Walking in the front door, I was welcomed right away. It's a very nice shop with some sit-down tables and a very clean appearance. I ordered a hot pastrami sandwich with mustard on a 6-inch sourdough roll, with no other toppings. Sourdough seemed to be the only bread option. When I received the heated sandwich, the roll was perfectly toasted. The 6-inch sandwich was $11.49. There wasn't much meat on it, but then again, I didn't order any fillers. The price seemed a little high. I think the largest sandwich they sell is 8 inches. Hmm, where is the foot-long? They also sell soups and salads. The next time I go, I will try their brisket. My only hope is that the brisket isn't sliced like the pastrami but rather carved meat. I will definitely go again. It's located right next to Safeway on Mangrove.

Albeit a bit pricey, I've always enjoyed anything that I've ever ordered. I'll definitely return.

Waited in line for the free sandwich and it was worth it! This is a step above all other SAMICH shops as it's "in the bread,!"

Broth was really good, and it kept warm from the flame on the bottom. We had kids with us, so we got there an hour before it became 21+. Everyone was friendly, the food came pretty quick relative to how hopping it was. We ordered: Pho-rench dip (w/fries)--I think this was a DDD sandwich, so it's not some hidden gem, but it was super tasty. You cannot go wrong. The slight lime-iness of the dipping broth really kicked it into turbo. Also, we all likes the steak fries--a note on that later. Chicken Cheese Steak (w/fries)--my wife loved it. I tried a bite, and it was great--a little mushroom-forward, but we like that. Mac and Cheese--do not be fooled by the slightly smaller bowl, it is very filling. My son can eat his birth weight in pasta, and he had to tap out! I tried a bite--it was creamy (not grainy at all), and was just the right amount of salty and cheese-funky. Grilled cheese and tomato soup (w/fries)--perhaps the least successful for my family, but only because my daughter prefers a smoky/spicy tomato soup, and this was more on the sweet side. The griled cheese was of the "crispy cheese on the outside" ilk, which my daughter thought was really good. So, totally would go again. IMPORTANT NOTE (to people traveling through Chico, or who don't want to take leftovers)--the sandwiches are pretty big, and the add-on fry order is also sizeable. If we were going again tomorrow, we would either order 1 fry instead of 3. Or split a sandwich. Very very good pub.

The broth I think tastes the same so that's good. However, I noticed that the beef slices were so much tougher and dryer now. Previously, the slices were thin and slightly rare when coming out so they weren't over done. Now, the cuts are thick and chunky and much tougher to chew. Interestingly, they just dump the cilantro into the soup directly rather than have it on the side for you to garnish. They still provide a sizable pieces of tripe, which I like. The tendon is smaller and not as big chunks as before. Sadly, I left a bit disappointed. I might try again in another couple of months to see if they return to the previous level of quality.
