We arrived into Chico around 7 pm on a Friday night. Calling places, we were surprised to discover how few restaurants took precautions with their gluten free dishes. We called farm star and heard surprisingly good news about the care they take when preparing gluten free pizzas, so we rushed down. Upon arriving, the staff was friendly. You could tell they had just had a rush and were restocking their self serve tables with plates, silverware, and water cups. The dining area is spacious and friendly. There is also outdoor seating for warmer days. We ordered the pig & shroom and I explained that I have celiac. They were very accommodating and explained their precautions. They also recommended the baked Brie appetizer with pear slices instead of crostini - a perfect combination! While it was a little pricey, the food was high quality and tasted delicious. Pizza is the best by far!! But beware of the salads. We had two small live bugs (appeared to be baby cockroaches) in our salad. I was basically told by two people, "Oh well, we use organic produce." It was fine. This time I took the pizza home which maybe was not to their advantage. The big turn off was that the cheese looked like it was fake. Both on the pizza and the breadsticks. The crust was still crispy. There were enough toppings. But certainly wasn't $70 worth of pizza for two pizzas and some breadsticks. Their parking lot is also pretty intense. If you got a big car and it's full getting in and out is hard. Definitely wouldn't be my first pick. read more

My online order was quoted to be ready at 7:56p, I arrived on time but was told it wasn't in the oven yet, 15 more minutes. While I waited, I watched the cook eat a slice of pepperoni off someone's pizza that he had just taken out of the oven. Bad look for an open kitchen, glad it wasn't mine. I got my pizza home and realized they didn't give me the ranch I paid for. I called to let them know but they weren't answering the phone, probably because they had run out of pizza dough and were turning customers away at 8pm. 2 pizzas were good, one had burned crust. Absolutely one of the best pizzas we've experienced in a long time. We were a little confused when we first got there and we weren't sure if we sat down and some came to the table or if we ordered at the counter. Another customer told us we order at the counter which was helpful. When placing our order we were greeted and everything went smoothly after that. For a pizza joint, this place is five stars! For what they think they actually are, they are way over priced! Menu from four years ago shows the beet salad is $9 and It is now $15. They gave themselves a 66% pay raise over four years versus the usual 4% inflation per year. I wonder if their employees are getting 66% more pay than they were four years ago??? (if so, they should be making around $25 an hour now, just to put it into perspective). Whatcha'll think about that??? read more

I love this pizza!! Fresh and on point every-time we have tried it - love the salads and the arugala that is fresh farm to table. It's not the standard baby leaf from the store so I can tell it's out of someones farm which makes it spicier and tastier!! The balsamic dressing is on point as well super good and how I would make it at home. I don't remember the names of the pizzas we got but one had jalepeno's and we should have had them on the side it was spicy but really good flavor! Certainly a must try and great to support local businesses!! It is a little pricy but all food establishments seem to be expensive these days even a burger at carl's jr is like 14 bucks for a combo so why not support local and get some great grub and pay the same amount! Yum!! Their pizza is delicious- we ordered 3 (for 3 people ) and all were sooo tasty. I was nervous about ordering a salad since the previous Yelp reviewers weren't keen on their lettuce, but we had no issues! I love their decor and the vibe of the back (indoor) patio with their lighting at night. They have great beers on tap, as well. I am ashamed that I waited 8 years to try Farm Star. During Covid only to-go times: Baked Brie Cheese Wedge $10 had a very large melted chunk of brie plus lots of bread/crostinis, almonds and apples. Pickled Beet Salad $12 I should have read the ingredients instead of assuming it was like most Italian beet salads where beets are the main attraction. The large amounts of blue cheese crumbles plus the red onions over-powered the beets and the rest of the ingredients. It's my own fault and I have no complaints on the quality of the salad and one example is that that rather than canned mandarins like most places they used fresh mandarins instead. Thank you Farm Star for caring. The Vegi-Saurus pizza $23 was good however I guess I've gotten spoiled by a few local wood fired pizza places such as Mulberry Station whose crust is better. Don't get me wrong, I never mind paying a little more for quality, but with it, I also expect(ed) to have a crust which was fully cooked,and I didn't. Artichoke hearts and tomato juices spoiled what may have been a good thing. Dough seemed quite undercooked , and for a pizza, that's a minus 10.
