Inside this Market is a delicious taqueria with a large variety of authentic Mexican food. The service is excellent and the market & taqueria is always clean. Inside the market all the way in the back is a little pot of Gold. Today I got two chicken tacos with beans and rice for $7.80. I have eaten a variety of things from the menu and they never disappoint. Highly suggest if your passing through to try it. The locals all are aware of how good it is and eat there often. I don't live in Gridley but I visit every year and this market is a veritable oasis. The fresh produce is amazing and the assortment of Latino groceries (including dried beans and chilis) is incredible. And the staff is really nice too. If I weren't flying, I would bring bags of groceries home with me. And their takeout food is delicious too. Try the tamales. I think the market is much better than the restaurant next door (fyi, worst margaritas on the planet). read more

The Casa Lupe Market is a small local shop that includes some fabulous food. Stop at the butcher for fresh cuts as well as Mexican cheese. Wander to the back and choose from the many shelves of pan dulce, fresh each day. No time for a sit down meal at the restaurant next door? Pick up a burrito or some menudo from the take-out section. I hear the burritos are Butte county's best. I mostly shop for produce and chilis, which have their own aisle. The folks are nice and helpful. Love this market. read more

The tacos are good inside the grocery store, but inside the restaurant they seem to be priced far higher and are not really fitting to the atmosphere. The food took around 25 minutes to arrive which is a long time compared to buying inside the grocery side of the building. I don't think I would eat inside the restaurant again but will definitely be buying from the grocery. read more

The BEST Burritos in Butte County, I live in Chico, CA and I make it an opportunity that if i'm headed towards Gridley, that I stop and get their burritos. They're that good. I am a loyal customer and go here from out of town often. The previous workers were always kind and friendly, however I had a horrible experience the last time I went there. The girls making at the deli were extremely impatient and rude. Also they have a strict policy on their limes that just started and treated me rudely when I asked for extra limes. I am not from the area but my girlfriend insisted I try the best burritos in her home town. I'm from San Jose and she says our burritos are mediocre. Anyways, so I come to visit and she brings me for the first time. I was hooked! Now every time I come to Gridley I annoy her when I ask "can we get a burrito? Can we get a burrito?" Really rude male staff. I just gave them a call too ask about there bean prices and if they have them in stock because they always run out of the ones I like and that way I don't waste my time driving over there since I live 1 hour away and the male staff was seriously rude ! I always call and ask if they have the beans in stock and the females staff always seem to be nice and tell me the prices. Not only that he lied and said they don't give prices through phone ! This was my family's go-to mexican restaurant growing up (still is, as a matter of fact). I ate there for the first time in over a decade today (I moved away and am home visiting) and they are still churning out the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. I don't know what their secret ingredient is (I suspect maybe celery salt), but they get a salty smoky spiced flavor in their salsa that I have never even come close to anywhere else, and the char they get on their meats is just fantastically savory. Brought my husband in and he agrees- best Mexican food he's had in his life. And on top of the good food, the service is friendly and the cost is very reasonable for the quality and portion size. And don't forget to stop by their adjoining market! They have a deli that sells everything from burritos to chicharones, and fresh conchas and other baked delights, all cooked in-house. All the spices and unusual supplies you might need to channel your inner abuela, every snack or treat you may need to bribe your favorite nina/nino, and a meat selection that will make your mouth water to boot! I always pick up at least 3 big containers of the salsa to take home- I may have to freeze some because they don't have a ton of preservatives, and they may not be quite as fresh when they thaw, but still the best salsa en el mundo. (For those of you who are Gabriel Iglesias fans, this is the perfect place to fill a certain type of gift basket for a certain demographic, if you know what I mean- *wink, wink*). I went there last week, I ordered a torta and one of the employees cleaned the spoon with bare hands to take the guacamole out of it, then handled money, it was disgusting. The cutting board where they prepare the food is all dirty. They should be more cautious in the way they handle food. read more

Casa lupe is the place to go for mexican food. Great bakery awesome burritos and carnitas every weekend (get there early they sell out!) excellent tortillas best ones in town and the cheapest. Some things can be high priced but if your a native spanish speaker and want to feel more at home in gridley this is the place to shop. They'll cash checks as well at a slightly high price in some situations but still a nice thing to have and tres leches birthday cakes and pinatas! read more
