Visited May 26 2026. See my receipt. While checking out some land I noticed there was a Safeway in Gridley! Surprisingly they had a deli inside as well! Hot and cold food and made to order sandwiches. Even the Grass Valley on Mill street doesn't have a deli! I picked up a few things ( half off on a steak!)...salads..energy drinks..wine.. and more. Friendly and helpful baggers there! Nice experience. BTW.. THEY HAVE A PHARMACY INSIDE SAFEWAY! read more

Preordering my Snack Packs in the Deli they were always so nice when taking my orders and were always ready for pickup

Clean, Good Variety of Products, Excellent Customer Service For being a Big Chain Grocery Store, Gridley Safeway is an Excellent addition to our Community. Their food variety and cuts of meat is wonderful. Their store cleanliness and isle offerings are awesome and clearly marked. I shop here all the time. Can I go somewhere cheaper? Probably. But not when you factor in driving distance (gas) and the cost of your time. I think their prices considering all things is reasonable and in line with other grocers. At first I wasn't a big fan of the changes made to what's on what isle. (Admittedly I don't like change). Once I got used to the new layout and where everything is, it made sense. The store is organized efficiently and I now love where everything is at. As far as value, I honestly don't think it can be beat within a 25-30 mile range and their customer service is definitely unbeatable. read more

The night shift cashiers are extremely rude, they make you feel unwelcome! It's usually young females thinking they're somebody!

Overall is a great store but the new cashier that works nights is awful. Hispanic older lady. She is nice to Hispanic customers but rude with white customers. I have noticed this behavior 3 times since shopping there. I refuse to use her line or will walk out if I see she is the only cashier. read more

I went shopping on Sunday. How can you not have any eggs? The shelf was barren. The bananas were spotted and over ripe. There weren't any cans Coke Zero, in the whole store!! There wasn't any Aquafina, either. The shelves are empty. On the up side. The employees are very helpful and polite. I am grateful for having a Safeway close by. Come on Corporate, help your little store in the little town of Gridley and stop treating them like a red headed step-child. read more

Deep fried pork stuffed Bun . It is so delicious, like a deep fried pillow of deliciousness stuffed with pork . I recommend you get the lil sides of baby rays bbq sauce for dipping.. I made the mistake of getting one bun the first time . I recommend getting at least two buns one side sauce of baby rays bbq sauce ., your mouth is in for a taste of Happy read more

the female manager is rude and treats people like criminals for expecting their pricing to be correct. and lies about promotions and talks inappropriately about other employees in front of customers. but even worse - they wont even ask ppl to wear masks or distance. i encountered no less than 5 groups or individuals not wearing masks at 4pm on a thursday. almost half of the people there. i asked ....isn't it law. they said yes. i said then won't you talk to them. they said no - management wont allow them to even ask people to wear them aka follow the law. i guess this is why they have had a covid outbreak directly from employees there. they just lost a life long customer who spent over 1k/mo there. read more

There isn't a worse grocery store than this one! On three different visits there was expired product on their shelves. Not a little expired - one product was two MONTHS expired and another was THREE MONTHS EXPIRED! MANAGEMENT IS AWARE of the problem and apparently cannot fix it. I go to this Safeway at least one to two times a week and am always happy with what they have in stock, how clean the store is, how nice the employees are, and how fast I can get in an out most of the time, even when it's busy. read more

I shop at Safeway and in the past had occasionally picked up their deli fried chicken as a quick fix dinner on a busy night. I had given up on it after repeated times of getting it home and finding the chicken so overcooked that it had dried to the bone. I found the rotisserie chicken somewhat less cooked and would get that instead. Well tonight the rotisserie chicken was gone so I broke down and got the fried chicken and when I got home to eat it was pleasantly surprised to find it fried perfectly not overcooked and very juicy inside. I'm not sure if they have new staff in the deli that are better cooks or enough people complained but I'm very happy its changed so keep up the work corning needs you read more

I once ordered a Thanksgiving dinner from them. The person who took my order didn't realize they weren't going to be ready by the date I needed it. When I went to pick up the order the mistake was found and the manager took me around the store and picked out everything I needed to complete my dinner. It was all free of charge they didn't charge me for the dinner at all. Most I guess it was because it was their mistake. Now that's what I call customer service. read more

About 99% of the time, excellent service. I can usually always find someone to ask where to find something and they'll walk me to the aisle or tell me where it is. The only problem I've had was with one of their supervisors where the supervisor, an older gentleman with a lazy eye was ringing me up at the register, stopped dead in his tracks to talk to an employee who was on his way out the door, probably off work, to correct him on what he did wrong during his shift. Luckily the employee had some balls and said something like "talk to me when I'm on the clock." It didn't at all sound like the supervisor was "correcting" the employee, it sounded more like belittling to make himself look like he's in charge in front of customers which was completely unprofessional. I now refuse to go in his line but other than that, nothing but good experience there. read more

I love going to the Safeway Deli for their sandwiches but lately it's been shit. I don't like to point fingers but everytime I get the same man my sandwich is done wrong. Everyone who works here is so nice! From the deli, to the cashiers, etc. I love their fresh sandwiches from the deli, but the premade ones are kind of a let down. Their all dry, no matter what kind you get because they were premade without mayo etc. And a bit over priced for a dry "nothing special" type sandwich. But great to grab and go if you're in a hurry. I've shopped there during the holidays, crowds of people trying to find their spot in line so they can check out, and it's quite hectic, however the amazing staff puts on a smile and the lines flow thru in a timely fashion. Major kudos to an employee named Anthony. He needs a raise :) read more

SAFEWAY "DELI" - Too Bad Sav Mor in Gridley does not have a DELI... Okay so I wanted a Mortadella sandwich and they did not have any which is fine however, I picked a Sandwich they were advertising as a special. First off the gal making the sandwich had no idea what was on it and actually asked me.... then she says there is no spinach after she lays out the sandwich as If I have to change my sandwich again (I say I think you probably sell that here this is a grocery store) Waiting for the spinach to arrive for awhile from another women she asked about it.... Then while wrapping the sandwich (one could see she does not know how) the other women comes over and starts spending time training her on "how to do it". Usually when people are in training they wear a name badge that say "In Training" so customers are aware. And do we not TRAIN people while they WATCH??? Apparently Safeway could use some training on how to TRAIN employees in the first place. I get wrung up and the register does not match the price on the board. Which is pretty simple as they price all their sandwiches the same. So I tell her the price is incorrect and it takes her and the other lady another five minutes to figure out the pricing. WOW Is all I can say, it took me about 20 minutes to get a sandwich that should have taken about 5 minutes from making it to ringing it up! I love that there is a Safeway in this area since this is a small town and we don't have many options around. But they carry pretty much everything you could need and also I love the convenience of having Wells Fargo inside so banking is a breeze. They always have sales going on inside the store and the deli makes amazing sandwiches. I seriously love them. They also have other food items that are amazing as well. American and other ethnic choices. The customer service has always been great and since I've been coming here from 2009, I haven't had a single problem. It's wonderful to have a place open until midnight in this area that carries so many items. The closest city with bigger stores is either oroville or yuba city, so for those who live here or live oak, it's a life saver! read more

I was so happy to find this on the side of the 99 freeway on my drive up to Chico. We needed to pick up flowers for a friend's party, and I needed to grab something "healthy" to eat, as I didn't expect the party to accommodate. Anyway, my stepdad found beautiful potted roses and I quickly found a meal for myself in the deli. Staff was nice enough. The store had an appropriate small-town feel. Again my local Safeway is out of the products I prefer and buy. I truly don't understand why they can't or don't keep the merchandise stocked. I end up having to drive out of town to shop and I will definitely go to a different chain of grocery store when I do. It makes no difference in speaking with store personnel, they promise to order or look into the situation but never is anything done, just false promises. read more

They were okay. My sandwich was good I got a turkey avocado on sliced wheat. Downfalls were they were out of peppercinis, and the sandwich maker was VERY unclear about the pricing where I ended up getting a bigger sandwich than I had wanted. But overall it was good. I enjoyed my sandwich and the convenience of it right off the highway is nice. read more

I used to come here every day before school to order a sandwich for lunch. Would have given the deli 4 stars until our visit today. We got to the sandwich counter a little before noon on a Sunday. The one employee they have assigned to the deli was backed up so she called for assistance. The assistant manager came in and began making our sandwiches. But she was very slow and you could tell she did not know how to make the sandwiches. That would have been understandable, but before we could even finishing ordering our first sandwich she asked us to pay for the three sandwiches we were going to have. Come on, who wants to pay for something before they even order it?! When making the first sandwich she didn't even ask if we wanted to make any changes to the sandwiches. I had to watch her and make sure it was done to our taste. And when it came time to close the sandwich she had so much difficulty, she hand tore the bread at the seam and smeared mustard and mayo all over the sandwich. And this is after I payed. Thankfully the next two sandwiches came out much better, but I am still disappointed as that first sandwich was one we bought for someone else. read more

Best place to shop in gridley perhaps not always on price (though often if you pay attention and use your coupons and membership card) the store is clean and classy with great employees the service is outstanding. Great selection/variety of foods to choose from and an emphasis on local and quality foods. The deli makes excellent sandwhiches and has fantastic meats. read more
