Every time we go to Chico to visit our son at the college we go to Frankys. Their pizza is fantastic Service is friendly, and we enjoy the ambience. They have a parking lot, which is very handy! We received excellent service from our waitress. The salads and dressing were very good. Love the Caesar! Unfortunately our meals weren't that great. Not bad enough to complain but really weren't up to standard based on price and description. We ordered the Special which was a pile of angel hair pasta mixed with pesto in the middle (very dry), and around that it was supposed to have chicken, asparagus, roasted garlic and heirloom tomatoes. I can't remember what else. I only found two small bites of chicken. Not worth $34. The other dish was the Chicken Picatta and the sauce was very thick, not the lighter thin sauce with capers we've become used to and green bell peppers were one of the veggies they added to the pasta. Those are so over powering to the other flavors of artichoke hearts and mushrooms. The balance of ingredients was just off for how much money they now charge. (prices have recently increased and dishes are mostly in the $28+ unless your getting the basics ie spaghetti) Don't plan to return for anything but the Caesar salad dressing! read more

Definitely not what I was expecting. I've driven by several times and it always looked busy. I was determined to try it out. Sad to say it was not good! We had calamari, shrimp, mozzarella sticks, not good, no flavors. I won't go back. Nice bar and spacious dining area. First time eating at Franky's. Ordered Manicotti with salad. Salad was Romaine lettuce, shredded carrots and a bunch of jarred parmesan. Manicotti was filled with mozzarella and that's it. The pizza is super heavy and greasy. It's fast and tastes good when you're drunk, but that's really it. The place has a solid atmosphere, but the food is overpriced and pretty average at best. I went here for fish bowls one night and had fun! The staff was kind, and the pizza from the window was delicious. Only issue is there is not a lot of seating so you have to have a reservation. Wasn't sure what to expect from this place. Heard some great things but also some bad. We met a group of coworkers here for dinner. Got cocktails at the bar. Good drinks and relatively fast. For dinner my wife ordered the chicken Marsala and I had the scallop special. Both were really good. I have never had the amount of scallops in one serving before. Stopped by here with the fam while visiting. It's fine. Prices are good. Ambience- not bad but the lighting is harsh. Turn it down. Service - no complaints. Food - Mmm. Mediocre but ok. Pizza toppings were good but I didn't love the crust - gummy and lacking flavor. Spaghetti marinara was just ok. Salads were good although they drenched it with cheese which I never understand. Price - Ok this is where they win. I am from the Bay Area and could not believe you can get a large pizza plus a huge plate of pasta to share, four salads and 4 alcoholic beverages -- for under 70 bucks. AYKM?! Our drinks were half price because we were there before six but still. Great value for groups IMO. So - it's ok and a good value for the money. Been over 12 years that we dined here. We visited Chico on 7/1/2025 and stopped at Frankys on 7/2/2025. Nothing has changed same great food, Service and atmosphere. Thank You we now live in Reno and will be back. Lately for dinner I've been ordering their Antipasto salad as I really love it. Because it's so big I usually have to ask for a box to take home what I can't finish. I highly recommend it. $18 Their pizzas are always good. They have 3 pizza sizes and their biggest is a giant size. We continue to come here quite frequently some of which is due not only for their service, good food but also because of their Happy Hour wines by the glass which at Happy Hour are 50% off. A slight bummer is that currently for the last month or so they have been out of their Chianti wind by the glass. Our waitress told us that's because they're in the process of changing their wine menu. An Italian oriented menu without a Chianti wine to me is sad ... however for many years I've found Franky's to be a very nice restaurant, caring about their patrons and so I have faith that soon a basic Chianti wine will be available again. read more

Pasta was not himemade. No seasoning on anything! Service was fair. These ppl who like it here are settling bc its their old spot. Won't be returning. Way over priced! $30 a plate for this disaster. This is one of our favorite spots in Chico so it is with sadness that we feel compelled to say a word about the underhanded bread policy. Beware: bread is not free. Except when it is. But they won't openly tell you that ahead of time - you'll figure it out when your bill arrives. Our server offered bread and we accepted. There was no mention of a charge. In the hundreds of times we've been there, bread is always included. One of the throwback charms of an established neighborhood restaurant we thought. Well, no. Not any more. At least not under certain circumstances. And you'll have to ask very specifically if you want a straight answer because they are coy about it. Long story short - they're playing on your ignorance or confusion to make a few extra dollars. Let's be real - if we were offered an eggplant, we'd expect to pay. But that's not what's happening here. Franky's lost a bit of our loyalty tonight. read more

Was charged for a ceasar salad, but we ordered a regular salad, which is no cost. atmosphere was loud and difficult to hear group's conversation. only redeeming thing: our server was OUTSTANDING!! Came here to visit my cousins who go to school in the area. They had recommended this spot & thank goodness they did. This spot is great if you're looking for excellent service, a wonderful night to catch up with friends & family, & some phenomenal food & drink. This place is great if you have kids because it's on the louder side & if your kids are loud, no one's cares. But more importantly, they have a killer kid's menu. If you get the pizza, it's a HUGE slice. I was super impressed & very pleased as was my child who ate every bite. So good! Also it comes with ice cream at the end! If you come between 4-6pm during the week they have happy hour & the portions are large! Highly recommend the early bird special. It is $10 & you'll definitely be full. Pizza - amazing Mozzarella sticks - amazing Pasta - amazing Wine selection - amazing Meatballs - amazing Service - amazing They have outside seating as well with fire pits & it's covered. We will take advantage of that next time. They have a full bar & some mixed drinks are available for happy hour as well. Parking lot is small, but there is street parking. Hello, I have tried through every channel possible to get a hold of somebody there to be able to buy a gift card. Both your book a table and order takeout phone numbers do not work. They say that nobody is available to take my call and I have tried multiple times a day on four days in a row. I tried to buy the gift card online on a mobile device and on my laptop, trying four different credit cards and each time it says it can't process payment. My daughter is a student up there and likes your food. I was hoping to buy a gift card, but it is extremely difficult to patronize your business other than physically walking in the door. I do not live in Chico and need to figure out a way to make this happen. I'm hoping that with this review I will catch your attention to get ahold of somebody there. read more

Have not been here since 2019, it was Great! We called for Reservations and they said no problem. We brought 2 people who have never been to Franky's. They were impressed on the Service, Food and Atmosphere. They had a special of Lobster with pasta and it was fabulous. So glad the night went Great! Can't wait to get back. read more

The lasagna was pretty good with the house red. I was in the mood and it hit the spot.

This is our favorite Italian restaurant in Chico. We get takeout mostly. Spaghetti and meatballs are great. We order extra sauce as the spaghetti is a large amount. Salads are fresh. The Ziti with meat sauce was also delicious. Orders are always correct. read more
