The worst service in Chico CA. We received our food with a hair, in it and the waitress smiled and offered to get us another plate. . The waitress then proceeded to bring back a dirty plate with cold food on it the second time. Then they all kind of sat in a circle, just smiling and thinking the whole situation was funny. The manager wouldn't come out and talk to us. Don't waste your money.

    All American platter with bacon.

Don't order the Benedict's. Wife ordered traditional and I had the Santa Barbara. All 4 poached eggs were hard.

Best part? My gluten-eating family who could have gone ANYWHERE also loved their meals. No pity plates. Everyone won. Our college student requests this place every single time we visit which tells you everything you need to know. They don't have a car, so we are essentially their personal Uber and we are okay with it as long as we end up here. A rare and beautiful thing.

The food is just nothing to write home about - I could make it myself without much effort, for a much lower price, and just better. It used to be worth it to come in every now and then because their prices were so low, but just like everywhere else now, the prices are high and not worth it. A rave: I got food poisoning recently, NOT at Morning Thunder, but they were a contender. When I called to let them know, they handled it extremely well. They were surprised but said they would look closely at everything to make sure everything was safe and sanitary. (And yes, I did call to let them know when I confirmed it was not them.)

I scoured the menu and was excited to find so many hash choices. I was moved by the Irish Burrito, but ordered Linda's omelette; while my daughter went with the eggs Benedict. In a town that takes its breakfast seriously, and where I've probably worked my way through more menus and reviews than I should admit, this one quietly climbed right to the top of my list. My omelette was exactly what you want when you order one. Fluffy without being dry, full of flavor without trying too hard, and cooked like someone in the kitchen actually cares about eggs. The ingredients were balanced and fresh, not just thrown together as filler. The hollandaise sauce was original, I couldn't find a lemon, cheese or any other overwhelming base, it stood out. The hash was perfect. My daughter's eggs Benedict looked like a postcard version of what that dish should be. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise that didn't feel heavy, and ham that actually tasted like ham instead of just salt delivery. One of those plates where you steal a bite "just to try it" and immediately understand the decision. The real surprise for me was the potato pancake I picked instead of the usual hashbrowns. Light, airy inside, crispy outside, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. If potatoes had a hall of fame, this one would at least get a nomination. The place itself has a warm, comfortable feel. Wood tones, rooster themes everywhere, a relaxed local energy where people look like regulars and first-timers feel welcome anyway. Service was friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. In a city full of strong breakfast spots, this might actually be my current favorite. That's not something I say lightly.

They have an extensive menu, and it is set up so you can choose your own adventure, and put together exactly what you want, but I ended up going for the Rib Eye special breakfast which ended up being a great choice! Chicken Fried Steak and their Omelettes also looked like they were very popular. They also offer great mimosa specials, and if you order three (for $13?) they will let you share them among multilpe people! Had a couple of great breakfasts here and loved the old school diner vibe - service was super friendly as well! Great spot!

Western burger - perfectly cooks the bacon was delicious and really the perfect amount of BBQ sauce! I was excited it had lettuce and tomato too. Came with a side salad and cup of chili and let me tell you! The chili is fire! Served super hot so don't burn your mouth but it is delicious. 12.99 Mom got the jacks classic burger on the senior menu and it came with a drink and fries or salad. She went with fries and added a cup of chili as well. The fries were perfect and absolutely wonderful when dipped in the chili! Didn't even need ketchup! Burger was well done as requested and a nice size - she got some mustard but didn't even add ketchup. 13 bucks I think! Honey had the three pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns and got bacon instead of sausage. Pancakes were perfect and he of course got the blackberry syrup which has just a simple wonderful flavor! If you are sitting with someone that has some chili grab a spoonful or two and add it to the hash brown and egg! Super tasty! 12.99 Great service both the waitress and manager were awesome and super attentive! Good conversation and smiles! The booths are comfortable and it's nice and warm which makes it nice when you are with people who always tend to be cold!! I fully support this place and love that they are still in business and have special hours! They aren't open late anymore and that's fine with me! Stop in and support locally owned long term businesses they deserve your support and are cheaper than a fast food meal!
