Wow, Costco pharmacy is going into quite a transformation. If you haven't been there lately, they are currently under construction in the entire pharmacy area and partially in that shopping area as well. They have the entire area blocked off currently, even the aisles that used to not be part of the part pharmacy are blocked off. I asked one of the pharmacy techs what was happening and was told they are expanding the pharmacy first floor and also building a second floor, which will house all of the pharmacists, where they will work separately. I didn't quite understand what the actual expansion was about. It seems like a lot of work to add a second story so that the pharmacists can be upstairs while the bottom level is used for pick up. Clearly, I'm a little confused on the actual reason for the 2nd story expansion. They also have a new "pay ahead via text" as well as "pick up from a locker" which I think is great. The only thing that's annoying with the lockers is, if you need council, you have to sit there and do it at the lockers at the video screen. It's just weird and will take some getting used to. However, with that said... For what it's worth, I guess it's an improvement over having to wait 20 minutes in line to pick up a prescription. Rey and Mindy, two employees in the Optical Department, went above and beyond to help me solve a lens problem with two pairs of glasses I recently purchased. They were helpful, kind, and courteous, and they showed excellent teamwork to figure out the issues with the lenses. I had been in previously to address this problem and was made to feel as though it was my eye doctor's and my own fault, and that their lens calculations were correct. After I left unhappy, I contacted my eye doctor and confirmed that my prescription was accurate, which had wasted a lot of my time. Rey and Mindy carefully examined the issues, found the errors that had been made, and fixed the problem. Kudos to them both! read more

Beware! Costco double charges on online purchases, my online purchase was for $2,700. and they cleaned out my account while I wait for them to refund my money. In the mean time because of the extra charge that I was not made aware of, I thought it was fraud being done two days later and after my order was verified shipped and on its way, so I had no choice but to alert my bank right away of the fraudulent activity on my account. This is an unbelievably bad business practice and I should have been made aware at the time of purchase and at the place where the total purchase price is listed before giving authorization for a purchase, and not on some obscure page in fine print if its even there at all. This is at the very least a deceptive business practice so.... Beware of Costco Online Purchases, It'll cost you more than you expect, way more! read more

I was in this Costco with a friend that lives in this area and I saw these frozen Shrimp Wontons. Before I only saw the frozen soups with the wontons in them, but this was just the wontons and you just microwave them. Every once in awhile I find a product at Costco that impresses me really bad or really good and I just want to let everyone else out there about it! I included a pic of the product, so you know what to look for. I did really like these, for being a frozen microwave product, so, no it doesn't taste as good as a good restaurant quality, but good for frozen and easy to make at home. You get 32 dumplings set on 4 trays of eight each. There's no other instructions other than to microwave, but it might work if you were doing a soup of some sort and just tossed them into the soup on the stove. We microwaved them and put them in bowls and then covered them with hot Thai curry soup off the stove. They made a really good addition to the soup and the noodle covers were tender and the shrimp filling did actually taste like shrimp. I think the cost was around $7.00 for the whole box of 32, so not too bad a price. I was impressed with the shrimp wontons and would get these again at my local Costco. Pick these up and give it a try! Otherwise, this Costco is pretty much like all the rest with all the same departments. The lines move fast even when they look long. read more

I went there and had my puppy with me, im trying to socialize her, and we needed to get a few household items so we decided to stop at Costco.. I couldnt leave her in the truck so I naturally walked to the door and was told no dogs allowed, no exceptions. Ok, fair enough.. A new Costco just opened up near me in Marysville and I was going to get a membership but changed my mind after my experience today. My sister had a birthday party for her son in Paradise, and asked me to pick up her 6 pizzas she had pre ordered and paid for already at the Chico Costco. I tried to enter the store and was rejected by the spiked haired woman(?) at the door. I was told I have to have a membership to buy anything at the store and would not allow me enter. I informed her my sister has the membership and had already paid for everything so I wasn't buying anything, just picking up. She refused me entry once again, and I had to call my sister in Paradise to drive down to pick the pizza up herself. I've never been a Costco kind of person cuz I don't like buying in bulk , but I gave it a shot and it has been good for a long time till this past weekend I stopped by ordered pizzas for my grandkids birthday party , I asked customer service if I can have my daughter pick up the order the next day since I was going to be getting stuff ready for birthday party , they said it was fine and ask for Don or Dan if there was and issue , but then when my doughier stopped by to pick up the payed pizzas the gave her a hard time and where rude about helping her out , I'm reconsidering renewing my membership next year , can't believe they made it a big deal read more

This Costco is hit or miss. The clothing has very little things for men such as like T-shirts or decent sweat pants that aren't some weird material made in Bangladesh. Not a big deal. The reason I drove the long commute to Costco was to get my nephew a pair of Ray Bans. But for some reason their Raybans they carry are super cheap looking and feel very cheap. I've seen better quality at the $.99 cent store. They don't say made in Italy and don't even say where they are made. I was like , ummmmm yah ok? For $109 you could at least carry some decent Ray Bans. They had none of the new styles nor any of the iconic styles that Ray Band are known for like the Aviatirs, or the Justin's. Ryan, the blonde/red head is rude and so is the old guy with a mustache. I was told by the mustache guy that if I want something in a box then it needs to be on the conveyer belt and he said it so rudely that I cried in the parking lot and another employee (nice employee named Sam) asked if I was okay. This time with Ryan, (and other times with other people) I put it on the belt and he started putting everything back into the cart. I had 14+ sleeves of bagels amongst everything else in the full cart. Why would I just put those in my car? Don't you think they would just roll around? Am I going to carry 14+ bagels in my arms? I love this store don't get me wrong, but my main complaint is the lack of consistency when buying the same item repeatedly. I paid a lot of money for a package of the sliced beef roast to make beef jerky. It used to be thicker, I made jerky last night and it was so thin. It was like paper and just fell apart. It was also extremely fatty a complete waste of $45. I am extremely unhappy. I probably won't even be able to eat it. It's like eating fat, which basically it is. Costco remains a power option for bulk food options. Those inclined to buy enough for longer periods of time Costco has the quantities. Of course food is not the only category as clothing, appliances, office supplies, well, plenty of other services are readily available. With very few competitors membership does indeed has have its merits as most likely,for those who shop regularly, the price of admission is worth the price. Chico Costco seems to provide most of the items one would expect each time they stop by. Gets crowded at certain times of the day, but not impossibly so as in some very congested locations. 4 Stars. read more

Costco's word and customer service is going down the toilet when it comes to big ticket items. We recently had a issue with a washer and dryer that we purchased. The LG washer broke after after a couple of months and it took months to get our money back. Costco put the return on LG instead of handling it themselves. We decided to buy a new Casper mattress through them as they advertised they would hall the old one away when they delivered. The mattress got delivered today and the delivery guys said there there no room on the truck to take it and to call customer service to schedule a pick up. Called customer service and acted like it's no big deal that it happens. Now we have to have the mattress in our house until Tuesday. This is false advertising and poor service. Costco lost its care for the customer. Won't be buying any big ticket items from them anymore. read more

I rarely go to Chico so I decided to take a shot and come shop here while I was there. The selection is decent but not comparable to the Costco's in Roseville, Sacramento, Bay Area. It felt more like a larger Sams Club with the same type of products with not much differentiation. They did have a decent amount of organic options available which was good to see. Parking wasn't too bad because I went during an odd time in the afternoon on a weekday. The employees were nice excluding the cashier who was downright rude. CostCo Optometry dept review: I am an infrequent CC shopper, but I asked for a recommendation via Nextdoor about having lenses replaced in my mag. glasses. Many said CC was the best! I usually go to Foreyes where I purchased the glasses....each time it is 250; if it after the 1 year warranty, or I an updated presc. I was pleasantly surprised with the knowlegible staff, hygenic surroundings and SUPER FAST turnaround (about 6 days). Because I brought in several pairs to go in shifts, to make sure I have a precise working pair at home. ANDREA exemplified the meaning of full service. she helped me decide which of my peepers looked decent, suggested a new style AND suggested a fuller focal point lens, so when I work (looking down detail work). I am trying the new field of vision and then will drop my 3 other pairs off. Now you have to understand this is a So Cal / Nor Cal thing. The residents of Chico may consider this place crowded but by my So Cal standards, this place is like a Spa. Wide isles, patient people, tasty samples. The pharmacist was helpful in explaining how to use a particular medication even tho we hadn't purchased it there. Photo service is good. Tire store is great, they have helped with a warranty repair on So Cal tires. Some people like their Hot Dogs and Pizza from the snack bar. Meats and fish, pizza and prepared chicken are all good. This place does not take credit cards, except their own, but takes checks and cash. I just realized, if you're not a CostCo member, you may not know about CostCo, or see the reason to pay to shop here. I would say the high quality meats are something that might prompt you to join. The beef is either Choice or Prime, and that's tasty eating. And the fish...I've had their halibut, Tuna and clams...all good. There are Electronics (wide screen TV anyone?) Automotive, home goods, cleaning supplies, even diamond jewelry. Now, for you impatient Nor Cal residents. Admit it. Many of you are So Cal transplants. So don't be a hater, go hug a tree.
