I wanted to like Country Waffles- I even wanted to have an adulterous relationship with it, however all I got was a fleeting awkward passing glance from a stranger who I pretty immediately decided I was better off without them screwing up my jammin' life, but upon further reflection it's more that I'm simply just not courageous enough to take all of the shots that I'll probably just miss because I'm a mediocre baller. I had a skillet type of breakfast on one occasion- I cannot be bothered to recall all of the principle ingredients. On another occasion, I had an eggs benedict that I can only describe as poached eggs that have been showered in dog cum. Yellow dog cum. It was a truly subjective experience, and being an honest fellow, I have to admit I kind of enjoyed the interaction between the dish and my larynx, much in a taboo sort of way where you correctly suspect that the majority of the population watches all of the incest section on Pornhub. I added 1 star to 5 stars because of the interesting benedict, but I ultimately subtracted 4 fours for a net total of 2 stars out of 5 because I was crop dusted by a rather pungent maître d'. The biscuits and gravy were not very warm and the potatoes were not cooked all the way and not very warm either. We only got one refill of coffee and water. It's a decent diner. Excellent price on side of eggs and bacon when you buy waffle. I had their pecan carmel (that's how it's spelt) banana waffle. The name was somewhat misleading because I thought it was pecan in caramel coating of sort. It was a really pecan and bananas on top, drizzled with caramel. We had such a great experience here. Amazing customer service makes all the difference. The manager was in today and as the waiter was sitting us he came and asked us if we would love to sit in a table booth instead. It was more private and more confortablr than the first table. Servers were walking back and forth asking if we needed more water or coffee. Its nice when your able to ask for something you need like extra napkins without waiting for over 5 minutes until someone walks by. My son and I got Swedish crepes and it was so yummy. We ate it all. I hate ordering and receiving such a big plate that I'm not able to finish it. I hate having to throw food away. Here their portions are just right. Chili was good. Needs a little help with customer service! I realize today was Valentine's Day and they were busy, but that's no excuse. We eat at this place regularly. I tried to call in a to-go order, and they set the receiver down, and I waited, and waited...... Finally I hung up and tried calling again. It rang about 20 times with no answer. I tried again, 20 rings, no answer. I tried a third time and they answered--I told them NOT TO PUT ME ON HOLD AGAIN, and the lady said she had to find a waitress to take my order. REALLY? After about 2 minutes, someone came to the phone to take my order. I explained that my husband was probably already there as it usually takes them only 10 minutes to make our order. The waitress saw him, and told him she'd get our order right out. After handing out 3 to-go orders for others, and sitting for about 20 minutes, my husband just got up and left (steaming mad). Pleasant greeting. Very cheerful service throughout the meal. Quickly acknowledged. I asked for soda water and was told, "We don't have that." I glanced at the soda machine with its choice of soda water, and asked for plain water. A soda machine without soda water is... well... broken. Somehow, I didn't believe her. But, anyway. There were two menus. One had the breakfast specials and one had everything else. I really didn't want a carb-loaded cholersterfest breakfast, so I took a gander at the other meals. Sandwiches were over $11.50. !!!!! gulp. I decided that I was in the need of a breakfast special. Now, I am a finer diner eater. Breakfast, to me, is something you either do right, or you don't. It is the diner's staple, and if you mess it up, you suck as a diner. For $5.99, you get a basic breakfast w/o meat. For $6.99, you get a basic breakfast with meat. I choose the $6.99 Loved the hash browns. They could have had two or three more minutes on the grill, but they were PDG (pretty damn good, for you acronym challenged.). Eggs-- well, they were just fine. PDH (pretty damn hard) to mess up scrambled eggs. The toast was above ordinary, thick and real sourdough-y. The whole piece was buttered, proving that they did NOT attend the Denny's School of Toast Buttering. (Wherein they teach the cooks to butter the middle 1/3 of the toast, leaving the rest to stand on its own good merits.) And then there was the sausage. Slightly pink in the middle. *sigh*. No, thank you. I know that pigs rarely pass on trichinosis nowadays, to its fond fan base of those who love dead pig flesh, but still, I don't eat raw Charlotte. And, lord knows, don't ever send food back to a kitchen to be cooked again. THEY DO BAD THINGS IN THOSE KITCHENS to the food of those who disobey that rule.
