I love this little venue...and it goes unnoticed by most. I myself walked by it a bunch of times and didn't even know it was there. I have been twice now and I had a great time. Here In Chico, it seems there are the earlier music shows for the older people and then the late night club/dance/party for the college kids. I am older so I like the start earlier and end earlier approach. So for me, the one thing that keeps me from going more to Lost on Main is that the shows don't start till 9:00 and usually end closer to midnight. (So I think they are missing the bulk of one crowd by this: starting too late for older crowd -too early for college kids) My other complaint is that the two nights I went had an unpleasant experience at the bar. Long wait, unfriendly, bartender, and horrible mixed drinks. I think they need to do better with the drinks... so far the worst drinks I've had in Chico so please do better because I like this venue, but things like unfriendly bartenders and overpriced drinks, are the sort of things will make me not go back. read more

So not a bar person, but the bouncer and girl at the front were rude. I didn't even go in. I was just there to see a fried of a friends band. Sorry lost on main if you're rude to me and treat me like I don't exist at the door I'm out. We simply asked the bouncer when the specific band was playing. The bouncer (with a stone calls I'm a prick face) flips over a paper on the counter and the girl that works there yells at him "you're not supposed to look at that!). Snatches from his hand. Then the bouncer (with his fat out of shape ass trying to look hard) just ignores us and says nothing... years ago I remember being there and getting pulled out of the bathroom and thrown out on my face.... mistaken identity type of deal. This place is garbage. I wouldn't recommend it unless you want some drama in your life. Go to the banchie or some place that treats you like a human with money. Some of these bouncers have some serious physiological issues. Not really safe in downtown Chico with these bro-types. Screw you lost! Your business is lost! And I won't be back - ever!!!! read more

I have never once ever ever ever enjoyed myself at this place. First of all, that bouncer with the stupid tattoos is one of the biggest pricks I've ever run into at a bar. They have that weird system where you have to exit on one side of the velvet rope and enter on the other side. This guy will watch you walk up to the wrong side, then put his hands on you and tell you to go around. I hate that. This guy should be fired. Next up is the prices of drinks. Sorry, but drinks don't cost this much in Chico. I'll pay that in San Francisco, but not in Chico. Once you've been hassled by the bouncer and paid way too much for a beverage, you get to sit back and enjoy the... decor? Shit. This is a load of nonsense piled with more nonsense! But hey, at least you can have a conversation here, as there's plenty of... standing room... and well, they've usually got some music or something turned up to 11 with their 50,000 watt subwoofers compromising the structure of the building. Also, they have a reggae night. I wish I could give them negative stars for this. Worst bar in Chico. Don't bother with this place. Walk a block or so and go to the University Bar. read more

Every time I have been in here, I have had a good time. The music is great and the drinks are good. The bartenders are friendly and usually pretty quick. Front door people are always friendly and the place is clean. They are ok with you going outside to smoke as long as your hand is stamped. Overall, if there is a band you would like to see here, I would go. read more

I've only been to Lost once in my year as a 21 yo, which at first I thought meant I wasn't qualified to rate this bar, but considering that I go out like once a week and have only been there once should say something about it. When I went, on a friday night, it was pretty barren. There were like 5 rastas hanging out in the corner and it kind of looked like it was decorated like the garage of some Nord Garden inhabitant. I mean Christmas lights and disco balls are funny when you're a sophomore trying to decorate your beer pong area but for a bar its kind of tacky. The drinks aren't but bad but they aren't great either, and the prices are just ok. All in all, I'll probably go back because it is a bar, but I just don't have high hopes at all, although I'm sure the rasta regulars do if you catch my drift! read more

I really really like Lost. This is our go-to, every weekend, if we're out we're here kind of place. That being said, I wish they'd host more upbeat, fun music instead of reggae and weird, sad hipster stuff all the time. Last night they had this EPIC awesome 10 piece band called Los Papis Chulos which KILLED IT. We had a blast, it was a nice change of pace and it was totally worth the cover. But, more oft than not, we're simply not into the music because it's not good, "hanging out and drinking" tunes. Besides the Big Room and Laxon, this is the best place in Chico for live music. Hands down the best spot for Funk. The only downside is that shows never ever start on time. When the headliner isn't taking the stage until after midnight, it makes it tough to work the next day. read more

Every downtown bar/club has its problems. Lost on Main suffers from obscurity. Of all the live music venues in downtown, this is by far the best. The owners invested attention and money into having a good sound and lighting system. Watching a performance at Lost is almost always a great experience. They have a raised seating area with a clear view of the stage, and a well placed and fully stocked bar in the back. The bartenders are by far the nicest and most personable you'll find in town. Security is strict, but they aren't a-holes like other bars. With such a nice atmosphere, the question remains, why no customers? This has been the problem for years, inconsistent patronage. As others have pointed out, the music offerings aren't well received, and the advertising is almost non-existent. Being a promoter, the most consistent response from those I invite to shows is "Where is Lost"? Apparently among the college crowd, Lost is in fact lost. If you visit their three Facebook pages (yes, three), you'll find different events on each one. The event calendar isn't used, so you have to scroll through their posts to find out what is coming up. And make sure you don't click the website lostonmain.com as it redirects to malware. If you haven't been to Lost, give it a try. You might be the only person in the venue, but the bartenders and staff will make you feel at home. In time, this club will be successful. Give them a visit and see the potential. read more

I've both performed and seen bands in this venue, and it is AWFUL! The atmosphere was akin to a Cyndi Lauper music video from 1985. Too much neon, blacklights and spotlights. There are some cool bartenders, but the rest of the staff suck. The promoters are downright incompetent, the bouncers are some of the biggest dicks I've had to deal with, and the price at the door is too high. The lay out is also very awkward, with the bar in the back and the (overly conspicuous) sound booth blocks the view of the stage. What also sucks? Oh yeah, the drinks are too expensive. read more

Best live music venue in Chico....this club brings in big name entertainment. Drink beer, as the bar drinks aren't very good. Great sound, and great dance floor. The owners are receptive to the community and bring in bands that cater to everyone, not just the college kids. More early shows on the weeknights, is my only recommendation! read more

despite the reviews this bar is actually cool. sure bands that have played there like the one a few reviews down might take issue with the bar.... probably because they suck. One of the cool features about this place is that the will book no name bands to play because they sound cool and they will give them a chance, but the drinks are strong, the atmosphere is friendly and the staff is fine for the most part... the door staff is mostly a bunch of dicks, but they're bouncers... typically shitty people to begin with, so what can you really expect? over all the bar is a fun and enviting place to hang out and have a few drinks, maybe you'll see a good band, maybe you'll see the same lame ass dj that's there every weekend, but over all its an awesome place. read more

Lost on Main has a lot of potential to be a great Chico bar and music venue but I feel as if the owner lacks ambition. I remember when it was really fun here. Now the fun seems to be few and further between. They really need to step it up with the venues and promoting of this venue because it has the potential to be one of the best in Chico. I dont care for the bouncer either, but I think the drinks are not bad at all, I just went there this weekend and they always have a double special, so I got double rum and cokes for 3 bucks, you are not going to find that in San Fran. I like going for live bands, the dj nights are usually packed late, but are full of college kids during the school months. read more

Too short never showed...if he did, it was after 12:30...apparently not the first time lost has bet on a loser. The "music" they were playing from 9:00 - 12:30 was crap. A wedding/barmitsvah DJ and three-four joke a$$ rappers. They did have some pretty dope grills though. As for me, I'm out $60 for tickets and another $50 for getting a sitter. I have seen Lost On Main go through many ups and downs and many changes over the years. Some were for the better and some were for the worse. I think they are back on the up swing now after many struggles. The dance floor is fun, and the owners are very nice people, but as a live music venue there are still a lot of issues that need improvement. The sound guys tend to screw up more than they should during a live performance and half of the band members on stage during a live performance are left in the dark without enough stage lighting for the whole band, which also unfortunately leaves band photography and band videography out, which unfortunately prevents the establishment from gaining good visual exposure online to build up more patronage for their live music events. The lack of proper stage lighting needs to be addressed and they need more competent sound techs running the soundboard. There is nothing worse than only two people in the band being lit up on stage while the other three are left in the dark, and I see this happening much too often at this live music venue. That is not fair to the individual musicians in the band who are being left in the dark on stage during a live performance, and it is embarrassing. That lack of proper stage lighting takes away from the audience experiencing a real professional band performing live on stage. Also there is not enough rock n roll bands being booked at Lost On Main. 90% of the bands being booked there are either funk bands, hippie bands, or reggae and afro beat bands. I'm not happy with the lack of real rock n roll bands being booked at a downtown live music venue. Nice people, but as a live music venue there is definitely room for improvement. read more
