We've been going to the Banshee for a long while and it's a little hot in the back but nice to sit and watch a game and have some food. The portions are all so big and can be shared for sure! The fish tacos - so great, I would go back just for taco night!!! The pastrami bomb is good too a bit large and messy but yummy flavors! Drinks they are okay... don't know how much we paid but were probably over priced and seems a little watery but that's usually bar drinks around here! I used to love coming to the banshee and interacting with the bartenders but after my experience with the manager Liz here she's ruined it for me. As I was getting off work I expected to go to the banshee grab some food and a drink but as soon as I entered and asked if the Kitchen was open Liz was nothing but rude and disrespectful as I asked. When I showed her my military ID as an identification card she couldn't read so I showed her my other ID and she had told me it was expired when it clearly showed the expiration date of 2029. Idk if anyone else has had a a bad experience with this person but if so wouldn't recommend coming when she's on shift or your night won't be as great as you expect it to be. Owners should really consider who they hire because if they get more people like Liz it won't be a good time for business. read more

I am so sad to leave this review but I had the worst experience here. I have always loved coming here since I was a kid and the food is always great. Unfortunately being here as a 21+ customer has not been the same experience. The bartenders are rude, inattentive, and dismissive. No one asked if we wanted a drink and after we ordered one and wanted a second they questioned how intoxicated we were. We saw one of the bartenders spend most time talking to one patron and appeared very intoxicated. The service here has gotten so bad and it's so sad. read more

After TRIPLE-D.... Taco banh mi was good. And banh mi sandwich dip was alright. DO NOT get their coleslaw it have no flavor and I'm a little disappointed about that. They should really recreate their coleslaw recipes cause that shouldn't be too hard. If they are able to combine vietnamese fusion in their menu. Its was pretty much thinly chop bowl of cabbage and pitch of black pepper sprinkle on top of it. Sorry no picture. Wanted to see what the hype was about so tried this place it for lunch since we were moving our son into his apt for his 3rd yr. We had a party of 7 and our tab ended up being about $160 (no drinks) Had to knock off 2 stars for the long wait and overly Salted food. We waited about an hour just to get our food we ordered. I understand it was busy but over an hour was a bit much considering the 2 other tables near us got their food in a timely manner and we ordered first. Their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich was EXTREMELY salty. Tasted as if the cook poured a cup of salt in the sandwich. The coleslaw that came as a side was very watery. My BIL can normally eat salty but even this sandwich was too much for him. He was only able to eat about 1/4 if that. Waste of money ! (Didn't get a pic ) Pastrami Sandwich my husband ordered was a little on the salty side as well. Ordered the fish tacos (3 for $18) it was decent however the fish was on the very skimped / small side (more batter then fish) Build your own burger was decent still on the more salty side. Bacon Mac and Cheese and the Bacon Jalapeño Mac and cheese was good My son ordered the Pastrami Ruben and I think that was the only meal that was ordered that actually tasted good. He got the garlic fries as a side and those were decent too. (Didn't get a pic) I would possibly go back and make sure to tell the server to inform the cook to lighten up on the salt! We came to this restaurant when we were in town visiting friends. This place is self-seating, with communal tables, so we went inside to look for a seat around 7:30pm & had our IDs checked by the bouncer. Only 21+ inside for dinner hour. We ended up sitting outside & service was slow, it took about 20 minutes to get a glass of water. Once we put our food orders in though, it came really fast & was pretty good. I got the fish tacos -- yummy taste & there a decent amount of coleslaw on top, so liking mayo is a must for this one!! I really enjoyed it. My bf got the grilled cheese & tomato soup combo; he got to choose pepper jack on the grilled cheese, & it came with potato chips as well -- the meal was delicious. Coleslaw just wasn't my style; I like mine sweeter and this was more vinegar based and didn't have enough dressing. Sandwich had great bread and super tender pastrami and cheese...but that was about all I tasted. If they just added a few more veggies and a savory sauce, I think this could be amazing. The pho here is competitively the best broth in Chico. Mac and cheese is to die for. It's a good place to socialize with friends and watch a game. Depending on how busy it is, services can be a slow as to be reasonably expected. Pork tacos are decent! Essentially anything with smokeable meat is going to be delightful because they have fine tuned their signature taste in their meats. And I suspect their pho broth is derived from their brisket. The Pho-tench dip is unlike any French dip renditions I have come across. Mixed drinks are always really well made but also with a decent beer selection. The best of both worlds. Everything is good! After coming here after visiting B street..this clearly should have been my first stop! It was my first time here and I definitely will be back. The bartenders were super friendly and attentive, also patient as my friend and I wanted to order food but also wanted to have a few drinks first. There are a few TVs that had NFL playing which was nice and both bar and table seats. We did come on a Monday during the Xmas holidays, so it was pretty busy for a weekday! I got two drinks that were yummy, a dragon fruit cider and a spicy margarita and I loved both! After looking at reviews, I decided to get the Baja style fish tacos and they were amazing! I ordered two and was definitely stuffed after the two! My friends got the house salad that looked delicious and an order of fries. First visit: My boyfriend got the Pho which was incredible. We were very impressed by the presentation and the flavors, spot on. I got a burger which was delicious too. This might seem like a paid review, but I really am just a long-time enthusiastic fan and customer of 10+ years and after all the good times and great food, I think I should speak up (despite not wanting them to be any busier than they can get, lol). Whether friends or family visiting from out of town or just wanting a treat, the food is amazing and their beers on tap are rotated semi-frequently, so there's always something new to try but your mainstay will likely always be cold and ready for you. The food... you can't go wrong. Will knows what he's about and he designed a great menu. From hand-made burgers - both build-your-own and the chef-crafted - taste great, to awesome fish tacos, tasty pho and don't you dare skip the baked mac n cheese which is customizable with various fillings like bacon, jalapenos, mushrooms, etc. It's classic bar food but done beautifully. Their fries... oof, perfectly cut and fried with Cajun seasoning as an option. Of course, it is a bar first and foremost, so seating (first come, first served) can be a bit of an issue for bigger groups. In fact, I would recommend NOT coming here with a big group unless you're just drinking, its just going to be stressful waiting for seating since guests will linger to enjoy their drinks and the atmosphere. Check their hours and show up 30+ mins early to secure a table for your party if you need to sit more than 3-4, especially if there is a game on. They have two big "community-seating" tables up front by the tv's to hang with 6 (ideally) to 8 (snug) people plus sitting at the long bar (where you can also order food, just ask the friendly bartenders). Not much more to know besides that. The staff has always been great (unless you're being an overly drunk a-hole), but always professional and fair. I hope the Banshee is here to stay for a very long time. Got a side of garlic fries, those were better than both tacos. Kids ordered burgers and the enjoyed them. Service was prompt, our waiter was nice. It was pretty dark inside, even for being daylight outside. Some more lighting on the dining side would have been nice. Wouldn't visit again, wouldn't recommend friends to come, at least not for the price ($104 after tax, included 3 fountain drinks and one mixed drink). What we got I wouldn't consider a good value. First time in Chico and saw that this bar had some pretty strong ratings. It also helps that this establishment is open later and has a pretty laid back vibe. Bartenders were very helpful and friendly. The person helping me took the time to review the menu and go over which items were popular. Decided to order one of their double IPA's and Philly Cheese Steak with fries. I believe there was an additional charge for the fries, but if you went with coleslaw, it would have been less costly. The food was actually good, I went with the half size and it was very sizable as well as filling. It was really hot, which tells you everything is made very fresh and this plate came with a pickle slice. Cost wise, I was in the $14-$16 area with tip, which is not bad at all.
