha's, options. The bakery part is great. People have been enjoying the croissants, I prefer the chocolate. The cookies are amazing and they have a new option called Lemon cookies that are to-die-for! I also am a fan of the snickerdoodle. Cake orders here are a good way to go if there are any special upcoming events. You can also just order a slice. The sandwiches are a good option. French style. Great bread. It can be busy sometimes on weekends but have to fear the line moves fast! The staff totally can handle the hustle and bustle. I love how they are always upbeat and FUN! Went for breakfast but just missed the kitchen service so I picked a small quiche from the display case. I felt like Prue from the British Bake-off show. The dough was stodgy, kinda raw on the sides and bottom and I couldn't eat it. I did my best to eat the filling. Pretty good flavors but you want a good flakey crust on a quiche. read more

wonderful pastries, both sweet and savory. almost everything is single serving -- croissant, roll, danish, muffin. you can get full pies and cheesecakes (I believe). the most amazing thing I just tried today was their Apple Cinnamon Roll. first off, a cinnamon roll is a "lay-up" for these guys... they do way more sophisticated stuff that beats anything anywhere else in the area. something about this cinnamon roll with apple compote added just did me in right! some times simple can surprise us. try the ham 'n' cheese croissant, an almond bear claw, a scone... haven't done them for soup or lunch items, but all their breakfast items are incred! one small jab: their coffees, lattes, espressos are great, but the drinks do come out slower than the food and snacks. with one drink slinger and the rest of the employees working counter and back of the house, I totally understand. bring your patience because it's well worth it and this Chico icon that has been around for decades earns every inch of a five star review. read more

I have been here several times and have noticed a few things that can be improved and a few things that are working well. The ham and swiss croissant is very good, with a buttery taste to it and melts in your mouth. I have heard good things about the coffee and am looking forward to trying the Mexican mocha. However, each time I come here to the tables, none of them have been wiped down or cleaned, with crumbs and food residue left over. Please make the environment more clean and hygienic for customers. Ordered a basic English muffin breakfast sandwich with ham and it took nearly an hour. Staff came over twice to ask what the order was , as it never went into the system. Soup of the day (potato) was so bland I was flooding it with hot sauce and adding salt and pepper. Macarons are very good in flavor and perfect level of sweetness but I do think they could use more of a crisp texture. There should be a little bite to them. read more

Love this place!! I come at least once a week, mainly for the pleasant ambience, but the exciting monthly soup calendar (they have a different soup every day of the month) and delicious turkey chili on Tuesday makes it such a fun experience. The bakery window is also wonderful. My favorite sweet treat is probably the apple tart, which is a perfect synergy of baked apple and shortbread. I decided to write my review today because I received such nice service from Tatum - she was quick, friendly, and gave me a great drink recommendation. When I asked about the sugar content, she checked it for me, and then made my drink with the modifications I requested.
