I hit happy hour and ordered the pub pretzels and boneless chicken wings. Love the happy hour prices! I had been snacking my way through Chico so I only had a chicken wings and a pub pretzels. Both were good! Always consistent with these 2 dishes at Applebees! The bartender/waitress was super sweet and friendly. I think her name was Kimber or Kimberlin? ( long term employee). I'm on my way down to Sacramento to pick up one of my crew for a trip to SF. I have one with me already and we need lunch and I just can't get over how I love this new Big Easy menu they have now at Applebee's. The inside of this location looks similar to all the Applebee's with a bar and booths around nice open windows. I've never been to this Chico location before, but it's easy to find with the GPS, lots of parking too. We get seated and drink orders taken. I already know what I'm having, and that's my fave Bourbon sauce chicken over penne pasta and Andouille sausage. It's priced at just $11.99! I love the taste of that sausage, not too spicy either. My friend gets the grilled chicken and shrimp served on a sizzling hot platter for around $18. The food arrives pretty quickly and looks fab. The sizzling platter is really sizzling! My food looks good, all properly proportioned with all the ingredients and plenty of sausage and the bourbon sauce. We both enjoyed our meals and I'd recommend getting these specials while they still have them. read more

I will never go here again. One of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. Waited over 45 minutes for our food, and had to ask where our food was because everyone around us was being tended to and served- even those who ordered long after us. It was like we were invisible. Half of our order was wrong- obviously no one goes to Applebees for the 5 star food but this was straight trash and so is the staff. If I could give zero stars I would. read more

Meh. Service was slow. Maybe because it was 930pm but it was also near Fourth of July weekend and it was Wednesday night I believe. They had fireworks going at the raceway nearby so u would think they'd staff better since ppl started showing up. Took a long time to get our drinks and my hubby ordered the all u can eat dish. Sat down, put in our order and then sat for an hour. Waitress never even checked on us in that hour. Had to ask a waiter that wasn't ours to get another beer. Two different couples sat, ordered, ate and left and we still weren't even served. Finally, our waitress came and explained our order "disappeared " from her tablet, so we had to order everything again. Finally got food. No comps. No nothing. This experience was definitely one to remember, our server was wonderful the hostess not so much. Amber was a bit odd and as a group of people of color that's always concerning writhing a business. We got multiple odd stares and remarks as well as being seating in the back of the establishment. As well as when we spoke she came and added a divider from our table to the rest of the restaurant it kind of just gave segregation. My food that I initially ordered was lwk crusted over so I just reordeeed my appetizer. As soon as the appetizer came out so did the food which was odd as well. Service and food quality need to improve. My table of 5 all got their meals and finished them before they brought my food out. They gave me the chicken and waffles after waiting the entire time. The waffle was cold and the chicken strips were the size of little rat tails. So scrawny, I asked if it was the bottom of the bag. The manager said, no. That's their strips. She did comp my meal but the experience itself was enough to call it my last trip the iHop/applebees. read more

Don't order off the IHOP menu. It's clear the cooks can't cook breakfast food. Hash brown were burnt and the servers refused to get us new ones for 20 minutes. They took the meals off the bill. That's nice but the gross eggs, bacon and burnt Hash-browns made for a bad experience. I won't be back. read more

Awful experience, came in as a party of 10 ordered the kids food ahead of time after getting our own menus to make sure they could get placed quickly. Took 90 minutes to get the kids food. It was 11:30pm when the food came & the place was empty. General manager was our server and was so rude about us ordering waters for the kids. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would! Giuseppe was a phenomenal server, I'm not sure that I could say I've ever received better service anywhere else. He was very accommodating and attentive even though he was busy. He was very engaging with my toddler as well. I usually don't leave reviews, but my experience at this Applebee's was bad enough that I have to say something. The host, Emily, was incredibly unprofessional from the moment we walked in. She seemed annoyed that customers were even showing up, didn't greet us properly, and acted like seating us was some huge inconvenience. We stood at the front for several minutes while she ignored us, even though the restaurant was nowhere near full. When she finally acknowledged us, her attitude was dismissive and disrespectful, no smile, no welcome, no effort. I understand they are going through construction but that is no excuse for the treatment we were given. read more

I came here with a very large group and the waiter was super accommodating and friendly to us! The food was what you would expect from an Applebee's: okay to good. The portion sizes were good, though, and we all enjoyed ourselves. It was also super convenient because it was right across from our hotel. My ribs were pretty scarce in terms of meat, but I heard another member of my party was pretty happy with theirs. I guess it's hit or miss. read more

First things first... my husband and I are not fans of Applebee's. We have had too many bad experiences. However, a visit to Chico for an RC event brought us right across the street from Applebee's of Chico. We needed a hot meal on our first night and decided to order take out to give them a shot. We had the rib-eye, mashed potatoes and broccoli. It was very good. Two days later I was stuck in the hotel all day and ordered a grilled chicken bowl. It was huge and absolutely delicious. Our last night in Chico I was again stuck in the hotel so decided to give it another shot. Sirloin, sautéed mushrooms, mashed potatoes, broccoli and 2 breadsticks. I also ordered a glass of ice tea. The meal was fantastic. I'm so shocked at our great experience at this Applebee's!!! Great service as well! I just might give more Applebee's a chance. read more

Took forever to take our order, appetizer came out super late, two of our parties food came out after a while and mine never came. Waited and waited. They finished eating and I was still waiting. For many years, my husband and I have been on-and-off patrons of the Applebee's in Chico. Up until the last year, it was a consistently good option. After a noticeable decline, we decided to give them one more chance. My husband ordered the Fish & Chips, and I chose the Chicken Quesadilla. Unfortunately, both of our main dishes were lukewarm at best, though still consumable. Today I went to Applebees and had the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I talked to the manager (I believe Paula) and simply asked if they were hiring and was responded to in the rudest tone, being told no employer is ever hiring in the month of January. I understand if this location isn't hiring, but there is no reason to be that rude to someone who asked one question. I would not recommend anyone work there, the management seems extremely hostile and like a bad work environment. read more

This afternoon I had the most disturbing thing happen to me and customers at Applebee's in Chico, Calif. I went in just before 3:00 I frequent Applebee's as well as my friends fairly often. I was served by a very pleasant waitress. I think her name was Jackie. I ordered a hamburger and tea. The order took a very long time and I was okay with that. Approx 57 mins later my food showed. My burger looked okay but the top bun was very hard. I showed the waitress and she said oh let me take it back. I said oh no it's okay just bring me a new top bun. She left to get it. As I looked down at the lettuce what looked like pepper started moving. When the waitress returned. I said I am sorry to tell you but look and she did little bugs were crawling around on the lettuce.I said do you see them making a joke or am I seeing things. She laughted said oh no I see them crawling. She said do you even want another burger. I said yes just without lettuce. She was very sweet. She came to the table said I am going home another person will take over. I said okay and gave her her tip. When the food came out a little after 4 I asked the server to tell Paula to come out when she can. I wanted to tell Paula the manager. Who I have known of since shortly after this location opened. Paula came out I said Paula I wanted to let you know about the lettuce and timing. I have never had it this way. I started to tell her about the lettuce. She glared at me like she wanted to kill me and flipped out. She said we do not have anything like that on the lettuce and I hightly doubt your food took that long and if you don't like it you can never eat here again. I said what? Ask the waitress she saw them too. I am just telling you so It can be washed. I am not mad just thought you would want to know. She started yelling till people were looking. I said are you okay what is going on. She was yelling and yelling walking away from the table yelling. I do not have to deal with this. I do not have to be abused at this job. The bartenders and Hotess were shocked. I stayed seated still in shock. Paula reappeared and threw my bill on the table.I said Paula what is going on with you. She just kept wailing her arms in the air yelling across the resturant. I am not going to be abused. She tried to make it look like I did something but I didn't I was talking softly. The bartender Carlos came over and said I am so sorry. Do you want to take your food in a box. I said what just happened? Did I do something. He said no you didn't do anything at all. He said can I get you anything. I said no I do not want my food. I am so upset I couldn't eat. The hostess,Carlos,and the other bartender and customers were just staring looking at me in shock tring to figure out what was going on. Why she was yelling waiving her arms across the resturant twice. I called my girlfriend who goes there 2 times week. She said I have pretty much quit going there. Paula flipped out at one of our favorite bar tenders Dan and it became her yelling saying you think you are the Golden Boy. saying you are not as special as you think you are. She said the entire bar was super uncomfortable two other ladies said they will not return. Dan is a very nice, very good looking clean cut young man. He has always been pleasant. I do not drink alcohol much he is always nice and has no problem that I order ice tea. I do not know what is going on with Paula? But this needs to be addressed. I have seen a little aggressive behavior with her but ignored it in the past. As in I never ask for more fries but did one time. Paula came out and slammed them down between myself and a friend. I in no way abused her. She was being abusive yelling at me. Yelling enough for others to hear and embassing me. I was hurt and upset the entire rest of the day. In talking with my friend who goes there a few times a week. She said Paula has been yelling at the staff in front of customers. She yelled at Dan a great bartender saying you think you are the Golden Boy. Yelling and yelling. A few customers said they will never return. When I herd they were closing down temporarily and remodeling,?AND also becoming a I-Hop,I had aspirations that went unanswered. My wife and son and I went in the night they opened,But same problems still exist.?The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink then took 15 minutes to bring us those.Then after taking our orders,Didn't come back intill our meals were dilivered 30 minutes later.My sons chicken fried steak had no sauce on it.So after she finally came back by we asked her for a side of sauce.She seemed mad that we asked and didn't bring it back for another 15 minutes. Not sure why low stars, we come to chico for vacatlion twice a year and eat here at least once if not twice while here. This time March 9th 2025 was some of the best customer service we have ever had. Everyone was friendly and Helpful and so accomadating to answer all our questions. Food was good !! Service was horrible.... My husband and I were greeted by a hostess, that seated us. About 10 minutes later a waitress came to our table gave us Menu's and took our drink orders that were two waters. It took the waitress 15 minutes to bring us our waters and another 12 minutes to come back and take our food orders. There Were not many customers during this time, however two older men were seated at the table near ours and that's where the waitress stood most of the time.I felt like we were Intruding on her and that's the attitude she had.
