I've always liked Raley's all over, they have a good meat dept. I was in Chico for a Christmas visit and wanted to bring something to BBQ. I've had the Coleman Duroc pork before and it is a cut above the standard pork, and really not that much more expensive. I got some nice thick cut rib chops, you know, the ones that look like little prime ribs? Theses looked real good at round just $5.99 / lb. We rubbed a spice mix on them and bbq'ed on the gas grill. Wow, those were some great pork chops, I'll go back to my Local Raleys and get there again! Beef prices are getting too high and these taste even better! Had a terrible experience today. Thought I was buying a $20 bottle dollar of wine that turned out to be $29. Cashier said "no problem:, she instructed me to sign my signature on the screen for the total grocery bill and I could then return this one item. She called her manager over for a return, who said it was against the law to return a bottle of wine. The cashier said: "Oh, I didn't know that". As the customer, am I supposed to pay the price for the lack of training and education of Raley's cashiers? I would not have signed for the grocery order in the first place. I would have rejected the entire order and asked the cashier to please ring up each item again without the bottle of wine. The store manager could have easily made this "right". She could have acknowledged her staff member instructed me to sign for the entire order with the understanding I could return this one item. Knowingly or unknowingly, the cashier lied to me (which was clearly unknowingly; I don't blame the cashier). The manager continued to say it was "against the law" to return a bottle of wine. Ms. Manager: I understand that. I get that. I'm not asking Raley's to break the law. Yet the Raley's cashier TOLD me something that was not true. I'm expect Raley's cashiers to know what they're talking about. It's not about the $10. That' not the point. It's about Raley's not having the integrity or character, as a company, to acknowledge their cashier made an honest mistake. It wasn't about breaking the law. Raley's could have written off $29 off from your profits that day - - - just taken that amount off my bill and kept the bottle of wine for the sake of customer satisfaction. Customer satisfaction is apparently not Raley's goal. I will never, never, set foot inside of a Raley's again. For the rest of my life. That sounds extreme. Was this an isolated incident? Yes, for sure it was. Does it speak volumes about the corporate culture and the level of customer satisfaction Raley's does *not* aspire to? Yes, it does. Speaks volumes. read more

Nice store, prices are ok, the best part of the store is the bread section. The breads are fresh, super soft and smell delicious... yep! The bakery rocks :) I found the best price on coffee creamer (almost a dollar cheaper then at Safeway) Yippie! I drink coffee every single day and getting a good price for my fav creamer is KEY!! I'm finding that the prices all over Chico are more expensive then in LA which is very weird :-/ Anyhoo this store had a pretty good organic fruit and veggie section as well as a super extensive flower department. Since this was my first visit, I inquired about the customer loyalty program (I LOVE the Ralphs program and will miss it tremendously :(. No Ralphs in Chico. Waaaaaaa!) I'm a bargain shopper, a loyalty program is what will bring me back, digital coupons on items I buy the most, cash back... all that good stuff, gotta have it! Thanks to Javier, the store manager for setting me up with my new account and showing me how to use it. Its a bit more complicated then simply flashing a bar code from my iPhone but whatever, Chico is a little behind the times and I'll have to adjust. Whatever the plans are for your next meal do NOT buy the prawns from Raleys!!! I spent $15.99 a lb on mushy, unpealable, uncleaned and in other words a seafood product that was over priced and almost inedible. I had forgotten that, that particular Raleys doesn't not have a formal meat dept. so I really have to put a little of the blame on myself. My review of Raley's has gone through some changes as the store has changed over the years. I've been shopping at the Raley's on Notre Dame Blvd in Chico since 2011 regularly. I like this particular Raley's because it is convenient, clean, well stocked and works with my schedule. For a while I was upset with Raley's because I had a hard time adapting to the changes in the store when they remodeled a few years ago. I stopped shopping there for a while, but after a short "break up," I started shopping there again. I stopped in to buy one or two things one night after work and there was a friend of mine there managing the store, so I figured "knock it off" and started shopping there once again for all of my groceries. Raley's in Chico has a wonderful produce department with fruits and vegetables that are much more fresh than any other grocery store in Chico, as far as I'm concerned. They have a large, well stocked meat department with a friendly and helpful butcher. If you ask the Raley's butcher for ANYTHING in the way of help, he will help you out. I've asked them for assistance with planning out meats for a large party many, many times, and the butcher always gives me good cuts of meat and he will help me plan out how much meat for how many people, and has given me recipes over the years. We don't drink, but when our daughter got married we had a full liquor bar, wine, beer, etc, and bought it all at Raley's. The manager helped us out and we just let her know what we wanted and when. They have an enormous selection of liquor, wine and beer at this Raley's and it is all well tended and organized. As a shopper I felt that the service was instant and they were ready on the spot to help me plan out the bar for 150 people. I am now disabled with a hopefully temporary knee problem and have to use the rolling cart to shop. The carts are always clean, charged up and ready for me - unlike other grocery stores in Chico. Raley's also has a personal shopper service that is pretty cool. I can go online to their website, search through their entire grocery store in which they have every grocery product in inventory, and do my shopping at my convenience. If I spend at least $100 I get the service done for free. I pick what time I want to come get the groceries, drive to the store, the personal shopper brings the groceries out, loads them in my car, gets one signature, and that's it. I get my husband to unload the groceries at home and I'm happy. There is a bank in Raley's, greeting cards, and a HUGE selection of gift cards from places all over. You can buy your friend a gift card from a gas station, for example, Amazon or many other places in the area. Anyway, Raley's grocery store in Chico is really great, gives friendly service, and has good stuff - what more could you want? read more

I ordered a custom "extreme baseball cake" online for my sons 8th birthday party. I received email confirmation that they were working on my cake with a plan of picking it up after 10:00am a few days later. When I arrived at 11:00am at the bakery counter I was told that they were out of the "extreme baseball" kit so she did something similar, "I hope you like it." It was really bad and not at all what I had ordered and already paid for. The bakery staff offered to "fix it" for me but I was in a hurry and didn't have time to wait. Need less to say I was very disappointed and everyone at the birthday party agreed it was really bad. I did email the the store but got a generic response. read more

I usually stop in here at least once a week, I love the fact that it's not crowded and it's fairly quick to get in and out. I am willing to pay higher prices for the convenience and the nice, calm atmosphere. There are some things on my list that I simply refuse to buy here because the prices are too high, even on sale, but there are also things that I exclusively buy here because no one else in town carries them. I constantly have to watch the organic Sunnyside milk dates, they have been expired the day of or already passed before. I even had to return a gallon once because it was past the date. I have used e-cart many times and grocery delivery once. E-cart is usually convenient, I have had to wait 15 minutes for my groceries before but not a huge deal. It does seem like every time I order, I get a text that something is out of stock, or something ends up missing from my order. There are times that everything is right though. One major complaint I have with E-cart and even in-store sometimes, is with the deli department, I always request thin but not shaved ham and I always get the precut thick stuff. That's very aggravating because firstly, thick cut ham grosses me out and secondly, thinner cut ham goes further. I have to choke it down for a week and it doesn't last as long because of employee laziness. Grocery delivery went without a hitch, I ended up with a random Simply Orange juice that I didn't pay for but no complaints. I once had a really tense run-in with a female employee who gave me some horrible attitude when I asked her where something was, but a manager was quick to investigate the situation and followed up with me properly. read more

I really dislike the recent movement of not allowing me the access to soft drinks. They were moved from multiple locations to a single area. These areas now have replacement beverages that in reality can have the same or more sugars than what they replaced. If I wanted a Whole Foods experience I would shop at Whole Foods, Sprouts or Trader Joe's. Please return back to being a grocery store where I have choices that can select. I shop here quite a bit . It's five min away. And the workers are so nice and attentive. It's not a labyrinth, you can't get lost. Very good customer service. Haven't had a problem yet . Except the day after New Year's Eve there's was no Veuve Clicqout!!! The nerve lol:) had to go up the road which was fine. The hot food section needs some upgrading. After the re-model, Raleys is a pretty nice place to shop. I haven't experienced any expired food since the re-model. The deli is nice, has made to order sandwiches, pre-made foods, a fresh veggie and salad bar. The restrooms are also really nice and easy to access now. read more

Pretty much everything you need, really friendly and professional staff. Only thing wrong is the men's bathroom sink--every time I use it no matter which setting I adjust it to it's scalding hot. Almost burned my hands just using them for 10 seconds, I hope none of their employees have to use that volcano every time they need to wash their hands! read more

Went to purchase 2 dozen donuts in the morning last Thursday. I went to self check out since they didn't have any services lines open. I put the donuts on the counter, selected 1 dozen donut option from the menu inventory and completed that action twice. The helper came over and accused me of "doing it wrong". He went and asked me if I put the exact number of donuts in the selection. I told him I put in 2 dozen. He looked at the price and said, "nope." He went back on the selection screen to prove his point only to find out he was wrong. Instead of an apology, he said, "well, I was just making sure you were getting your money's worth." Bull honky. He was accusing me of stealing. I have never been so upset with poor service. There are lots of other places to buy groceries. I will tell the students I work with to never shop here. Poor service and poor training ale for horrible experiences. Worst part was when I filed a complaint with corporate, they said thanks for telling us, it won't happen again, but there is no follow through on what their plan of action was to be. read more

I did have a problem with an employee a couple of months ago who rolled his eyes when I asked for help but he got over it and helped me. Also, I am so disappointed they no longer carry Lasco's Herring in Sour Cream. Sorry, Raley's, but your brand is not as good. It's waaay too sweet. But I love you guys anyway! read more
