We haven't been to tap room in a while. But go often to Wine time and Strong water. We had such great beers and food . I love sour beer and dark beer , so was thrilled with their on tap selection. The staff was excellent and food was great . After enjoying our meal outside on patio, we went to Strong water for after dinner cocktail. The 2 gals working behind bar were excellent. So GLAD to have these 2 great bartenders there . Yipeee! Its been a min since i have found someone who can make a craft cocktail and not just a drink! So was so happy ! I will be back more often because of these 2 great bartenders and their wonderful craft cocktail making ability. After getting our cocktails , we headed to the secret cigar bar outside. So lovely. May 2021 - OUTDOOR - during covid social distancing: Very nice quality outdoor seating and an overall classy comfortable feeling environment. Great service (also all of the servers wore masks). Large selection of beers, 3 wines and small menu. Cocos Nachos were excellent. $14 The Lemony Orzo Salad was nice. $6 Rueben Panini was pretty good (I'm a Rueben lover and theirs was ok, not awesome). $14. My husband and I stopped by Chico to visit my sister in law and she enthusiastically recommended we go to the Lost Dutchman Taproom. We sat outside in the new beer garden, which is dog friendly! My husband who is all about beer loved every single flight taster. I on the other hand am more of a cocktail lady, but I will say I enjoyed their beer flight especially the Out of Bounds Raspberry Sour taster. For food we had cocos nachos and the pretzel with beer cheese. Both were delicious and definitely shareable, we almost ordered a second plate of nachos! I am going to also throw a shoutout to Ana (our server at the Dutchmen) she was friendly, beer knowledgeable, and on point. Right next door is a speakeasy style cocktail lounge, Strong Water, which also did not disappoint. The Dutchmen shares the outdoor space with Strong Water so you are able to order cocktails as well which is nice! Some of the best cocktails i've ever had. We stayed till closing! I like this taproom a lot. The location is a little hidden but they have a lot of parking available. The decor here is fairly standard but it was super clean and cozy. I also noticed that they had quite a few board games available to play with which is soo exciting consistently some places have none or like not the fun ones. I do wish those games had a nice shelf or something to sit on. I came in late to grab a drink with a friend and they ppl working there were super friendly even though it was close to closing. This place was super chill and since it is a ways from central dow town it's pretty hole in the wall like esque. I liked the variety of drinks that they had on tap. Esp. Some of that booch.. I havent gone often enough to see how often they rotate and how they switch it up but I was happy with the selection. The employees are super friendly and make it very welcoming esp. allison. Good beer selection and a beautiful outdoor seating area. The ambiance was great. The only negative surprise was the fact that they no longer the tacos shown on the menus posted to yelp. I'm all for rotating menus, but I prefer to save my carbs for good beer, and the current food menu is entirely carb-heavy options. I'm a huge fan of this place. They have unique beers that you wouldn't find in the stores (and cinders!), bar munchies, and GAMES!! I played mancala while drinking a flight... #goals. If you're a craft beer enthusiast and you're in the Chico area (perhaps after a tour of the Sierra Nevada Brewery nearby), the Lost Dutchman Taproom is a place you just HAVE TO visit. Although there aren't an abundance of taps like a lot of bars I'm used to in SoCal, the focus here is on quality, not quantity. Now, let me say this: I don't mean to say that there isn't a lot of quality craft beer out there, however, this place puts some hard to find AND high quality craft beer on tap. For dinner, I went with the Sausage Calzones: two calzones stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella cheese with a side of marinara sauce. Let me say that I've paid a LOT more for lesser flavored and stuffed calzones. Again, the key here is quality over quantity. When you taste just how flavorful the calzone is, you're satisfied with what you're provided on the plate. I loved them. For beer, well, I lost track of everything I had to drink. I remember having a Nitro IPA as well as a few other IPAs, a stout and a saison style ale. I do know that there wasn't one thing I decided not to finish. This place is cozy but not quiet. With all the great beer and great food coming out from the bar and kitchen, there's plenty to discuss at your table. In addition, the bar and wait staff are all really friendly people. read more

We went there yesterday for the second time ever. Good place to try for a beer drinker. Only one of each wine for the rest of us. Very limited food menu. We had the jalapeño poppers and they were excellent. We let our server know we intended to eat dinner, and were just starting out with the poppers...but he never came back...until all our water, wine and beer were gone. We had waited and finally gave up and stacked our napkins on our plates and just waited for the check. We would have stayed for dinner if anyone had actually acknowledged our existence any further. We won't be back. REALLY disappointing service. There are far too many other great places in town to give this a 3rd try. read more

Great atmosphere and a solid bar with a great variety of beer. The Boulder Beer Co, Chocolate Porter was excellent. I do recommend this place and will continue to come back. The bar had a popcorn odor that wrecked my senses as soon as I walked through the door of the bar. I highly recommend getting rid of the popcorn machine. I want to smell my beer. Ordered pretzels and cheese, the cheese was great but it was served with two tiny pretzels. Check out Sierra Nevada's pretzel bread to cheese ratio, they do it right. read more

It's fairly small but fixed up nice. They have a good beer selection and a few food items. We had the mac & cheese and the beef chili. They just opened on Tuesday. They offer a few small bites, which clearly are a great effort considering I don't think they have a full chefs kitchen of any kind. Service was great, they dimmed the lights and turned up the music just as we were walking in which set the mood. I'm interested to see what type of events the will have on there outdoor space. Hubby had a refreshing local craft brew, Putah Creek DIPA. a definite "do again"- great balance of flavors. Beyond expectations. I had the Schilling Ginger cider, a crisp and fresh drink on such a hot afternoon. We split the Apple, cheddar (hubby said goat cheese) panini with kale salad along with smoked almonds. Expertly done. While dining, the owner came in and was testing a new dessert item. She offered us a decadent brownie cookie bar with hints of expression and coconut shavings on top. I'm giving Lost Dutchman a 4 star rating without having actually had a beer or food there. Why? Because they absolutely helped a lady out tonight. I wandered in after Day 10 of sitting 6-8 hour days with my mom at Enloe, and now assisted living. (She'll be fine...just has to get stronger). All I wanted was a nice, strong imperial or BA stout. When I walked in, the vibe here was absolutely spot on. Really pretty, serene interior. Just enough people, and a nice greeting as I chose a seat at the bar. I looked for a hook under the bar for my purse and one server apologized and said they didn't have them. Then another server came over and showed them to me, then showed them to him and it was pretty frickin' hilarious, actually. Then I started the process of trying to order a stout. They.tried.so.hard to find me a beer. But I was just in the mood for that one perfect beer, and they didn't have it. So when I asked where I might find it, my server(s) asked yet a third guy where I might find one. And then I felt the need to explain my finicky with my sad tale so I didn't seem like such a princess (shhhhh....no commentary here, please). And the woman next to me then told me she totally understood, because she was just finishing the paperwork on her loss of her home in the Camp Fire. So...wow...it's all Cheers up in here and now I wish I was staying. But they steer me to a place that they think will have just what I'm looking for (follow my thread to see how that went LOL). The Lost Dutchman is a hidden gem in Chico, small and cozy. The atmosphere is inviting, the tap selection excellent enough to keep my husband happy, and the snack food divine. We ordered the cheese & pretzels for a small bite. The cheese dip was so good that when we ran out of pretzels we used our fingers to finish off the dip. If you want a more substantial bite they do have a few sandwich options & a steak chili that smelled so yummy. Our bartender was the "cherry on top" of our awesome experience, friendly & informational. We easily could have spent ALL day there. read more

This is our new favorite spot on the north side of town! Love the constant variety of great beers, and the food is fantastic. We can't get enough of the pretzel and beer cheese. This is a pretty cool little spot. After hearing a lot about it, we finally visited one afternoon for a couple pints. I wish I had taken pictures because the interior is really well done. To be honest, I expected something much more sports-bar-ish (hey, it's Chico) but I was very pleasantly surprised. Just classy enough without having to get dressed up! They had a ton of beers on tap, but I can't remember what I ordered. Something hoppy, I'm sure. The waitress/bartender was very sweet at helpful but not overly attentive where you just want them to leave you alone. I would like to try the Lost Dutchman again with a bigger crowd in the back room. I am curious if you can rent the space because that would be fun! It's curtained off, but I think it would limit bathroom access for other patrons. It'd be a great spot for a birthday or shower! Will be visiting again and hopefully trying the food! ...maybe if this place is successful enough the owner will consider expanding to Paradise! Probably not...but a girl can dream! read more

Great beer choices but I'm concerned about one thing in particular............. 10 ounce pours on beers that don't have high alcohol content (I.e. Double IPA's). Most Pilsner and IPA's with upwards of 7% alcohol, are usually always served in a pint glass (16 oz pour). I have had beers all over the U.S. and a 10 ounce pour on a 6.8% IPA is absolutely ridiculous. I hope this place gets with the times. They need to see how places like Bend Oregon serve their multitude of beers. I have no problem paying the typical $6.00 for a good micro brew......... when it is a 16 ounce pour, not 10 ounces........ the only exception would be for a super high alcohol beverage above 8% alcohol. read more

Stopped by on a whim. Ordered food and a couple pours from the beard. Sprightly conversation ensued. Between us, which it would have anyway. Food was delivered, and it was good. But no one bothered to see if we wanted another beverage. We did want a second beer. But we watched two of the three waitdudes serving a dozen tastes to a table of two friends, standing around yukking it up with them, and a second boss-seeming ginger beard coming in, looking around, leaving with cordial tidings to the friends, who did manage to order a couple beers, and no one made eye contact with us, who really were sitting where you had to try not to see us. I took one star off based on the available food options, but if that's not something you plan on testing while there, consider this a five star review. I can't tell you how excited we are the have The Lost Dutchman Taproom open on our neighborhood! We were there last night with a big group of friends and had an excellent time! Staff was extremely friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The location is gorgeous- well decorated and set-up comfortably. The beer selection was fantastic with many rare and unique brews, but go-to staples like our hometown Pale Ale in stock, too. We are big fans of the neighboring Wine Time, but I think The Lost Dutchman will be a new favorite with us. read more
