Mar-Val is a great non Walmart spot to go. I think the quality of their produce and meats are better, plus they aren't a big chain. I am into shopping local. The store is clean and well stocked as it should be. The employees care a ton about what they do and are always there to help. They have everything you're looking for and the prices are great. Small town grocery store with a super deli that makes a good, fresh sandwich. Lots of meat, cheese, bread and condiment choices.

Got 3 vanilla and 3 chocolate cupcakes today for a birthday gathering. They were awful. They were the DRYEST and practically rock -hard cupcakes we have ever "eaten". Even the frosting was tough. Come on, just throw them away instead of selling them --worst $6 I've spent. read more

The manager is rude and hostile. I saw him treat a customer poorly over something the store priced wrong. He needs anger management especially is he is running the store. The customer was disabled and he refused help. He screamed and lost control. read more

Store is very neat, fully stocked, clean. The butcher & seafood displays are nicely set up and appealing. Every Monday they offer specials on meats and other products. Staff is helpful as well. Plenty of parking with handicapped accessible slots. There is also a nice deli and bakery on site. The one draw back is they are somewhat overpriced and I feel they take advantage of the rural area as far as prices go. I try not to go there unless I absolutely have to. read more

Wow, I do believe this store has the trophy for rudest employees! I visited from out of town and was shocked at the filthiness of the store and then I was even more shocked when I checked out, the customer service is non existent. I'm not sure how they are in business other than it's one of the only grocery stores in town other than Walmart. read more

They need to have the butchers change their gloves when they come out of the back room to help you. They've touched several things on the way to help you including doors, the counter, and sometimes different meat. I won't purchase meat from them anymore. The last time was when the guy helped a customer with the stuffed chicken breasts, and came to help me with the lean burger. No changing of the gloves at all. They've done this several times, and cross contamination can get people sick. They need to learn to wash their hands, and change gloves. I do enjoy shopping there, and do it several times a month, but not the meat anymore. I go to the butcher shop in Orland, for my meat now. It's pretty sad they can't get it right back there with the complaints I have reported to the cashiers, and I know others have also complained. read more

Mar-Val is a terrific store. They have the best meat in town, offer good services and excellent local produce. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Once, right before a holiday, I went there for a meat thermometer. They happened to be out. The butcher ACTUALLY LOANED ME THEIRS! Now that is fantastic service. Then, ON TOP OF ALL THIS, they really support our community! They have fundraisers, allow fundraising containers to be put out, donate to local programs - like candy for the Willows Rotary Easter Egg Hunt! read more

I'll give the Deli five stars. I'll give the Meat Department 5 stars. The Produce earns 4 stars. The Bakery is 3 stars. (The Bakery used to be a five stars. I've gotten some spoiled items recently.) The prices are high on most other items, but it's easier to pick up a few items at the local store than it is to wait in line at Walmart. read more
