Lovely ambience, quality wines and cocktails..... but the food was just not good this evening. My companion and i ordered the soup flights which was disappointing. The butternut still has crunchy fresh ground onion throughout- and served lukewarm. Borderline cold. The cabbage bacon was... ok? Unseasoned needed salt pepper .... Asked if we could have the french onion but the server was unable to accommodate. Now dessert- ordered the bread pudding which was a brick of cold burned on the bottom disappointment. FIRE THE CHEF Fantastic location for north Chico residents who don't want to go downtown. Unfortunately, the chef can't make decent food. Been giving them business for years and delivering polite feedback that their menu and food execution is sub par. They could be so much more if they had a competent chef that understood how to cook decent meal. The patio of Wine Time at dusk is magical! They have created a very intimate space that feels like you're sitting in the courtyard of an estate... not a restaurant. The service was exceptional and there were plenty of options for our vegan friends. I (not vegan) wish there was a more diverse or robust selection of small plates / appetizers, but what we did order was delicious. My only real gripe is their limited hours. I was just here tonight. The food is exactly what I'd hoped for. Had a cheese plate, salad, and bolognese. The food tasted fresh and sauce was very balanced. Overall, I'd say the food was very comforting for the fall season. They also had several seasonal soups to offer which all look good. It looks like they might be connected to a local farm because the salad was super fresh with exquisite flavors. Very nice and knowledgeable staff - recommended a great wine to go with the food. Drove by and saw the Tap Room sign but realized it was closed. Saw Wine Time directly across the parking lot and decided to check it out with some friends for drinks before dinner. There are about 6-8 tables or seating areas set up outside per Covid regulations. We walked up asking if there was any availability for a party of 3. There were several open tables but were told they were fully booked but they "would check". A few minutes later the host came back and said there was just one table left. We were seated promptly and given a menu, wine list, and beer menu. I ordered a glass of the Foxglove cab which was nice. Covid rules require food items purchased on the same tab as alcohol so we ordered their meat and cheese platter and fresh vegan spring rolls. The spring rolls, two pieces, were delicious. I loved the pistachio dipping sauce. The service was friendly and attentive. We had a great time there with good food and great company. read more

The location is great for people on north side of town. Parking was good and off street. Building and ambiance inside were very nice. The table configuration was strange, felt like we were sitting in a pathway. They have a beautiful bar and good bartenders, however a limited selection of mixers and booze. They clearly want you to buy off their drink menu only. While they had some nice looking drinks, no one in our group chose from their menu. We all had to settle on some variation of drink they could make. We were just there for appetizer and that menu was very limited. Service was friendly but a little slow. Overall if you want a cocktail and appetizer, this is probably not the first choice. Unfortunately probably have to head downtown. read more

Hopefully, as the weather gets more chilly, they will add patio heaters- we were cold, but insisted on staying outdoors due to Covid precautions. The wine / bubbly flights are fun. In terms of the food, the standout was the spring roll. Delicious. I found the flat breads way too cheesy. We got the bread plate, and I wish the olive oil/ balsamic was pour your own. This is a fun place to go in Chico. Small plates and wine are their thing. Service is good and the ambiance is nice. There's outside dining with heaters in a garden setting and a good selection of wines by the glass. The interior is like an upscale barn - high and woodsy. They also have a place for beer and another "real" bar with mixed drinks, etc. These are all separate from Wine Time. There is also a boutique hotel on the premises - the James, I believe. The food was a bit of a let down honestly,not as good as I would of expected for the atmosphere and the price. The food came out spaced apart so as we waited for everyone's food ours got cold. The flavors were a bit underwhelming and just not put together as well as would be expected when your paying $25 a plate. We were kicked off our table when there were 3 other tables open- but evidently the people wanted our table. My friends and I had not seen each other for a year and wanted to stay visiting each other. We were asked to move- instead we left. It should be told when a person calls in that if their particular table isn't available they will need to sit elsewhere instead of kicking 4 people off a table. She made a couple of excellent recommendations. The wine list is not too lengthy, but is nicely balanced and includes a healthy selection of red and white varietals by the glass. They also offer different sized pours in case you want to try more than one wine. Had the Bunocristiani OPC a Napa Valley Cabernet blend and a small taste of the Horse and Plow Cab Franc from Sonoma County. Both were excellent. We love the gourmet food prepared with the freshest ingredients, the lovely ambience, and the gracious service. These were the reasons we reserved the private dining room for our small wedding reception on 11/10. Jasmine James was so helpful, guiding us in the pairing of wine and food, including vegan options. Then, the Camp Fire started on 11/8. When the wedding cake was delivered to Wine Time on the afternoon of the 10th, we learned that they had closed on Friday and would be closed that night as well because the owners' home had burned in the fire. HOWEVER, this wonderful family, who had lost so much, opened their doors for our small reception. The chef and sous chef came in and prepared a delicious feast; Jasmine was our most excellent server. From the first glass of wine to the last cup of French press coffee, it was a beautiful evening. Food: MB, C, E, and I had an impromptu Galentine's Day dinner without reservations at 5:30pm. Fondue special on Valentine's Day weekend for $20 for 3-4 people? Pretty good deal. We opted for the classic cheese fondue. While we had enough melted cheese in our fondue pot, we didn't have enough of the bread and veggie cubes, so we had to tack on an extra $5 for an additional plate of food. Fondue wasn't that tasty either. Maybe next time, we should order from their tapas and food menu. Service: Inattentive. Our waitress accidentally gave our order of spanakoptika to another table. How is that possible?! Since the item hadn't arrived when we finished our fondue, we cancelled it. Ambience: Classy and upscale place. Live music at 7pm on Saturdays. Most people were dressed up in elegant dresses and suits. My friends and I just came from a winery tour, so we were much more casually dressed. This place is really wonderful. First time going I was a little lost, but if you take 99, exit at Eaton and go over the freeway, left at the Esplanadelight; it's the first big driveway on the right. I'm gluten free and found great choices in the jerk chicken sliders (which were on yam slices with a delicious apple sauce chutney on top; so yummy! The chipotle truffles were also divine with the wine... It was a "port like" wine, I don't recall the exact name. I love that you can get 2 oz of wine at a time and the plates are perfect for sharing. This is definitely my new favorite in Chico, for sure! There were many breads choices, too; but it was nice to have several gluten- free/ paleo options as well. Kudos! read more
