Mother's Day specials and the Granny on the Rocks cocktail! Yum!
    Janae F.

Me and my mom came here for Mothers Day. What a great experience! All the staff were very friendly and happy to explain the new history of the establishment and the menu items! We tried the Granny on the Juice and the Julius Beaver cocktails and a couple of the mothers day food specials and have nothing but good things to say about it all. Plus the band was amazing! Thank you!

The liquor cabinet ;) they do tastings!

Such good drinks!! The bartenders do a great job with all their cocktails, and they use the whiskey & spirits made right here in Chico! They do tastings too if you want to buy a bottle. Rn they're serving these hazelnut cocktails that are a twist on classic drinks. So frikkin good! I had the hazelnut whiskey sour and hazelnut vodka lemon. I didn't expect it as a flavor combo but wowwww .. absolutely delicious!! They're serving soup in bread bowls too. One is vegan chilli, the other is clam chowder. It's a chill environment with soft low lights where you can actually have a conversation cuz they don't blare music hella loud.

Halfway through my lavender lemon drop.

Designed to look like an old west bar inside an industrial building, and done well! We enjoyed the $6 watermelon lemon drop cocktail special with the huge door wide open to let in a nice breeze. Got some delicious Tri-tip and carnitas tacos from the pop-up vendor out back. Was a wonderful alternative to the crowded and loud option across the way. We were able to enjoy conversation among people we hadn't seen for years. The bartender was friendly and had seeded and pressed the watermelon juice herself!

Love this place! We came for opening day and always visit when in town. The owner is a charming curmudgeon in the best way and the drinks are amazing. We live in the Bay Area and have family in Chico and this tasting room is one of the most welcoming environments we have ever visited. It's a great spot where you really do feel like family. Andrew, behind the bar, makes amazing cocktails. Definitely a must visit! Oh, and make sure to grab a bottle of Honey Run Whiskey or the Beaver Likker Moonshine. They're both delicious!

Always a great time here. Frank was extremely knowledgeable and a great bartender. My favorite is the lavender lemon drop but every drink is pretty great.

Golden Beaver is a fantastic place to get a drink in Chico. They serve fantastic alcohol and the environment is top notch. It's nice that you can get good mixed drinks with great service. If you want a fantastic place to drink you should come here. My favorite is the old fashioned.

Great place to relax, enjoy a delicious cocktail. Best service and wonderful owner. We look forward on going on our evenings free.

Went to Golden Beaver Distillary as part of a group social- had an excellent tour of the facility and tastings of their wares! The curator and his staff are very knowledgeable of their craft and explain the art of distillation well. They produce finely crafted spirits, and I am proud to support a local business. My only reason for the 4/5 Star rating is that of economics. They charged $100 for a bottle of their Pacific Flyaway Bourbon Wiskey at the distillary (they were out of their Honey Run); I found the Honey Run a few months later @ Costco for $28.99. I bought 3 from Costco.

The host told us they didn't have any roses but came out with a little bouquet! For the dinner part, we were expecting a little more. The complimentary cornbread wasn't great in our opinions, but I'm sure others may like it. It's clearly homemade and comes with 3 different butters to put on top. We ordered the Salmon and Smashburger and they were both definitely over priced for what it tasted like. The salmon didn't have a lot of seasoning so it sort of tasted like something we'd give our cat. The sweet potato's on that dish were also not the best. The smashburger, in my opinion, would've tasted better if I got it from In N Out across the street. The entire burger just tasted like meat..no seasoning and there was maybe a drop of their aioli on the burger so all in all it just wasn't the best. I would've had a better experience at In N Out. We also ordered the Wagyu meatballs and never received them. We thought it was taking a minute to cook but all we got instead was the check..he didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert. We had wanted to check out their dessert menu and possibly get their strawberry shortcake but I guess that wasn't in the cards for us. We also ordered a cocktail and mocktail. My wife's mocktail (Kava Mule) was great! My cocktail (Horchata Mai Tai) was genuinely the strongest drink I've ever had. The flavor was nice if you could get past the amount of Bacardi they poured in there. Every drink I took felt like I was taking a shot. So with all that being said, unfortunately we won't be returning to Rancher's Daughter. Between the bland and expensive food, the forgotten about meatballs, the check rushed to our table, and the drinks..it's just the not the place for us.

We really had high hopes but were let down. We shared the complimentary corn bread, the arancini, and the hummus crudite. I had the turkey Thanksgiving dinner plate and my husband had the tri tip Thanksgiving plate. The starters were okay - cornbread was a very light texture and the butters that came with it weren't that good. The arancini was fine, just nothing too special but didn't come out very hot. The hummus didn't taste like much and came with a ton of bell peppers, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, and some pita. The turkey dinner was not good. The mashed potatoes and the turkey were okay. The root vegetable medley was not good and the stuffing was terrible, it was so mushy and weird. The gravy on the mashed potatoes already had a film over it like it had been sitting out for a while and was not hot at all. I also got an espresso martini that was not good. My husband got the horchata Mai tai - he liked it. My husband said the tri tip was okay but overall the plate was disappointing. They also mentioned on the phone that they would give us a complimentary dessert for my husband's birthday but never brought anything out. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a busy night and might give them another chance with their regular menu entrees but I don't have high hopes.

I scoured the menu and was excited to find so many hash choices. I was moved by the Irish Burrito, but ordered Linda's omelette; while my daughter went with the eggs Benedict. In a town that takes its breakfast seriously, and where I've probably worked my way through more menus and reviews than I should admit, this one quietly climbed right to the top of my list. My omelette was exactly what you want when you order one. Fluffy without being dry, full of flavor without trying too hard, and cooked like someone in the kitchen actually cares about eggs. The ingredients were balanced and fresh, not just thrown together as filler. The hollandaise sauce was original, I couldn't find a lemon, cheese or any other overwhelming base, it stood out. The hash was perfect. My daughter's eggs Benedict looked like a postcard version of what that dish should be. Perfectly poached eggs, rich hollandaise that didn't feel heavy, and ham that actually tasted like ham instead of just salt delivery. One of those plates where you steal a bite "just to try it" and immediately understand the decision. The real surprise for me was the potato pancake I picked instead of the usual hashbrowns. Light, airy inside, crispy outside, and seasoned just right. Honestly one of the better breakfast potatoes I've had anywhere. If potatoes had a hall of fame, this one would at least get a nomination. The place itself has a warm, comfortable feel. Wood tones, rooster themes everywhere, a relaxed local energy where people look like regulars and first-timers feel welcome anyway. Service was friendly and efficient without feeling rushed. In a city full of strong breakfast spots, this might actually be my current favorite. That's not something I say lightly.

Cute spot with booths all over and a friendly staff. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which is on a croissant with smoked bacon strips, avocado, mixed greens, bacon jam and two eggs. Instead of the potatoes, I got fruit for an additional $3.49. The sandwich was ok and I usually like bacon jam but I didn't like how sweet it was on this. The fruit was a sliver of orange, a very soft and super thin sliver of flavorless watermelon, a few slices of strawberries, a handful of blueberries and a ton of thin sliced apple. It wasn't great and I gave the apples away. I would have preferred just berries and for the additional cost, it would have been worth it. Randy ordered The (Not So) Standard Benedict and said it was only ok. He didn't like the super soft potatoes that came with it so he didn't eat many of them. His very thin slice of watermelon on his plate was also soft and flavorless. Our friend ordered the French toast and said it was good. I don't think we'd go back but we really appreciated the attentive server we had.
