Cocos nachos, pretzel with beer cheese, strawberry gimlet (sooo good) and beer
    Marliz A.

My husband and I stopped by Chico to visit my sister in law and she enthusiastically recommended we go to the Lost Dutchman Taproom. We sat outside in the new beer garden, which is dog friendly! My husband who is all about beer loved every single flight taster. I on the other hand am more of a cocktail lady, but I will say I enjoyed their beer flight especially the Out of Bounds Raspberry Sour taster. For food we had cocos nachos and the pretzel with beer cheese. Both were delicious and definitely shareable, we almost ordered a second plate of nachos! I am going to also throw a shoutout to Ana (our server at the Dutchmen) she was friendly, beer knowledgeable, and on point. Right next door is a speakeasy style cocktail lounge, Strong Water, which also did not disappoint. The Dutchmen shares the outdoor space with Strong Water so you are able to order cocktails as well which is nice! Some of the best cocktails i've ever had. We stayed till closing! We will definitely be coming back when we visit.

Outside patio was empty and dog friendly

Great place with a great space and nice people. The beer selection didn't wow me, but their dog friendliness did.

    Flight and calzones.

I'm a huge fan of this place. They have unique beers that you wouldn't find in the stores (and cinders!), bar munchies, and GAMES!! I played mancala while drinking a flight... #goals. The employees are welcoming, friendly, and give attentive service. That being said, they give you your space to drink your beers and socialize with your group. A must try if you are into beers and taprooms!

    $10. Flights

My Sister and I recently visited this establishment for the first time. We both got flights for $10. It came with 4 beer samplings each. The choices were great as Sierra Nevada was having that Beer Camp thing going on. So many hoppy options! The customer service was great! They were very friendly and informative. Loved it!

If you're a craft beer enthusiast and you're in the Chico area (perhaps after a tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery nearby), the Lost Dutchman Taproom is a place you just HAVE TO visit. Although there aren't an abundance of taps like a lot of bars I'm used to in SoCal, the focus here is on quality, not quantity. Now, let me say this: I don't mean to say that there isn't a lot of quality craft beer out there, however, this place puts some hard to find AND high quality craft beer on tap. For dinner, I went with the Sausage Calzones: two calzones stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella cheese with a side of marinara sauce. Let me say that I've paid a LOT more for lesser flavored and stuffed calzones. Again, the key here is quality over quantity. When you taste just how flavorful the calzone is, you're satisfied with what you're provided on the plate. I loved them. For beer, well, I lost track of everything I had to drink. I remember having a Nitro IPA as well as a few other IPAs, a stout and a saison style ale. I do know that there wasn't one thing I decided not to finish. This place is cozy but not quiet. With all the great beer and great food coming out from the bar and kitchen, there's plenty to discuss at your table. In addition, the bar and wait staff are all really friendly people.

Stone IPA, Chardonnay & mesquite almonds... delicious!

Awesome beer selection, great wine by the glass, yummy snacks, attentive friendly service, cool ambiance. What a great pace, so glad we finally tried it. Chico peeps, you gotta go here!

It's fairly small but fixed up nice. They have a good beer selection and a few food items. We had the mac & cheese and the beef chili. They just opened on Tuesday. The owner was there and the people working seemed nice. Nothing else really on that side of town. I think they maybe had 15 beers on tap or so but the selection was good.

Schilling ginger cider, Putah Creek DIPA, smoked almonds and apple cheese panini with kale salad. Yummy!

Not sure if it was on "off" day for the chef but the Shepherds pie had zero flavor as if no spices or salt was used. The celery and carrots were undercooked and crunchy. There was hardly any meat and veg compared to the amount of potatoes on top. Potatoes also had no flavor of salt or butter. So bland and blech! Aside from the taste of the terrible food, the prices were way too high for the amount of food..$26 for a very small shepherds pie. There is no wait staff. You place your order at the counter. Once we ordered and paid for two shepherds pies (with the tip upfront) we found a table and sat down. The cashier then came to tell us there was only one shepherds pie left (on a Saturday at 5:30 in the evening?) and we could order something else and since we had already paid, he would give us another drink or something to offset the difference. We then ordered The Rancher. This also had hardly any filling with a puff pastry on top. Again, way overpriced at $24. We didn't get another drink to make up for the price difference. On top of all this, the Saturday evening "entertainment" was a group of senior citizens singing songs from the 50's and 60's very LOUDLY. It was a strange choice for a weekend night at a bar. No offense to the singers but wow, it was awkward as you feel as if you have to give a bit of applause since they are literally right next to the table. We left after eating a small amount and went to find dinner somewhere else.

We had kids with us, so we got there an hour before it became 21+. Everyone was friendly, the food came pretty quick relative to how hopping it was. We ordered: Pho-rench dip (w/fries)--I think this was a DDD sandwich, so it's not some hidden gem, but it was super tasty. You cannot go wrong. The slight lime-iness of the dipping broth really kicked it into turbo. Also, we all likes the steak fries--a note on that later. Chicken Cheese Steak (w/fries)--my wife loved it. I tried a bite, and it was great--a little mushroom-forward, but we like that. Mac and Cheese--do not be fooled by the slightly smaller bowl, it is very filling. My son can eat his birth weight in pasta, and he had to tap out! I tried a bite--it was creamy (not grainy at all), and was just the right amount of salty and cheese-funky. Grilled cheese and tomato soup (w/fries)--perhaps the least successful for my family, but only because my daughter prefers a smoky/spicy tomato soup, and this was more on the sweet side. The griled cheese was of the "crispy cheese on the outside" ilk, which my daughter thought was really good. So, totally would go again. IMPORTANT NOTE (to people traveling through Chico, or who don't want to take leftovers)--the sandwiches are pretty big, and the add-on fry order is also sizeable. If we were going again tomorrow, we would either order 1 fry instead of 3. Or split a sandwich. Very very good pub.
