Went to the Mangrove location today 8/6 only to find out they're out of mayonnaise. WHAT bakery/sandwich shop would be out of mayo. I mean any store/bakery making sandwiches should have gallons of it. The Chef Store and Safeway are two blocks away and I would think any owner/manager wouldn't want to lose customers for a basic ingredient of almost any sandwich. I asked if the Esplanade store might have mayo and they said maybe they still had some. Maybe?? LOL! Ended up at a different bakery for sandwiches. read more

One of our go to locations to grab a quick sandwich order. We usually visit the store on Forest and occasionally the one on Esplanade. At the Forest store the staff is quick and courteous. We usually just get bread on Esplanade, so I have had less interaction with the staff. There isn't a lot of seating, so we generally just do a takeout order rather than eating there. They have a wide selection of bread and some giant cookies that are really good. read more

I purchased the Honey Whole Wheat sliced loaf bread. Great customer service. And, the ambiance was the smell of bread. Such clean ingredients my favorite. read more

Great Harvest Bread Co - Bakeries Near Me - Chico, California

I was waiting here for more than 20 minutes for an order, and first they told me that they were already working on it, 22 more minutes passed and I called another person to ask about the order and she told me that she was already going to prepare it, it is unfair that they play with one person's time read more

Chico local, been buying bread here for 10+ years. Bought 2 Cinnabrust bread this morning. We cut a couple pieces for the kids first and then cut one for ourselves. First bite made us wonder if we were eating week-old bread. Even the kids wouldnt finish their slices. Absolutely unacceptable for a bakery. They claim they ran out of bags and the bags they used contributed to make it still. Brought them back to the store and the lady at the register told us they were not from today and that someone should have told us. They said they have instructions from new owners not to accept return if cut. Definitely poor customer service. They certainly lost a long time customer. read more

Really yummy place! Just so you know they do have a Peet's coffee in here. They also close 30 min early. I went in for a sandwich at 3:36pm on a Saturday but they said they stop making sandwiches at 3:30pm. read more

It's fine LOL there's nothing special about them except for their salted caramel brownies. Those are the best brownies I've ever had that I didn't make myself. My fiance couldn't believe how insanely good they were! When you order online, expect them to call you that they don't have something that it said they had in stock. Almost anytime I pre-ordered, I get a call that they don't have such and such. It's quite annoying that they can't properly keep up on their stock like literally anywhere else I order from an advance which is anywhere I'm going to pick up food from, where I am not dining in. It's a nice location though, out of the way from all of the idiots of this area which is plentiful, it's nice and dark in there which I like. Can't stand bright cafes or I just want to wear sunglasses and then instantaneously leave due to how uncomfortable it is. read more

The bread is very good but the blond girl behind the counter was overtly rude to me. I had to repeat myself numerous Times And tolerate her Eye rolling and deep sighs. I had to Wait to have the other pleasant girl rewrap sandwich so we could share while driving. If I hadn't wanted the bread I would have left. There were no other patrons in the store. A shame that she hasn't learned to be Polite and helpful when serving a Paying customer. read more

I always buy my bread & cookies here when I'm in town. Everything is consistent and made daily. A great place to pick up treats if visiting a friend as well! read more

Seems that the quality of staff, food and professionalism has declined in the last months has anyone else noticed or is it just me ?

The lady on the phone who took my order was Very rude and corrected me when I made a mistake On the condiments , I wanted on my sandwich, She also was very rude when I went to the establishment to pick up my items and ask for coffee. They are dressed sloppy, and they need to learn proper etiquette for customer service. read more

worst sandwich I have ever eaten. first sandwich the girl forgot to put the turkey on the turkey sandwich. the girls were chatting it up and not prioritizing the customers. on top of it the place was dirty. Bathroom was gross. read more

Dirty Spicy Chai latte was delicious as well as the white chocolate mocha. We also had the cinnamon knot bread.

Best bread in Chico. Consistently great food and customer service. My go-to is the cinnaburst loaf-- works great for french toast. read more

Terrible service by the dirty blond woman with glasses. If you want people to feel welcomed please rehire someone who's kind and respectful, if she's the owner (looks older) then rethink your business awareness. As I stood close to the register unknowing of how to order, she just looked at me when I asked for the menu and pointed to the table without saying a thing. Like are you expecting me to read your mind, so rude and unpleasant service. As I went back to order, literally 4 seconds after I got the menu, she left the register and someone else helped me. Thank God! read more

Great Harvest Bread Co - Coffee stand - Bakeries Near Me - Chico, California

A bread Company that only had 2 options of bread for their sandwiches. My lettuce was black and moldy on the ends and I ordered the Italian, it had 1 slice of roast beef and 4 pieces of salami. Do not recommend and will not return. read more

Breads only, no buns. A small assortment of other pastries in the freezer section. Got a pumpkin chocolate chip bread and it was moist and delicious. White bread loaf was white bread loaf, nothing to write home about. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to pick up bread. But would definitely check out sandwiches, smelled and looked great. read more

I bought a loaf of sourdough, may be applying for a job at a later time to see if they want me to bake their sourdough for them. Seems like they need a new baker. Service was very friendly and good though. read more

Why would you open up in the morning if you have nothing to sell Nothing on the shelves went for a ham breakfast sandwich nothing The girl proceeded to tell me there is day old breakfast wheels in the refrigerator Like I am going to hey Bread store to buy day old stuff Dislocation a few years ago used to be the spot to go to Now it is by far one of the worst places and Chico to get service and to actually have food stock why would you have a bread store and have nothing on the shelves when you open up in the morning does not make sense to me if I wanna day-old stuff I would just swing by Safeway and buy something read more

I love me some GHBC.! It can get pretty crowded during lunch, so best to fax/call in your order if you can. Their breads, soups, sandwiches and drinks are all GREAT : ) Their seating area is a little compact, but in the warmer months, they also have a few seats outside. If you haven't tried GHBC before, I suggest you do. read more

Absolutely wonderful customer service from Heather!! She took care of me and my coupon that wasn't normally accepted at this location but she went above and beyond to make this customer happy! Unlike the mangrove location lol, they were horrible. this location was great read more

When we were passing through Chico, I pulled up yelp to find a local treasure. I was shocked to find not one but 3 GHB's in the city. Happy Birthday to me...literally (we were headed to Lake Almanor for Birthday weekend camping). And yes. I know it's a chain but that doesn't count when it originates in your home state :) Even with the mass expansion, the restaurant is still good. It was fun being able to unexpectedly introduce some of my food history to the kids. The sample bread slice they gave us while ordering is smaller than what I remember from Butte, MT (but still hearty). I usually get one of the sweeter breads as my sample and save it for dessert. However, as a family, we each got a different flavor and cut up the slices to make a fun sample platter appetizer. I can't remember our exact orders but I know I got the Southwestern Turkey on the Dakota bread (my go-to bread choice) and my husband's plate was clean before I had a chance to steal a bite. We'll definitely make Chico stop when we're passing through in the future! read more

Not sure what is going on at this location. Came in just after 8 am to pick up coffee and a panini. All four employees looked hung over. Both the females had a cold, disinterested demeanor. One of them wouldn't even make eye contact with me, even though I was standing 3 feet from the counter while she was standing at the register. Even though there was only one other customer, everyone was moving like pond water. The mocha was terrible and tasted like watered down hot cocoa with a splash of instant coffee. The panini I ordered to go was good, which somewhat offset the rest of my experience this morning. It had been some time since I was there. I was very surprised since Great Harvest was always prompt, friendly and quality. read more

I really like sandwiches- all types. Great Harvest is great. I love the options and how nice everybody is. I typically stick to the Italian because it is so yummy but I recently ventured to the chimichurri roast beef sandwich. Flavors were great and as always, the bread was fresh and just so good! read more

I walk into great harvest and immediately i was not treated by the girl in the front. I just brushed it off and started to order my food. she had a butterfly tattoo on the inside of her for arm and her hair was dirty blonde. She was so inconsiderate and mean. 0-10 don't recommend because their workers are rude. read more

The coffee is the best in Chico without a doubt. The sandwich's are also never a bad idea to grab.

As much as I love Great Harvest's bread and food personally, I have to give them one star for the way my husband and I were treated when we came across a problem during lunch one day. We had sandwiches. Mine was great, his had a bread tie (metal wire with most of the paper missing) in his that stabbed his upper gum and got stuck. He had to remove it, but it was swollen and pained him for days. We handed the bloody bread tie to a lady who seemed less than impressed (because this must happen all the time!) and she offered us a cookie. We didn't want a cookie, we wanted an apology and for her to speak with her employees about paying more attention when preparing food. She told me there was nothing she could do besides give us a free cookie.... I still want to eat here because I love the food, but it's unnerving knowing you may get stabbed with a foreign object and no one will care. read more

I'll keep this review in chronological order, from great to not so great. --High quality ingredients -- in house homemade bread --smells like Great-Grandmas house if your Great-Grandma made bread instead of playing online poker. -- love being able to write down your sandwich order on the provided menu. Less likely the sandwich maker will make a mistake on your "no pickled jalapeño" demand. --this particular location is lovingly located next to the awesome Bidwell Park. Perfect place for a picnic. --a little pricey --wish the size of sandwiches were larger. About the size of my arm like Subway. read more

It's like heaven between two slices of bread. I love me a good sandwich, and this place hits the spot. However, I knocked off one star --- Sometimes the bread doesn't taste so fresh and it's gross. But when it does, it's worth the five stars! read more

The bread is so fresh and so so tasty. I like that they let you sample the breads so you know exactly what you're buying. Their sandwiches are great because they come with that bread that I was just talking about. Great little Chico spot! read more

Stopped here on the way to Lake Almanor. The store closes at 5:30 p.m, but they stop serving sandwiches around 4 p.m. On top of that the coffees that we ordered tasted burnt; not like what any of Peet's blends typically taste like (and trust me, the fiance and I have tried it all). 2 stars because the person behind the counter was nice (offered us some bread while we were waiting for the coffees to be ready), but 0 for everything else. read more

Every Monday morning, my family and I like to go have coffee or breakfast..we live near Great Harvest and so we decided to try it out. The customer service was HORRIBLE..I actually left the place feeling depressed and irritated by the two girls and their major attitude. My mocha was not of Peet's quality and my bread seemed really doughy. Just to make sure I wasn't imagining, I came back the following week..same deal. I will not be going back besides maybe to pick up a sandwhich (I heard they are good).. If the manager is reading this..time to train your morning ladies on customer service and kindness. read more

Love this place! I love good bread and this place KNOWS what good bread is. I usually come here right before work and I love that the place is always clean and staff members are ready to help me. Their scones are amazing. I think I've tried all and my favorites are: pumpkin, mixed berry, and strawberry cheesecake. My coworkers love their salted caramel brownies. Some items may be seasonal which I think is great because you're bound to try something new each time you go there. read more

I am a little disappointed. I came in for a sandwich today. Not busy at all and I stood at the sample counter for a sample and was ignored twice. Right after I ordered I stood there for like 5 minutes and then my sandwich came so I sat down and ate it then after I stood there again the girl walked up said hi then walked away. So I left. I was a little pissed. I may have bought some sweet treats if I was not ignored. The sandwich okay. I will not go there again. Maybe go to the other locations. This was at Forest location. read more

Great harvest has some amazing food. I love that you can taste some of their freshly made bread. The bread is also pretty affordable if you want to get a whole loaf. The only bad thing is that they do take a long time to get your food out when you order a hot sandwich. That is why they get four out of five stars. read more

Only been here twice...wow! The bread is absolutely great. Doesn't matter which one I've tried. Can't say anything about the sandwiches because the bread is so good I don't want to spoil it with any additions. Not cheap, but an average price for a bakery. I'm so sorry I live so far away. read more

Can be busy on Wed mornings with the nearby jr high school students there. I was waiting in line when some guys walked in behind me. They were recognized by an employee who grabbed at item for them and ushered them in front of me to be served quicker. Not exactly great customer service (from my point of view). I wonder what you have to do to get that kind of service. read more
