I popped into Great Harvest for the first time today! For being about 12:30 on a Friday, I was surprised at how empty the place was. There were two baskets by the door with clipboards, one for salads and one for sandwiches. The clipboards for sandwiches were gone, despite only one other person ahead of me, so I had to wait to start ticking off my order. Once I brought my completed form to the register, I paid and waited less than 5 mins to receive my order. The good? The bread was super fresh! The minor bummer? There were no options for rolls, sliced bread only, and no option to toast the sliced bread. This is a bakery that offers lunch options; I think I prefer my sammies from a true deli, with fresh sliced meat piled high. At $13.75 for Pastrami & Swiss on sourdough, I would have expected a bit more bulk. I would consider Great Harvest in the future for baked goods, but likely go elsewhere for a sandwich.

Delicious turkey, cranberry, cream cheese on sourdough.

The sandwiches are well-made and satisfying. Much better than the sandwiches I can make for myself, and the ingredients are fresh and fantastic. The staff is friendly, and the bakery is a great addition to add stuff to your sandwich order.

Chico Chicken Salad

I was looking for someplace to eat lunch on Monday and I had always seen this place as I was driving down Esplanade but figured they were more of a bakery than someplace that also offered delicious lunch items as well. I used the online ordering system they had and my order is as follows; a Chico Chicken Salad on Sourdough, a Tim Buc More on Sourdough and then a Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Loaf as well as a Cinnaburst Loaf. I added a Salted Caramel Cookie onto my order before finishing as well. I waited the alotted time and headed in. I picked up a big bag of food and headed home to eat. The place was pretty cool inside, you could see all of the bakery processes going on from behind the register. They had two young employees that looked like they were hard at work as well as a couple people ordering. I got home and everything was in the back except for the Cookie! At $2.50 a cookie I was definitely going to call back just to let them know. They had told me they sold out earlier and could offer me a refund. I was actually going to come back and grab a different flavor if there was one available but they insisted on a refund so I opted with that. I guess it would have been nice to know the cookie wasn't in the bag prior to getting home but they must have forgot. Anyways! On to the food! That Chicken Salad sandwich was FRESH! Even down to the toppings, i mean that was one of the freshest Chicken Salads i've had for lunch out here! Outstanding! The panini was toasted to perfection and was packed with flavor! After eating lunch, I felt full, but none of it was heavy and left me feeling lethargic. This was a great way to start my day, thank you guys so much!

Where's the beef?!

WHERE'S THE BEEF?! It seems Great Harvest has lost its pizazz when it comes to making sandwiches. Check out the photo...where's the beef?! It was one of those things you order on the phone, run in, grab and go back to work. Only to find the sandwich is not what was expected. In day's past I looked forward to going to Chico for the sandwiches here. It has been a while so I was excited to say the least, only to be disappointed. I'll try it again but without expectations of days gone by. Good luck

Slow, took 20 min to pickup a preordered sandwich and smoothie. Great bread but when they're slammed they're slammed

Great freshly baked breads! The cheddar garlic bread was so good. Didn't last very long. Love the curbside pickup too.

But step inside and you'll find an impressive variety of wraps, smoothies, juices, tacos, superfoods, warm dishes, pastries, espresso drinks and plenty of vegan options. Last winter, their chicken tortilla soup was outstanding--rich, comforting, and full of flavor. On my most recent visit (02/21/2026), I ordered a grilled chicken wrap loaded with alfalfa sprouts, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, olives, hummus, corn, and cayenne pepper. It was genuinely delicious--a word I don't use lightly for food in Chico. The ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, portions were generous, and prices were very reasonable. I also tried the "Monkey Power" smoothie with hemp seeds, white chocolate powder, peanut butter, and banana--wow, it was amazing. I truly appreciate the wide selection of vegetables, fruits, superfoods, and nourishing options they offer. Fresh Twisted Cafe has absolutely become one of my favorite spots in Chico.

I have one word. WOW Came to Kona's while dropping my…read moredaughter off to Chico State. We ordered their two most popular sandwiches. These puppies are big, very tasty, and absolutely filling. I can't believe I only paid $11 per sandwich. The sandwiches are like submarine style sandwiches. I think it was about 20" long and stuffed with everything you can imagine. Now, compare that to a subway sandwich. If I gave subway a 5/10, Kona's would be a 10/10. A completely different playing field and in my opinion, blows others away easily. I don't want to go into detail on just the two sandwiches we devoured since their menu is extensive and not to mention, their specials were very good. Staff and owner are extremely friendly. They seem to know many customers by first name. My plan is to visit my daughter and to continue to support Kona's The place is very nice. There are many tables both tall and small. And a ping pong table. A very comforting place. The owner came by and chatted with us. A very nice and positive person. No doubt, 5 stars. Please come and support the small business.

The host told us they didn't have any roses but came out with a little bouquet! For the dinner part, we were expecting a little more. The complimentary cornbread wasn't great in our opinions, but I'm sure others may like it. It's clearly homemade and comes with 3 different butters to put on top. We ordered the Salmon and Smashburger and they were both definitely over priced for what it tasted like. The salmon didn't have a lot of seasoning so it sort of tasted like something we'd give our cat. The sweet potato's on that dish were also not the best. The smashburger, in my opinion, would've tasted better if I got it from In N Out across the street. The entire burger just tasted like meat..no seasoning and there was maybe a drop of their aioli on the burger so all in all it just wasn't the best. I would've had a better experience at In N Out. We also ordered the Wagyu meatballs and never received them. We thought it was taking a minute to cook but all we got instead was the check..he didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert. We had wanted to check out their dessert menu and possibly get their strawberry shortcake but I guess that wasn't in the cards for us. We also ordered a cocktail and mocktail. My wife's mocktail (Kava Mule) was great! My cocktail (Horchata Mai Tai) was genuinely the strongest drink I've ever had. The flavor was nice if you could get past the amount of Bacardi they poured in there. Every drink I took felt like I was taking a shot. So with all that being said, unfortunately we won't be returning to Rancher's Daughter. Between the bland and expensive food, the forgotten about meatballs, the check rushed to our table, and the drinks..it's just the not the place for us.

We really had high hopes but were let down. We shared the complimentary corn bread, the arancini, and the hummus crudite. I had the turkey Thanksgiving dinner plate and my husband had the tri tip Thanksgiving plate. The starters were okay - cornbread was a very light texture and the butters that came with it weren't that good. The arancini was fine, just nothing too special but didn't come out very hot. The hummus didn't taste like much and came with a ton of bell peppers, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, and some pita. The turkey dinner was not good. The mashed potatoes and the turkey were okay. The root vegetable medley was not good and the stuffing was terrible, it was so mushy and weird. The gravy on the mashed potatoes already had a film over it like it had been sitting out for a while and was not hot at all. I also got an espresso martini that was not good. My husband got the horchata Mai tai - he liked it. My husband said the tri tip was okay but overall the plate was disappointing. They also mentioned on the phone that they would give us a complimentary dessert for my husband's birthday but never brought anything out. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a busy night and might give them another chance with their regular menu entrees but I don't have high hopes.
