We decided to try this place based on the many wonderful reviews regarding the food and ambience…read more The outside patio looked very appealing with a huge shade tree and if it weren't chilly outside, it looked like a nice place for a meal and a beer. Not sure if it was on "off" day for the chef but the Shepherds pie had zero flavor as if no spices or salt was used. The celery and carrots were undercooked and crunchy. There was hardly any meat and veg compared to the amount of potatoes on top. Potatoes also had no flavor of salt or butter. So bland and blech! Aside from the taste of the terrible food, the prices were way too high for the amount of food..$26 for a very small shepherds pie. There is no wait staff. You place your order at the counter. Once we ordered and paid for two shepherds pies (with the tip upfront) we found a table and sat down. The cashier then came to tell us there was only one shepherds pie left (on a Saturday at 5:30 in the evening?) and we could order something else and since we had already paid, he would give us another drink or something to offset the difference. We then ordered The Rancher. This also had hardly any filling with a puff pastry on top. Again, way overpriced at $24. We didn't get another drink to make up for the price difference. On top of all this, the Saturday evening "entertainment" was a group of senior citizens singing songs from the 50's and 60's very LOUDLY. It was a strange choice for a weekend night at a bar. No offense to the singers but wow, it was awkward as you feel as if you have to give a bit of applause since they are literally right next to the table. We left after eating a small amount and went to find dinner somewhere else.

So what I did the next game I told myself I'm definitely stopping there. Once inside it's super nice and very spacious. They have a beautiful restroom it's all pink with a huge wall art you could tell they payed attention to detail. Even the bathroom ceilings have wall art on the ceilings. Don't forget to look up next time . The inside consist of pretty much 3 areas. There is one big room. It looks like it was more like a private room. There's a little section on the way to the bathroom that has this beautiful tree with lights when I looked close enough there was a little monkey hanging on one of the tree branch . Then they have the other area once you first come in that it's near the bar overlooking the outside with the big windows . Last but not least you cannot forget about the massive patio with its own huge bar with a massive TV in the middle. It's just a very great space. The food was really delicious. Their menu is pretty massive. I was trying to decide what to pick.. I went with a Rancher burger cooked to my liking which was so perfect for me . I upgraded to the black truffle fries . For drinks my favorite was the lavender one so refreshing. They have a nice Happy Hour every single day pretty sweet right ? The service was excellent from the beginning to end . I could tell this is the locals hang out spot and I see why . The prices were very reasonable specially with the generous portions . Can't wait to go back when in the area .

I have been wanting to go here and I am so glad I did! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Huge round bar outside with a huge patio atmosphere. My friend and I got there when they opened ( 11 am) and decided to dit inside in a booth since it was still just alittle cool outside. We ordered a expresso martini and an Irish coffee ( Jamison whiskey with coffee and whip cream). The martinis was light and cold eith coffee beans floating on top. My friend enjoyed the coffee drink. We ordered the ahi tuna tostada and the waglu burger with parm fries. The ahi tuna was fresh and seasoned just right! They were generous on the tuna! The burger was huge ( smash burger) on a nicely toasted bun. I could barely get my mouth around it to take a bite ( I am 135 pounds!). It was juicy and cooked just right! We opted to pay alittle more to get the parm fries which was a great choice! JOHNNY took our order..made the awesome cocktails and checked on us often. GREAT customer service and he is a great asset for such a busy restaurant! Fun atmosphere and plenty of tvs to watch sports. Full bar. High energy place that was almost packed by noon ( good sign! ). Everyone seemed upbeat and enjoying cocktails..lol! Great experience and will definitely be back again! Thank you Johnny and the staff for fast service and great food! Ps. We had kids with us, so we got there an hour before it became 21+. Everyone was friendly, the food came pretty quick relative to how hopping it was. We ordered: Pho-rench dip (w/fries)--I think this was a DDD sandwich, so it's not some hidden gem, but it was super tasty. You cannot go wrong. The slight lime-iness of the dipping broth really kicked it into turbo. Also, we all likes the steak fries--a note on that later. Chicken Cheese Steak (w/fries)--my wife loved it. I tried a bite, and it was great--a little mushroom-forward, but we like that. Mac and Cheese--do not be fooled by the slightly smaller bowl, it is very filling. My son can eat his birth weight in pasta, and he had to tap out! I tried a bite--it was creamy (not grainy at all), and was just the right amount of salty and cheese-funky. Grilled cheese and tomato soup (w/fries)--perhaps the least successful for my family, but only because my daughter prefers a smoky/spicy tomato soup, and this was more on the sweet side. The griled cheese was of the "crispy cheese on the outside" ilk, which my daughter thought was really good. So, totally would go again. IMPORTANT NOTE (to people traveling through Chico, or who don't want to take leftovers)--the sandwiches are pretty big, and the add-on fry order is also sizeable. If we were going again tomorrow, we would either order 1 fry instead of 3. Or split a sandwich. Very very good pub.

If you're rolling through Chico and looking for a place that actually lives up to the name, Burgers…read more& Brew doesn't just talk a good game... it delivers for us! From the moment you walk up, it's got that classic brick and wood feel that says you're about to eat well. Step inside and you're greeted by a wall of taps that feels like a beer lover's playground. The place hums... great music, good energy, and a staff that's clearly in rhythm with it all. We didn't mess around with the order. My daughter went with the blue cheese burger special, her boyfriend took on the bacon jalapeño burger, and I went straight for the pastrami burger. Every one of them came out looking like a culinary masterpiece. The blue cheese had that perfect balance... bold but not overpowering as they are want to be. Her boyfriend said the bacon jalapeño brought just enough heat to keep things interesting without stealing the show, probably too weak for me ;). My pastrami burger was a heavyweight... stacked, savory, and the kind of messy you don't even try to clean up until you're done. Think Katz deli melding with a west coast hip scene burger. Now let's talk onion rings... because these deserve it. Golden, crispy, and just the right crunch when you bite in. Not greasy, not soggy, just dialed in exactly how they should be. Add the garlic sauce and now you're playing a different game altogether. That sauce is not optional, it's essential and fabulous on everything. The beer selection is deep, the kind where you stand there for a minute pretending you're making a thoughtful decision when really you just want to try everything. Service was on point from start to finish. No waiting around, no chasing anyone down... just attentive, easy, and done right. Only downside, and it's not really their fault, is parking. Downtown Chico can make you work a little for it. But once you're inside, with a cold beer in hand and a burger staring you down, you won't care how far you walked. I will be back, it is well worth the money.

I'm local. I hadn't been there for probably a year. The five star reviews seem to be from OOT…read moreparents dropping their kids off at Chico State, people who wouldn't notice if a penguin took a dump in their French fries, because they're understandably absorbed in their fleeing children's every word and deed on an emotional weekend. Burgers are "meh", and my only reason for going back is that they have an ok lamb burger, which I haven't otherwise found north of Sacramento (where there are much better lamb burgers). The place is absolutely filthy. Greasy fingerprints on every surface that could possibly display them. Spill residue and trash everywhere. There's absolutely no way that my wife would eat here. She hasn't been there in years, and now would turn around and leave as soon as she saw the place. Looking around while eating, I couldn't finish my meal, and I left. And I'm pretty easy. I like dives, but not filth. I don't think that this is meant to be a dive, AND it's progressively become a s******e. And, all the while, the "manager", who didn't appear to "manage" anything, except for conversation and passing out free beer samples to his buddies at the bar (one of whom was clearly, from their banter, a fired former employee), did nothing else but gossip and bitch about higher management, while the employees also had multiple free beer samples, and stood around and chatted with each other. While the environment grew even more disgusting. Shouldn't these people be trying to at least keep the the place presentable, if not really clean? Isn't this a regional chain? I'm sure that no one from Sacramento has been here recently. I don't like to see a business fail, but this one deserves to.

TL;DR: DO NOT EVEN LET THEM SEE YOU WITH ANOTHER PERSON, EVEN OUTSIDE THE STORE, IF THEY DO NOT…read moreHAVE THEIR ID ON THEM. If you don't have yours, send in the other and go in a frickin' ninja mission. I am SHOCKED at how strict they are with their ID policy. I've never experienced such a strict policy before. I came in from going on a walk earlier, so didn't have my ID with me. The person at the counter told me they couldn't sell to me without it and mentioned that they have to scan it to allow the transaction to go through. So I went out to go grab my husband because he had his on him. I am clearly over 21 being 32 years old. Typically (and by typically I mean every other time except for this one), this is satisfactory, especially when we're trying to buy a couple bottles of wine. There's never a suspicion that one of us os trying to buy alcohol for the other because one is underage. They go far above and beyond the legal requirements to such a ridiculous extent here. One of the employees literally cited a recent experience where they had to deny someone who was born in *1935* because he didn't have his ID on him. The bars in Chico aren't even that strict and they are notorious for how strict they are. 2 stars instead of one because I don't blame the employees at all, I'm just frustrated at the policy overall. One of the employees even asked if they could help me find anything. I really want to emphasize that it's not their fault, and I fully support them not being willing to sacrifice their jobs for some inconsequential person to buy some alcohol. That being said, I don't think I'll be back or I will at least avoid. My story isn't nearly as severe as the other reviews, which I 100% believe.

Dear Customer Relations Team,…read more I am writing to formally report a very disappointing experience my parents and I had at one of your BevMo! store locations today. My father was attempting to purchase a bottle for an upcoming wedding. Although I was not purchasing any alcohol or making a transaction, the cashier insisted that every person in our group present identification. I explained that I am 32 years old and was simply accompanying my parents, who are both in their 60s and were the only individuals making a purchase. The situation escalated when the manager stated that it was store policy to ID everyone present and ultimately refused service when I stepped outside the store. As a result, my parents were unable to complete their purchase. We fully respect and support responsible alcohol sales and compliance with ID laws. However, denying service to a legal purchaser because other adults are present -- even when those adults are not involved in the transaction -- felt excessive, unnecessary, and poorly handled. The interaction left us feeling embarrassed, singled out, and unwelcome. This experience also raises an important question: if a minor enters the store with their parents, would the parents be denied service as well? If this is indeed the policy, it would be helpful for customers to see it clearly posted and explained before reaching the register. We are long-time customers and did not expect to be turned away in this manner. I hope this feedback will prompt a review of how this policy is enforced and communicated so future customers do not have a similar experience. I would appreciate a response regarding this matter. Sincerely, Julian
