Overall, I really love this store. They have a fantastic selection of pretty much everything... all things organic, a fantastic selection of sushi, their vegetables are pretty supreme, I really love all their cold case items and their Cosmetics section is amazing. The one thing I discovered I do not like is their stuffing. I didn't want to make stuffing this year for the holiday so I purchased the premade stuffing from the hot bar. Unfortunately, it was the most disgusting, bland, beyond tasteless mushy air (lol yes, REALLY) food I have ever tasted. That's all I did was taste it, and threw it straight in the trash. What a waste of money, and it wasn't cheap! I could've bought three boxes of stuffing for the price I paid for this one portion. I guess that's what I get for being lazy. Next year, I'll definitely make the stuffing on my own. With that being said, that might be the only downside to the store. Now you know, don't buy the stuffing, it's nasty. Lucky for them, that's the only nasty thing in the store, everything else is absolutely amazing. It is easy off the freeway!7 I will be making an organic whole chicken so I bought organic lemons...rosemary and thyme. I also bought a beautiful organic new york steak. The meat department looked nice and the employee was super helpful! They also had a suishi station making some good rolls! This place is smaller than the one in Yuba city ( not the same chain) but still offers a full deli..separate coffee area...suishi...salad bar...hot food bar..etc I bought a beautiful organic new york steak that was way better than your regular grocery stores! LOVE their paninis! The Mt Lassen with portobello mushroom is my go-to! I get sushi from the deli often too- an easy grab for something fresh & good when on the run. Love their gifts section (especially when they amp it up around the holidays!) and their salad bar has lots of choices for toppings!! read more

Wonderful store for fresh and healthy food. Can taste the quality in every bite! They have fresh everything: salads, sandwiches, sushi, etc. There is so much to choose from at this store. I really fancy coming here whenever I am in this part of town. Food can be a on the pricey side here, but sometimes you have to shell out a couple more dollars for quality. Checked out this store for the first time, they want people to support their local business, but give lousy service? 1) I asked an employee for help reaching an item. She went to get a step ladder, but was stopped by a friend. I waited a minute and went back to find the clerk and saw her holding the ladder and still chit chatting with her friend. I had to remind her I was still waiting and was first to ask for assistance. 2) The cashier I had (Gretchen) was great, friendly and attentively bagging my purchases. I heard another cashier asking her customer if they wanted her to bag their purchases. I was shocked and found out that cashier was the owner of the store. I mean, what? I go to new earth market at least once every two weeks to get their couscous with artichoke salad that they don't seem to make but every two weeks they're salad bar is top-notch. Everything is fresh daily. You can also pick up your sushi which is at the guys makes daily and then I believe that it's half off after 6 o'clock at night, so it's fresh every single day read more

Living in Chico for many seasons, I always felt very uncomfortable walking into New Earth. It wasn´t just the insane price point of the products. I had several locals ask me ¨why i was even going there (like someone like me,,,a pregnant mom using EBT should not be there)¨...it escalated until I was told while trying to go grocery shopping for the first time after my c-section that New Earth Accountant Sara Allison ¨had guns and was ready for me¨if i went near. I love shopping at this store! The best part is their product standards. I am the shopper who looks at everything on the food label especially ingredients so this store is the smart choice for shoppers like me. I appreciate the fact that they try to accommodate many different health & dietary needs and that they screen all of their products for some commonly known or potential bad ingredients like msgs, artificial colors/ flavors, malitol, methylparaben, sucralose and about 100 others. Just because something advertises "organic" or "natural" or "no added..." that doesn't mean it's healthy. You could say it is a little expensive but that's the price for buying quality ingredients. Also, their prices are about the same as other health stores who do not screen their ingredients and actually recommend them while only looking at the vitamins and not the toxins included. It is nice and comforting to see a store at least attempt to quit selling foods containing some bad ingredients so eventually maybe the companies will stop poisoning our food with them or consumers will be more aware of what not to buy. I have had at least five occasions where the register person has over charged me, and I had to go back to get a refund. This a big inconvenience and the staff is not apologetic. When I made a comment that they should have been better about this, their comment is that I could have caught their mistake when checking out. This defense is called deflection of the problem (it is you, not me). I let the know that there are people waiting to checkout and it is not my responsibility to assure they are doing their job correctly. What they should be doing is saying sorry and that they are going to talk to the person that makes the error. On top of that they should offer a gift card for the inconvenience, like Safeway does. Another downside is that the staff is not friendly and never say hello when shopping. They are too busy discussing themselves with other staff. read more

I went to New Earth on Tuesday for the very first time and had the best experience because of Kelsey. When I walked in she immediately greeted me with her smile and asked how I was doing while the other employees watched me struggle trying to understand the flow of the deli. This is the Whole Foods of Chico! They have a lot of the same things an Whole Food would have, but I think a lot more of their products are local. The staff is always friendly and the food/produce is fresh! I honestly like to come here after an good workout from OrangeTheory, then grab a healthy fresh hot sandwich for lunch/dinner! Of course, this place is a lot more pricey than your average grocery store. They sell mostly organic/all natural types of product. Things you won't find at safeway or trader joes. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

The only OK experience ive had here has been in the skin care section and its sad to me that I remember that clearly when this is a store that has customers, I would assume they should have customer service skills? I come back to this place all the time because there are things I enjoy buying from here and I usually suck it up that the emloyees usually treat me as if they are better than everyone else and act super pretentious working in a health food store... The other morning I had come in at 9 to order coffee when I realized that at risk customers (for covid) have a designated shopping time so I verbatim said to the lady at the coffee register "hey im sorry I didn't see that you guys have a designated shopping time for at risk customers, is it still okay if I grab coffee (there were no other customers in the store and I wanted to be respectful so she didn't have to kick me out)?"and she basically read me back what I had just read off the sign and just had a really poor attitude even though I was trying to be nice. Even before I got a chance to order she was helping a guy out and it seemed like she was being super friendly and when she got done she tried to walk away and I that's when I had mentioned the sign to her. Anyway, this hasn't been the only time ive had a really unpleasant experience with the staff here. I really would like to know if the employees aren't getting paid enough or if they only hire judgmental, non experienced people to run this store. Today I went for my weekly Sunday trip to New Earth market to pick up groceries. Soon after coming in I was yelled at by A manager: Brandy. She was going off about how she didn't want me in there. After finally telling me why she said it was for taking a sample... I'll admit I have probably taken 50 cents of samples in the past to see if I want it but they said that was not okay so I stopped. Keep in mind this was a month ago. I mentioned this and they said the Owner Kelly had them review footage and that the owner did not want me in there. It was extremely rude and I'm not sure who the owner was but this Brandy lady threw you under the bus and makes you look like a real jerk. I was living in Nevada & my folks had moved here from Arizona, my mother was having severe allergies here from the pollens and could get no relief. I had a good friend Roger who was with Whole Foods in Reno...had been there forever. My 'go to guy' regarding myself or my yellow labs...just wonderful . He had a very close friend Denise(?) who worked at New Earth Chico...my mother told me how amazing Denise(?) was & helped her beyond belief. (Unfortunately my mother passed 3/2020 from Covid she hated the medical system here). I went in yesterday & had a terrible experience with a gal Paula...very condescending, judgemental & rude. She was even talking to the cashier on register #1 about me. I am not at all knowledgeable about CBD/THC or hemp for myself (but moreso for my dogs). This place is pricey, and I only really come here to buy Chico Chai or Beber Almond Milk. The staff is friendly, and even though I think the CA bag law is a little ridic, it's pretty cool that they donate 5 cents to a charity of your choice when you bring your own bag. New Earth market has a great selection of groceries and it's also my favorite lunch spot in Chico. The sandwiches are delicious and all of the deli options are yummy too. The coffees, teas and smoothies make our whole family happy and we love the Hope cookie! I've also enjoyed breakfast there and the beautiful and fresh salad bar. The staff are so friendly and professional and willing to help guide you on groceries, produce, vitamins and more. We enjoy sitting outside and the indoor area is great too. I have been on the fence about shopping here- I love the fact that they have sushi from Japanese blossom! But they people that work there are always low energy rude and grumpy! I'm so sick of it! This morning was the last day I'll be going back! I have had sandwiches made wrong multiple times because they are not listening to me and it feels like they'd rather get back to food prep. I have given New Earth chance after chance for the past 4 years. I was a customer since they first opened up the 2nd branch here in Chico. Today was the last straw. I bought sushi and Ph water and was checked out by the very tall, gangly Mexican looking cashier (don't know her name). She tried to get a rubber band around the 3 specialty rolls to secure them but it didn't fit so she smashed down the top lid onto the sushi stubbornly trying to make it fit. I asked her to not smash the sushi, and she rolled her eyes at me and slid them in my direction and tossed me a rubber band... I guess she wanted me to do it. Then I said I need a bag because they sometimes leak a little juice from the pickled ginger, and she grabbed a roll without a rubber band on it and put it sidewise to fit into a little bottle paper bag like you would see from a liquor store. The sushi didn't fit so she started shaking it trying to get it to slide in the bag as I was watching the roll fall apart. I said, can you not put in sushi sideways, it has ingredients at the top. She then aggressively took a bag as if she was throwing a fit and took the roll out of my hand with out rubber banding them and put them in and before my girlfriend was even out of the way she started ringing up another customer and sliding their items into my bag. She was clearly offended that I asked her not to destroy my sushi. My girlfriend felt very uncomfortable and told me, "I don't want you to take me here anymore" Previously I have had issues with employees telling me I was wrong when I told them the sushi roll was missing ingredients, they said I was wrong when if you look on the label, it clearly says the missing contents in the box. They refused to look at the label when I was showing it to them and doubled down I was wrong. I sent them a feed back contact form from their website and have never heard back. I previously was asked about politics by a cashier and then the lady before me turned around and told me I deserve to be shot for going to a Trump rally. The list goes on and on. There are great employees there that understand how to do their job and what customer service is. But there are also plenty on the opposite side of the spectrum. After consistently having my mood changed from happy to pissed off going to this store more than a dozen times, I have decided enough is enough. If you want to treat me like a nuisance with no respect, I can shop elsewhere since my money is clearly of no interest to you. New Earth has no idea how to treat customers. I don't need much; ring me up, listen to me when I have a concern, don't argue with me, and don't destroy my sushi while trying to bag it... Not too hard. read more

Today I had the most uncomfortable shopping experience. I came by new earth to get a sandwich for lunch from the food bar. After ordering the sandwich me and my boyfriend walked to the health and beauty dept to check out their incense selection. We were smelling the incense and one of the workers asked if she could help us. We told her we were just looking for now. She said "okay" and rolled her eyes as she walked away. Then I saw her pointing to us as she was talking to the front cashiers. She even begun to obviously follow us around the store even after we were checking out at the register to finally pay for our drinks and sandwich. It was a terrible experience that otherwise could have been enjoyable. I was being watched the whole time and was made to feel like I was doing something wrong when I was simply walking around and checking things out in the store. Terrible customer service and extremely uncomfortable and awkward experience. Very unprofessional. She looked like a manager and that isn't how a manager should treat customers. Overall I like this market. I just moved from San Diego and miss Sprouts. This is probably the closest thing to it nearby, but more expensive. Obv there is inflation but my husband and I spend about $1200/month here and we mostly cook all meals from scratch which seems nuts. Although that does include multi-vitamins and protein powder which are expensive on their own. I've been going weekly for a few months now. A couple big cons are that the produce is often on its way out, or doesn't last 5 days when I get it home, and the bread selection is almost non-existent. Every week I have to supplement my bread purchase and some produce with a Safeway trip. Most people working there are nice. There is this one girl who always moves on to the next customer in line after my husband pays and I'm still finishing bagging which I think is rude. She doesn't offer us a discount for bringing our own bags. If those things would bug you too then just make sure you finish bagging before you pay and remind the cashier that you get a discount for bringing your own bags. Then head to another store for bread lol. read more

Can't really go wrong here except some things like produce are a tad pricey, but I understand they have to make money on it, where the chain stores take losses on organic produce. Bread today was stale. Wasn't exactly cheap either. Looked on the package for an expiration date, but there was no date listed anywhere on the package. Also dealt with a little attitude from an employee that I don't usually get in Chico (or anywhere else) - just a smirk and a stare that made me feel I wasn't welcomed, or maybe that he hated his job, or both. Regardless, I don't see this place lasting very long in this area with their high prices. The sandwiches are pretty good, but very high priced. And here, too, the bread is often stale. I don't know why, but I think this is a problem in Chico when you're trying to get a sandwich. People are either too cheap to throw stale merchandise away, or they think nobody will notice. I want to love this place, I really do! I like shopping here, great place to get gluten free, vegan,organic foods as well as a great selection supplements and cbs. Always somebody offering to help out with choosing the right supplements. Rolling stone pizza is good too, cauliflower crust is and awesome gluten free and ＫＥＴＯ alternative. Loss of 2 stars for the weak hot food bar. It Always looks a little sad, and is rarely labeled, and for how pricey it is by lb....kind of a turn off. It would also be nice to know about Allergens in each item (label gluten free, vegan, nut free, etc). I like the store, but I'm only gonna give it three stars because customer service is not good. They never used to ask for proof for the gym membership discount and they started asking for it. I didn't know they needed proof, so I didn't come prepared. So I got denied the discount, as someone who spend hundreds of dollars there each month, I would have expected a one time pass since this was a new rule, but they flat out denied me receiving the discount.
